Chapter 3 - Chapter 3 - The Bud of Light

Kaelen stood silently behind one of the polished marble columns of the training courtyard, eyes wide with awe.

Across the open stone platform stood a young girl, about twelve years old, her green eyes sparkling with focus. Her soft brown hair fluttered slightly in the ambient mana wind as she raised her arms above her head. She was unmistakably a member of the family — her features closely resembling their mother's, calm yet resolute. Her name was Lyra, his older sister already known as a magical prodigy within the household.

"Light Burst — Radiant Spiral!" she chanted.

A radiant sphere of magicules formed between her palms, spinning violently. The sphere gathered ambient light and magical energy like a miniature star being born. Then, with a pulse, it exploded into a spiraling shockwave of holy energy. Spiraling tendrils of golden light danced outward in every direction, lighting up the training ground with breathtaking brilliance. The power wasn't at its peak — Lyra was still a child after all — but even in its immature form, the spell was stunning.

It was a clan-exclusive technique, a symbol of pride for their family.

Kaelen could only murmur to himself, "So that's what true magic looks like..."

Lyra spotted him immediately. "Brother? Why are you hiding there?" she called out, lowering her hands.

Kaelen awkwardly stepped out from behind the pillar. "Ah... well... Mom told me to observe you. I want to learn magic too."

Lyra tilted her head. "You want to learn magic? Then what's your attribute?"

"I... don't know," he replied honestly.

"Well then!" she grinned. "Let's try everything."

They ran a basic attribute test using enchanted crystal rods prepared by the family. One by one, they lit up. Fire. Water. Wind. Earth. Light. Dark. Ice. Even the elusive Holy and Lightning... All reacted. But the ones that glowed the brightest were Light and Ice.

Kaelen was stunned. Lyra was speechless for a moment before she broke into a giggle. "That's amazing! You've got all attributes? But I only know light-based spells... Hmm... I'll teach you the easiest one."

She demonstrated, forming a small glowing orb in front of her.

"This is Light Ball. It's not really strong, but it's good to blind enemies or light your path."

Kaelen watched closely, nodding. Then, with a steady breath, he gathered his magicules and replicated it on the first try — nearly identical.

"Whoa..." Lyra blinked. "You've got a natural feel for it."

"Can I try modifying it?" he asked.

"Eh? Um... sure? I guess?"

Kaelen concentrated again. This time, instead of letting the ball float, he poured more magicules into it — compressing, condensing, and focusing the light until it became a dense, glowing core. He raised his hand and aimed.

"Photon Cannon."

The small sphere shot forward at supersonic speed, cracking through the air and exploding several meters away with a shockwave that sent dust flying. The impact left a shallow crater, light particles still flickering in the air.

Lyra's mouth hung open. "You— That's basically as strong as my spell!"

Even the maid, who had been tending the plants nearby, stumbled backward in shock, wide-eyed.

Lyra blinked, still wide-eyed, the fading glow of the "Photon Cannon" reflected in her green irises. A second passed before she snapped out of her shock, her expression twisting into one of pure curiosity.

Lyra: "W-What was that?! Kaelen, how did you even do that?!"

Kaelen scratched his head awkwardly, still a bit dazed from the spell's recoil.

Kaelen: "Uh... I think I just saw something in your spell that others don't. The way the magicules moved, how the light compressed — it just... made sense."

He motioned with his hands, mimicking the spiraling sphere of her earlier cast.

Kaelen: "So I thought... what if I kept pouring more magicules into a small space without letting it expand? And when it couldn't hold anymore—boom."

Lyra stared at him in disbelief, her face quickly shifting into excitement. She rushed over to a pile of books stacked near her training spot and pulled out a few with eager hands.

Lyra: "Then let's try more! Here—basic spells for all elements: Fireball, Vacuum Push, Water Ball, Stone Pellets, Lightning Bolt, and Ice Lance. We don't have Dark magic... but let's see how far you can go!"

Despite the new attributes being tougher to channel, Kaelen eventually managed to cast each one, albeit with some effort. It wasn't raw talent alone—it was his eyes. Though he didn't fully realize it yet, his [Mystic Eye ] gave him an edge, allowing him to understand the structure of spells at a level most couldn't even perceive.

By the time they finished, the sky had already turned to twilight. The two quickly washed up. As Kaelen soaked in the warm water, his thoughts spun wildly.

Kaelen (thinking): "If I can manipulate magic at this level... maybe I can replicate real-world physics with spells. Just like how Rimuru created Megiddo in the anime..."

Dinner that night was a full gathering. The family sat at a long wooden table, the warm light of magic lamps glowing softly around them. When Lyra excitedly recounted everything that had happened, their mother beamed with pride.

Mother: "That's wonderful, Kaelen! You really are special."

Father: "...Hmph. Impressive. But we'll see how you handle pressure."

His older brother,Allaric, twin to Lyra, scoffed at the story.

Allaric: "There's no way a weakling like you learned all that in one day. Tch. Spar me tomorrow—I'll see for myself."

Kaelen gulped, reluctant, but nodded.

That night, he lay in bed, eyes wide open, heart restless. His mind raced with possibilities—not just with magic, but with how he could integrate science and martial arts. If he could combine magic with physical enhancement...

Kaelen (thinking): "Like Godspeed... or those anime techniques..."Determined, he snuck out to the training yard, his body glowing faintly under the moonlight. He focused magicules into his limbs, trying to force a surge of power through his body. For a moment, he felt it—his blood humming with potential.Then—BOOM.

He shot backward like a bullet, crashing into a stone pillar. His vision blurred. The world spun. And then...Darkness.

From the shadows, a worried maid who had been watching from a distance rushed forward. She had seen him leave and had been keeping an eye on him, just in case. She knelt beside his unconscious body, checking for injuries. Finding nothing serious, she gently carried him back to his bed, tucking him in.

Maid (softly): "You're reckless like your sister... but just as brilliant."

A couple of hours after fainting from exhaustion, Kaelen stirred awake on his bed. His limbs ached and his mana flow felt sluggish, but his determination remained untouched. Sitting up slowly, he looked at his hands and clenched them.

Kaelen (thinking):I pushed too much mana in last time. If I reduce the output... maybe I can stabilize it.

Silently, he slipped out of bed and returned to the garden under the moonlit sky. With deep breaths, he concentrated again, carefully weaving mana through his muscles — this time in smaller, more refined threads. His body shimmered faintly with bluish-white arcs. He had managed to replicate Godspeed, though the intensity was far lower. Still, his movements felt sharper, faster — not quite supernatural, but enough to spark hope.

By the time he looked up again, the first hints of sunrise glowed over the horizon. With a quiet sigh of satisfaction, Kaelen returned to his room and curled under the covers to rest again before morning.

The household buzzed with excitement after breakfast. A sparring match had been scheduled — Kaelen against his older brother, Allaric. Everyone gathered in the courtyard: maids, knights, and even their mother and Lyra stood by the edges of the training ground, watching curiously.Allaric had trained in martial arts since the age of six. Tall for his age, broad-shouldered, and confident, he cracked his knuckles with a smirk.

Allaric:"Try not to cry when you lose, little brother."

Kaelen stood across from him, a slight grin forming.Kaelen:"I'll surprise you."

As soon as the signal was given, Allaric lunged forward like a panther. His first strike aimed for Kaelen's shoulder — fast and precise.

Kaelen barely dodged, instinctively activating his new technique. Lightning-like energy flickered across his body — a subdued version of Godspeed. For a moment, he closed the gap between them and landed a swift counterblow.

The crowd gasped. Even Lyra's eyes widened in shock. But the moment was short-lived.

Allaric adjusted quickly, tanking the light blows and retaliating with a brutal side kick. Kaelen's movements began to slow. Maintaining Godspeed was draining — his magicule reserves were nowhere near stable enough for sustained use.

With a heavy punch, Allaric landed a clean hit to Kaelen's gut, sending him flying across the training yard. Kaelen tumbled and rolled, before lying still.

Allaric (panting slightly): "He's fast... I'll give him that. But he still has a long way to go."

The match was over. The younger brother had fallen.

Later, as Kaelen rested on a bench with a cloth pressed to his cheek, his mother stood beside Lyra, watching him with concern.

Mother:" Take him to his room he exhausted his magicule resivor"
