Chapter 41
The Obsidian Heart of Obsession
Anna's POV
The solid mahogany door of my private condo clicked shut behind me, but the silence did nothing to quell the earthquake inside. My whole body vibrated with a white-hot anger, a terrifying, consuming fury that threatened to shatter every fragile thing I possessed. I was genuinely losing my mind.
"Aaaargggggghhghh," I screamed, the guttural sound muffled by the thick, luxurious carpet. I walked with frantic, purposeful strides toward the built-in wine room, my gaze falling on the dark bottles. I needed something potent, something strong enough to quench the inferno raging inside my chest. I needed to feel light, to feel okay, to feel soft and forget myself completely in the numbness of the liquor. Tonight, the only thing that mattered was destroying the idyllic image of Val and Hazel I'd been forced to witness.
