Chapter 7 - I mass-murdered people while I was removing my curse

The next morning, when sunlight falls on the land, Fig wakes up and takes a bath. He then goes to the room where his master told him to come.

****

The house interior was simple: one big hall, one door on the left side leading to the bedroom, one door next to it for the toilet, and one door leading to an empty room where Fig practices his mana training and where his master always changes its formations according to Fig's needs. Lastly, there is one trapdoor in the hall leading to the basement where Fig's master...

****

In the room, the master had already prepared to get rid of the curse. The walls and floors were carved with square-shaped runes, glowing little by little. Each rune was carefully drawn and full of ancient mana.

"Fig, before we start, let me confirm one thing, did you know you are cursed?" the master questioned, floating in the middle of the runes, his hands on the center runes on the roof.

"What? I am cursed?" Fig said, wide-eyed, mouth open, eyebrows raised.

"Huh, like expected, you're clueless. Leave the talking for later, come and lay down below me," he ordered.

Fig swallowed his saliva and then lay down at the center. The floor was cold, and the runes below him were emitting light. Suddenly, the runes attached to his body, leaving him unable to act. He then looked at the roof; it was full of lines interlocking each other, making ancient angles like a universe puzzle, but beautiful.

The master raised his hand, murmuring words from his mouth so ancient that it even made the air around tremble. Then a small amount of light appeared at his fingertips, traveling through the runes in the wall, roof, and floor, connecting them together. The light cycled twice in the entire room, then a sudden flash erupted around Fig, light intense in his eyes. For a moment, it was as if his body had lost all its weight.

Then it calmed down, the runes slowly losing their light.

"I knew it; the curse is cast upon your bloodline," he then stated. "Fig, now you have two options."

While Fig sat up, rubbing his hands where the mana had burned his skin, he asked, "What are they, master?"

The master met his eyes. "Either you endure it during the process, unlikely you will survive or you erase it on a grand level." He paused. "By grand level, I mean ending your whole bloodline, just leaving you behind."

Fig took a deep breath. "My bloodline? Do I even have anyone? Even if I do, they left me in the forest to die. It is better, hundreds of times better, if they die than I endure unimaginable pain," he thought.

"Do it, master. End it," he said without a single hesitation in his eyes.

The master prepared himself for the spell, looking into Fig's eyes. "Brace yourself then," he said, As Fig heard this, he closed his eyes, lay back again, ready to embrace the pain.

The master started casting the spell.

The spell, unlike before, was something Fig had never experienced. It was neither fire nor poison nor lightning that fell into him; he was experiencing a similar magic that had been used to teleport him in the forest. Even though he didn't know it, his body remembered it.

And then the spell worked; he screamed as mana entered through his blood, The mana violently cleared all the cursed blood, Then the master quickly fed him a bottle full of dragon blood, and all the cleared blood started to gather in the air.

suddenly Fig felt the world around him shatter. Gasping, Fig opened his eyes and sat up, his whole body trembling.

He then glanced at the air; his blood was floating and then, in a second, it vanished.

"Fig, it's over. You can go to sleep," knowing Fig would collapse.

"Mas—" Fig collapsed and fell on the ground.

"Hahaha, it felt good after such a long time using magic on this scale, but I still don't know how many people died in this. Hope not many died," he laughed, shaking. He then checked on Fig's body, seeing that all was good, and he vanished into the air to rest.

People of the same bloodline as Fig all experienced a sudden heart attack and died on the spot.

Like that, Fig and his master, without knowing the exact number of people, mass murdered 234,499 people, completely eliminating Fig's family's whole bloodline.

A full day passed. The next morning, Fig woke up, and in front of him was his master staring at him.

"Master, is there something on my face?" while rubbing his eyes, mouth full of water.

"Good job enduring pain. The curse is gone now, but that doesn't mean you can slack off. Get back to training," while looking down at Fig.

Fig nods his head.

"What are you nodding about? I am serious here. From now on, you will be following a this schedule," handing over a paper to fig.

Fig takes a glance at the paper.

1. Every morning, collect specific herbs; without finding them, you are not allowed to come back home.

2. Every afternoon to evening, muscle exercise to build a perfect body, starting with 10,000 push-ups, 5,000 pull-ups, 5,000 squats, etc...

Finish this in one week. After 10 years, I expect you to be able to finish all of this in just one hour.

3. Every night, gather mana and have sessions learning magic.

After reading, Fig freezes and stares with wide eyes.

"Master, isn't it a bit too hard? Completing this exercise in an hour, even if this is for the future, is a bit too much," gives a cute stare and a cute smile, hoping for mercy.

"Yes, it is a bit too much. From tomorrow onwards, you are not allowed to step foot in the house until you finish first 2 tasks." He then hands over another page containing pictures of the herbs he wants today. Fig then quietly leaves the house to complete his task.

Like that, days passed, months passed, years passed, and 7.5 years went by in the blink of an eye.

In these 7.5 years, Fig initially struggled to complete tasks. Every day, he pushed his body beyond his limits. After months passed, he was getting the hang of it, but his master increased the training even harder every time he saw Fig was easily able to complete it.

During these years, while collecting herbs, he also met twin lady elves and made friendships with them.
