Chapter 7 - A Journey of Dreams and Longing

At the beginning of his second week in London, Victor was waking up early.

The air was bitterly cold, and the streets bustled with people moving in every direction.

He tried to maintain order in his new life, but the feeling of loneliness never left his heart.

Not far from where he stayed, the university was just a short walk away.

He began meeting new people—many from diverse cultural backgrounds—which made his experience in London both exciting and challenging.

On his first day of classes, he met a few classmates who were also studying the same major.

As they discussed academic projects and future job opportunities, he felt a spark of excitement.

He noticed the determination in their eyes and tried to present himself as confident and strong, just like them.

But deep down, doubt crept in.

With every question about his future plans, he felt the weight of uncertainty pressing down on him:

Was he truly capable of succeeding here? Or was he simply trying to fill the emptiness inside, caused by the distance from his family?

As the days passed, Victor began working a part-time job.

He took a position as a waiter at a popular café in London.

The job was far from easy—he dealt with customers speaking all kinds of accents and often felt exhausted after long hours.

Yet, every time he returned to his small room, emotions would wash over him.

He'd fall back into memories of his village.

He remembered his days with his family, and how his mother, Eileen, had always encouraged him to chase his dreams—even when they felt so far away.

At the university, Victor continued meeting new classmates.

Some were kind and welcoming, while others subtly highlighted the cultural gap between them.

But over time, he started adjusting to his new environment.

At work, he met people who urged him to stay in London, telling him about the many opportunities in the field of business management.

One day, during a break between lectures, he received a call from his mother, Eileen.

He always felt a sense of comfort when hearing her voice—but this time, she sounded tense.

She asked how everything was going in London, and whether he was happy there.

He told her he was doing well, but he couldn't bring himself to tell her about the loneliness that gripped his heart.

He simply reassured her that he was working hard to achieve his goals.

Still, he couldn't hide the longing in his voice—a deep yearning for the days he left behind in the village.

At the café, Victor met a young man named Mike.

Mike was a fellow student at the university and worked there too.

Over time, he became a close friend to Victor, constantly encouraging him to hold on to his dreams.

From Mike, Victor learned how to cope with pressure, how to balance work and study.

Yet there were still times when anxiety gnawed at him—fears of falling behind, of losing himself in this vast city, of drifting too far from his family.

At night, after a long day of lectures and work, he would return to his tiny room in London.

He'd glance at the photos he'd placed on the wall, reminders of the family he left behind.

But this time, he began imagining a version of himself in the future—someone changed, someone proud of all he had achieved.

With each challenge, Victor felt himself growing stronger.

But deep down, he knew his heart still belonged elsewhere...

Back home, where he truly felt he belonged.
