Chapter 2 - Prologue

The woman and doctor paused, looking at her. Their expressions were anything but pleasant. At least she could say that for just the doctor, but the woman seemed quite intrigued instead.

"Um, are you sure that's what you want?"

"I am very sure of what I want but if you're not okay with it I'll just leave" she answered

"Yeah, I think you should probably go look after the babies" the doctor recommended.

Aida hesitated a bit, but it wasn't too obvious that she didn't want to leave. She had to take a chance. That could probably trigger the woman to stop her. She is the desperate one here. Then, she sighed and turned sharply, taking two steps closer to the door, when a sweet yet troubled voice stopped her.

"Wait! Please… stop"

She turned to face the woman, her hands hanging in the air slightly as if she would give Aida a high-five. A hint of desperation lurked in her eyes, she let out a soft sigh, folding her palms into each other, and took a step closer to Aida, leaving a few, a bit fewer inches between them.

"I'll give you the money, but we have to sign an agreement, you're never going to show your face to claim the child later in the future" she paused again.

"I detest the babies anyway, I could give you both of them but I love my brother and one will hold his memory for me" Aida concluded.

"Hmm, that explains it," Silence filled the air as they stared at each other, the woman's expression was perplexed. "I'm Mirabel" she added as she gestured a friendly shake towards Aida. She quickly took her hand, her face filled with a grin"

"Um… that's enough… shall we carry on with the process" she said, pulling her hands off Aida's, her face now consumed with disgust. She turned slowly to the doctor who nodded at her as he swiftly pulled out a pile of paper.

Aida could hardly read, she just hoped she wasn't signing her life into trouble. She staggered towards the desk, the other two eyes fixed on her like she was some convicted human. She picked up the pen, peeping at them and trying not to lose her breath with humiliation, she finally hurriedly signed the papers after moments of contemplation and eyes squinting from trying to read what was in the documents out loud but hell no she could hardly spell a letter. She sometimes wondered how she could speak correctly yet she couldn't read.

Mirabel's face brightened as soon as she saw the signatures intact, she almost rushed in for a hug with Aida but pulled away after she took a second look at her.

"Where is the money?"

"Oh, I'll arrange that for you, we could go to the bank from here to get it."

"Or… preferably, send it to me then I can arrange it for her ma'am, I wouldn't want you to stress," the doctor said, his face wore mischief and manipulation.

"No! I don't want your help" she snapped, flashing her eyes widely at the doctor who was already boiling with rage.

"I'll arrange the baby for you ma'am" the doctor added, storming out of his office, leaving the two women in there. Soon, Aida rushed behind him to the ward. She pointed at Johan. The innocent baby seemed to be hungry because his whaling gave all the hints away.

"Carry that one, he cries too much," she said, pouting her lips before looking away. The doctor paused, sighed, and slowly bent to carry the baby.

"I hope you don't regret this," he said and walked away.

She followed behind him back to his office.

Mirabel quickly stood up, rushing towards the baby, she collected the baby, her eyes fixed on him as she admired him, appraisals rushed out of her mouth endlessly accompanied by a wide smile that refused to disappear.

The two women left the hospital with their babies clinging to their chests.

"You can ride with me so you can get your money, I'll ask my driver to drop you home" Mirabel mentioned.

She nodded without hesitation, gushing into the back seat. She could feel the air on her skin stand hard. She's not nervous, just the excitement of sitting in a luxurious car with a wealthy woman.

Maybe Monica's death wasn't a bad one after all, at least she provided assets for her to make money but she had no plans of giving out Jason. Only because Jason was her late brothers name and he took her brother's nose.

She doesn't care about Monica, she just want to remember her brother anytime she looks at Jason.

Hours later that felt like days, they finally arrived at Mirabel's gigantic royal-looking mansion, maids welcomed them in and took the baby from Mirabel.

Another maid tried to get Jason from Aida, she hesitated, pulling away, a frown settled on her face.

"Why? No" she glared.

"It's okay, she's going to take care of him and you can have him back when you're ready to leave" her voice sounded elegant, she probably hasn't tasted any poverty in her entire existence.

Aida smiled and released the baby, bowing seamlessly. The maids walked away without a glance, they looked like they were being controlled.

"Wine please" Mirabel called, a man rushed out with a straight face that shows that he could never make a slight mistake, it was as if he had been waiting to hear the word, his suit tightly clung on him, two glasses dangling between his fingers and a bottle of champagne in the other. She watched as the man poured and she could swear she saw his hands trembling.

"So, I hope I don't get to see you again after today hun?" Mirabel asked, drawing Aida's attention back to her as she received a glass from the butler, raising it to her lips elegantly.

She nodded, before responding. "Yes, I won't bother you, you can keep the baby forever"

Soon, the door pushed open, and the driver walked in with a briefcase in his hand, holding it like his life depended on it.

"Oh, your money is here, I didn't get your name…"

"Aida" she responded, eyes wandering over the briefcase, she couldn't wait to touch it.

"Right, it's nice working with you… Aida, Jonny will drop you home when you're ready to leave. I have to go now. Don't forget the agreement" she added. The maid came back with the baby, handing it over.

She carried he baby, and the briefcase a little too tight as she stormed out of the mansion. Her face couldn't stop smiling as she walked, she couldn't wait to get home to count her money.

After a long hour drive, she got home and rushed into the house, the locks made a click sound immediately, she dropped the child on the silk bedsheet mattress who was now fast asleep.

"Ah, I'm richhhhh…"
