Chapter 7 - The Taste of Truth

After their misunderstanding faded,

Eva and Denial's bond began to blossom once again — softer, warmer, more real.

Denial still disappeared every month for exactly 15 days,

but now, he didn't try to make excuses.

Instead, he simply said he had "things to do."

And Eva, although curious, didn't ask anymore.

She smiled and told herself,

> "Maybe it's for work."

"Maybe he needs time for himself."

She waited. She trusted.

🏠 An Invitation

One chilly afternoon, as they sat together by the lake, Eva suddenly said:

"Would you like to come to my place sometime?"

Denial froze for half a second — just enough for her to notice.

Then came his quiet answer:

"I can't."

Eva felt a sting in her chest.

But she simply nodded.

> "He must have his reasons," she told herself.

"Not everything needs to be perfect."

Their relationship continued to grow.

They spoke for hours about dreams, music, memories, and sometimes, just silence.

Eva had started to imagine a future.

Denial, on the other hand…

couldn't imagine a life without her anymore.

🌑 The Cursed Day Returns

And then… the new moon came again.

The cursed day.

The beginning of those same 15 nights.

That morning, Eva asked him to meet her later that evening.

"I need to talk to you about something important," she said, clutching his arm gently.

Denial hesitated.

"I'm right here," he smiled. "Say it now."

But Eva shook her head, her voice soft but firm.

"Please, honey… tonight. 8 PM. Just this once."

Denial, after a long pause, nodded.

"…Okay."

🩸 The Wrong Place, The Worst Time

That night, Denial was deep in the forest —

desperately looking for an animal to feed on before the curse overwhelmed him.

He had waited too long.

The hunger had turned sharp. Brutal.

His fangs had pierced the soft fur of a wild rabbit when suddenly—

He sensed her.

Too late.

From behind the trees, a soft gasp.

He turned.

Eva was standing there.

Her eyes wide.

Frozen.

Terrified.

She had followed him, hoping to surprise him…

Instead, she had walked into a nightmare.

Denial's shirt was stained with blood.

His mouth, trembling.

His hands, claws.

He stood still — eyes locked on hers.

Eva couldn't breathe.

> "No… no, that can't be him…"

"That's not Denial…"

"That's not… the man I love…"

But it was.

And he knew she had seen too much.
