The dark portal remained open.
The entire building was shaking.
Alexander stood in front of Aiona.
She was still unconscious.
He looked at the portal.
Several powerful auras were coming from the other side.
The demon who had attacked them smiled.
"They are here."
Alexander said nothing.
The first figure slowly stepped through the portal.
Then another.
Then another.
Three demons appeared.
They were not like the demon Alexander had just defeated.
Their presence alone made the air feel heavy.
The old politician fell to his knees.
He could barely breathe.
One of the soldiers whispered,
"Those things..."
"They are monsters."
The first demon looked around.
"So this is where he is."
The second demon looked at Alexander.
"Yes."
"That's him."
The third one smiled.
"The one we have been searching for."
Alexander looked at them.
"Are you the higher demons?"
The first demon nodded.
"We are."
"You should come with us."
Alexander shook his head.
"No."
The demon frowned.
"You don't understand."
"We are not asking."
Alexander looked down at Aiona.
Then back at them.
"You hurt her."
The demons laughed.
"Is that what matters to you?"
Alexander's face became colder.
"Yes."
The first demon raised his hand.
"Then take him."
The other demons moved.
In an instant, the room filled with dark energy.
The walls began to crack.
The floor broke apart.
One demon rushed toward Alexander.
Alexander disappeared.
The demon looked around.
"Where did he go?"
A fist suddenly struck him in the stomach.
BOOM!
The demon flew backward.
He crashed through the wall and disappeared into the street.
The other two demons froze.
Alexander stood beside Aiona.
He had not even moved from his position.
One of the demons stared at him.
"Impossible."
Alexander looked at him.
"You came here expecting me to be weak."
The demon's face became serious.
"Then we will make you weak."
He raised both hands.
Thousands of dark roots burst from the ground.
They rushed toward Alexander.
Alexander moved quickly.
He dodged one.
Then another.
Then another.
The roots followed him everywhere.
One came from above.
Alexander caught it.
Another came from behind.
He broke it with one hand.
The demon became angry.
"Hold him!"
The roots became faster.
Alexander suddenly stopped.
He looked at the roots surrounding him.
Then he looked at the demon.
"You keep using the same trick."
The demon smiled.
"Because it works."
Alexander grabbed the nearest root.
A bright light suddenly spread from his hand.
The dark root began to burn.
The demon screamed.
"What are you doing?"
Alexander released the root.
It disappeared into nothing.
The other roots began to disappear too.
The demon stared in shock.
"Light?"
Alexander looked at his hand.
A soft glow covered his fingers.
"I don't know what this is."
"But I know one thing."
He looked directly at the demons.
"You're not taking me anywhere."
The second demon rushed forward.
His fist was covered in dark energy.
Alexander raised his hand.
Their fists collided.
BOOM!
The shockwave destroyed the remaining windows.
The demon was pushed backward.
Alexander did not move.
The demon looked at his hand.
It was shaking.
"How..."
"How can you be this strong?"
Alexander said nothing.
Then he heard something.
A faint voice.
"Alexander..."
He turned around.
Aiona's eyes were slowly opening.
"Aiona?"
She looked at him.
"What happened?"
"You were attacked."
She slowly sat up.
Then she looked toward the demons.
Her eyes became serious.
"Oh."
Alexander looked at her.
"You should stay here."
Aiona smiled.
"You know I won't."
The demons looked at both of them.
The first demon suddenly laughed.
"Interesting."
"You two care about each other."
Alexander's eyes narrowed.
"Don't touch her."
The demon smiled.
"Then come with us."
"No."
"Then she dies."
The room became silent.
Alexander looked at Aiona.
She looked back at him.
For a few seconds, neither spoke.
Then Aiona smiled.
"Don't worry about me."
Alexander shook his head.
"I'm not leaving you."
The higher demon raised his hand.
"Then both of you will die."
Dark energy began filling the room.
The demon prepared to attack.
But suddenly...
A strange sound came from the sky.
BOOOOOOM!
Everyone looked upward.
The ceiling exploded.
Something had entered the building.
The demons stopped moving.
Alexander looked up.
Aiona looked up too.
A huge shadow appeared above them.
The first demon's face suddenly changed.
"No..."
The second demon stepped backward.
"That can't be."
The third demon whispered,
"Who called him?"
Alexander looked confused.
"Who are they afraid of?"
The shadow slowly descended.
And then...
A voice echoed through the broken building.
"You demons have made a very big mistake."
Alexander's eyes narrowed.
Someone else had arrived.
And even the higher demons...
Were afraid.
