When they were done, the trolley was wheeled away, and the room settled into the quiet of the night. Seo Jun lay on one side of the large bed, his back to Do Hyun. He could feel the dip of the mattress as Do Hyun lay down on the other side, leaving a respectful, yet charged, space between them.
In the silence, Seo Jun's thoughts began to spiral. He glanced over his shoulder, stealing a look at Do Hyun's profile in the moonlight. It's been four years, he thought, his heart aching with a familiar, bittersweet pain. Four years since he found me, broken and lost. Four years of him sleeping next to me, taking care of me, raising Ha-Ru as his own… He calls him 'father' with so much love.
His mind, as it so often did, drifted to another man. Min Jae. The name was a ghost in the room. If Min Jae wanted me, Seo Jun reasoned, the thought a sharp blade he turned over and over, then he should have fought to find me. He should have moved heaven and earth. But he didn't. He never came.
