At the hospital…
Athena leaned over the counter, her fingers tapping restlessly against the steel surface as Dr. Gary noted something down from Damien's test results. The hum of machines filled the silence but her mind wasn't quiet.
Finally, she spoke. "Dr Gary… can I ask you something, and I need you to be honest with me."
He looked up from the clipboard, his expression wary but patient. "You've never been afraid to ask before. What is it?"
Athena hesitated, her voice dropping low. "Is there… some kind of black market here? A place where things like drugs could be sold… or maybe night gatherings where wolves go wild?"
Dr. Gary froze, his pen stilled halfway through the paper. His jaw tightened and for a long moment he didn't answer.
Athena thought maybe he was going to shut her down, like Gina had but then he sighed, leaned back against the desk and rubbed his temples.
