Aron's legs buckled, and he collapsed onto one knee, his entire body trembling violently. Sweat dripped down his forehead, stinging his eyes as he gritted his teeth.
"Aron! Hang on!!!" Mary yelled, her voice cracking with desperation.
"Urrgh! I'm… I'm trying!!!" Aron grunted, veins bulging along his arms as he poured every ounce of his strength into maintaining the absolute defense barrier.
For the past minute, while Aron focused solely on defense, Mary had been firing a relentless volley of mana arrows at the assassin— probably hundreds, by now. Each arrow streaked through the air, only to vanish into thin air or strike an illusion. Not a single one hit the real target!
Meanwhile, the Assassin DeathGuard continued to hurl daggers at them.
Luckily, none of its attacks could break through Aron's absolute defense.
But if they couldn't find a way to deal with the assassin before Aron's skill wore off, everything would be meaningless.
