Chapter 6 - chapter6

Arriving home, Zhen Shunshun was livestreaming: "Everyone, today I'll teach you how to spot weight-loss scams..."

She held up a photo—it was my chubby picture from three months ago. "This is my sister. She claims she lost 15kg through exercise, but she took banned drugs!"

I calmly walked into the frame and set down my backpack. "Sis, spreading rumors again?"

The comment section exploded:

[Is that the same person?]

[Such a huge change!]

[Didn't Shunshun say her sister was a fatty?]

Zhen Shunshun frantically ended the stream and screamed hysterically:

"Get out!"

That night, my account gained 60k followers.

I posted a jump rope video with the caption: "Day 60. Body fat down to 22%. Rumors stop with the wise."

Before bed, I heard retching sounds from Shunshun's room. Her livestream had been a black screen for a week.

Scrolling through her socials, her latest post was a hospital scale photo: 39.2kg, captioned "All checkup results normal."

Comments overflowed with concern:

[Shunshun's too thin, this hurts] [Does she have anorexia?] [Her dieting sister's the suspicious one]

My account "Transformation Journey" hit 10k followers. Under my latest body metrics post, the top comment by Mo Wen read: "Three months: body fat from 32% to 20%, muscle mass gained 4kg. *This* is scientific weight loss."

My phone buzzed—Zheng Kai sent a friend request.

I declined. Three seconds later, he sent another: "I have dirt on Shunshun. You'll want it."

After a pause, I accepted.

He immediately sent an audio clip. I plugged in my earphones—

"That fat cow has no right to get skinny!" Shunshun's voice was shrill. "You all must keep trashing her! Especially you, Zheng Kai—didn't you say you only liked *me*?"

"But you're too thin now," Zheng Kai mumbled weakly.

"Useless! Tomorrow you'll confess you like her and extract her 'weight-loss secrets'! Or I'll ruin your reputation campus-wide!"

The recording ended. Zheng Kai texted: "She forced me to approach you. More evidence—I'll show you in person."

I replied: "Unnecessary. Keep it to protect yourself."

Setting my phone down, I stood before the full-length mirror.

The girl reflected had a slender waist and toned legs, unrecognizable from three months prior.

Lifting my shirt, faint muscle lines traced my abdomen.

An argument erupted in the living room.

I cracked my door open: Mom was sobbing. "The doctor said you have an electrolyte imbalance! Keep this up, and your organs will fail!"

"It's all that bitch Zhen Yuanyuan's fault!" Shunshun shrieked. "She's using some black magic!"

"Nonsense!" Mom's voice turned sharp. "I've seen her three months of diet/exercise logs—far more real than your fake mukbangs!"

I held my breath—Mom had *never* defended me against Shunshun before.

"Mom! Has she brainwashed you,u too?" Shunshun screamed. "I'm your favorite daughter!"

"*Exactly* why I can't watch you self-destruct!" Mom choked out. "You're checking into the hospital tomorrow!"

"No!" Shunshun's footsteps stormed closer. I slipped back inside.

She burst in, grabbing my wrist. "Happy now? Mom chose you over me!"

Her frame was terrifyingly gaunt, eyes sunken, wrist bone sharp enough to snap. I pulled free. "Your health crisis is self-inflicted."

"WRONG!" Her eyes blazed crimson. "All my tests are clear, yet I keep wasting away—*you stole my body weight*!"

My heart raced. She was dangerously close to the truth.
