Dawn broke over Barcelona like a soft watercolor, but Sam was already awake, lacing his running shoes on the balcony of his penthouse overlooking the city. Kayla stirred in bed, half asleep, watching him with a knowing smile.
"You've been back less than a week," she murmured, "And you're already up before the sun again?"
Sam grinned, adjusting his hoodie. "No rest for the Football God".
Truth was, it wasn't just discipline; it was necessity.

[System Daily Quests:]
...
The familiar blue screen hovered before him, a silent reminder of what drove him.
[Daily Quest – Physical Conditioning]
Morning job: 8 kilometers Gym session: 2 hours Skill drills: 1 hour
[Reward: Physical Conditioning Elixir (Fatigue Recovery)]
[Penalty for failure: System lockout]
~----~
Sam exhaled deeply.
Even after winning every trophy imaginable, even after proving that he was the best player in the planet, the system never relented. It demanded his fire never dim but continue to blaze like a furnace.
And that became the catalyst. The Barcelona bromance reignited.
On his first morning back, Sam texted his Barcelona brothers:
[Lamine Yamal: "Up. 5AM. Bring your boots."]
[Gavi: "Don't make me drag you out of bed."]
[Pedri: "We're not skipping this. Grind never stops."]
[Alejandro Balde: "Sunrise run. Be there."]
By 5:30 AM, the five of them jogged through quiet Barcelona streets, hoodies up, sweat misting in the cool air.
"Bro," Lamine panted, "we just came back from vacation… why are we doing this already?"
Sam glanced at him with a grin. "Because this is how legends stay legends".
Balde groaned. "I forgot how insane you are".
Gavi, running just behind, smirked. "Insane? Nah… this is greatness. I still can't forget that goal this f*cker scored against us in the Round of 16".
"Oh, you still remember that?" Sam laughed. "Now, that is exactly why you guys should never stop running if you want to stop me".
"Bastardo!" Gavi cursed.
The others laughed.
After the run came relentless gym circuits, then finishing drills at an empty training pitch. Even Pedri, the most composed of them, collapsed at the end, laughing.
"You're a machine," he said to Sam. "One day, you'll kill us".
Sam's grin was wolfish. "Not if you become machines too".
The bromance reignited instantly, forged once more in sweat and unrelenting grind.

[Pre-season Clash:]
[Daegu vs Barcelona]
[Date: 4th August, 2026]
[Venue: Daegu Stadium, South Korea]
News outlets already plastered it all over their screens.
FC Barcelona will return to South Korea this summer for the first time in 15 years! On August 4th, they will face Daegu FC in a warm up friendly match.
August 4th arrived, and the massive Daegu Stadium in South Korea throbbed with anticipation. Banners of Samuel Moses waved like holy relics, fans chanting his name long before kickoff.
But as the lineup was announced, murmurs rippled through the stands… Sam Moses wasn't starting.
Hansi Flick had been clear. "You've been off for months. We ease you in".
So Sam sat on the bench in a black tracksuit, smiling faintly as fans roared just at the sight of him.
The first half was without Sam.
The official starting lineup for both clubs were confirmed an hour ago.
FC Barcelona started in a 4-2-3-1 formation, with Jose Garcia, the new FC Barcelona goalkeeper starting in between the posts. Ahead of him was the defensive quadruple of Jules Kounde in right back, Ronald Araujo and Pau Cubarsi in center defense, and Alejandro Balde in left back.
Pedri and Frankie de Jong started as the twin center midfielders, while Gavi started further ahead as the center attacking midfielder.
Lamine Yamal started in right wing, Raphinha down the left as the left winger, while Robert Lewandowski led the line as the starting striker.
Daegu FC started in a 4-3-3 with Choi Young-eun, Daegu's established first-choice goalkeeper in between the posts. Ahead of him was the defensive quadruple of Hwang Jae-won, Bruno Lamas, Caio Marcelo, and Edgar.
The midfield trio comprised Cesinha, Daegu's captain and midfield anchor, Edgar, and Isaac Osei. The 3 men up front were Geovani in right wing, Jatoba in left wing, and Eduardo leading the line as the striker.
FWEEE!
The match began at a frenetic pace.
Barcelona, still finding preseason rhythm, dominated possession right from the onset but laced the cutting edge Sam usually provided.
In the 10th minute, Pedri slipped a perfect through ball to Lewandowski, who clipped the post after doing the hardwork of holding off his man with impressive upper body strength.
In the 21st minute, Daegu nearly stunned Barca with a counterattack, forcing Ter Stegen into a diving save.
In the 29th minute, Lamine Yamal dazzled on the wing, nutmegging his marker and firing just over the bar.
Barcelona was dominant, just not clinical in front of goal.
In the 40th minute, Gavi battled fiercely in midfield, earning cheers for a crunching tackle and quick outlet pass to Balde, who surged forward but had his eventual cross cleared.
Despite moments of brilliance, the scoreboard read 0-0 as halftime approached.
From the bench, Sam studied every movement, every weakness in Daegu's shape. The system hummed quietly in his mind.

Spot vulnerabilities for second-half entry.
~----~
Sam was surprised.
This was a facet of his system that he never knew of before now. 'Is it evolving, as I'm getting better?' Was the question that crossed his mind.
'Or am I just getting better at reading games after 4 years in the pro scene?'
He leaned toward Hansi Flick. "Coach," he said, calm but electric, "I see where we break them. When you're ready… unleash me".
He sounded arrogant, but to his coach, he didn't. Hansi Flick already established a culture of open-mindedness in FC Barcelona, giving his players the freedom to voice their thoughts and doubts at any moment.
He gave a small nod. "Second half. Show them why you're the best".
As the halftime whistle blew, fans began chanting louder, sensing what was coming.
In the tunnel, Sam peeled off his tracksuit, revealing the iconic Barcelona jersey beneath. The cameras zoomed in, capturing his focused expression.
Daegu Stadium erupted.
The Football God was about to step onto the pitch.
