Chapter 20 - CHAPTER TWENTY – Letters Without a Name

Munir's House – Sunday Night

Kamal stepped out of his room, dressed in a sleeveless shirt and casual lounge trousers. In his hand, a sheet of paper — neatly written in the language of the heart. He paused by the window, reading over what he had written, as if reciting the secrets of his soul.

Kamal (thinking):

"She might not have saved my number… but maybe, just maybe — if I write something soft enough to reach her heart — a song, or a verse she'll understand isn't a joke — maybe she'll listen."

He sat on a chair, crossing one leg over the other, and carefully copied the verses onto a fresh piece of paper. When he was done, he folded it neatly and slipped it into an envelope. On the front, he wrote in clean white letters:

"To the voice that sings, and the heart that hears… From someone who's been listening, from afar."

As he walked toward the door to leave, he bumped into Munir in the living room, a newspaper in his hand.

Munir (looking up with a grin):

"Whoa, where are you off to this late with a letter like that? Turning into a love messenger now?"

Kamal (smiling):

"I'm just handing it to a post-office girl — to deliver it to a university girl. I know where she stays. The story's already spreading."

Munir (shaking his head slightly):

"You're heading straight into trouble. Don't forget what her father ordered the security guards to do."

Kamal (taking a deep breath):

"I'm afraid of her father… but I'm more afraid of losing her completely."

Next Morning – Pharmacology Class, Hall 3

Zuhra walked in, dressed in a soft gold hijab and a flowing, elegant jalabiya. Rushna was at her side, both of them scanning the room for a seat in the middle. Zuhra sat down, eyes wandering, though her heart was still ringing with the words she had read on WhatsApp the night before.

Just then, they saw Hiba — a classmate — walk in, holding an envelope, looking like someone delivering a sacred message.

Hiba (standing before Zuhra):

"Zuhra… someone asked me to give you this. He didn't say much — just said you'd understand."

Zuhra took the envelope with a curious expression. She opened it slowly, her heart beating fast. Inside was the message:

> **"This is a song of the heart, not of the voice.

I heard your voice from afar,

but my heart received your message louder than your sound.

I've been listening to you… even in your silence.

– The one you don't yet know…"**

Zuhra carefully folded the letter and slipped it into her folder. But inside her chest, something stirred, something deep. She glanced at Rushna, but said nothing — just closed her eyes, as though hiding something heavy.

Elsewhere – John and Usman

From a balcony window overlooking the hall, John and Usman stood watch — quietly observing Zuhra's every move.

Usman peered through his sunglasses, while John scribbled in his notepad.

Usman (in a low voice):

"That boy's got guts… but if Brigadier finds out someone's sending letters to his daughter—"

John (nodding slightly):

"Then it's over. But hey… no number, no talking. It's just spirit speaking to spirit."
