The Brothers Galdin and Vilda
Episode 5
After entering the City of Wonders in search of Thomas Ferza, Galdin and Vilda encountered a series of strange events—among them, a scuffle between Thomas and a man who was swiftly defeated. When they tried to talk to him afterward, Thomas refused their help and told them not to bother him again.
Disheartened, the two brothers stepped out of the café.
Vilda: "What do we do now?"
Galdin: "We have no other choice but to wait until he cools down… then we'll try speaking to him again."
Vilda: "Alright then, let's sit over there."
Galdin: "You go ahead. I'll grab some food and be back shortly."
Vilda sat down while Galdin went off to buy food. As he waited, Vilda noticed a towering man entering the café, fury written all over his face.
Inside, Thomas was quietly sipping his coffee when the giant stormed up to him.
Man: "You! How dare you lay a hand on my brother?"
Thomas ignored him.
Man: "Finish your coffee quickly and meet me behind the café. I'll be waiting."
Thomas smirked.
Thomas: "No need to wait—I'm done here."
Watching from a distance, Vilda saw the man lead Thomas toward the back of the café.
Vilda (to himself): "What's going on?"
Behind the café, the giant turned to Thomas.
Man: "I'll avenge what you did to my brother."
Thomas: "You people are nothing but scum."
Suddenly, the man lunged at Thomas with a punch. Thomas dodged with ease, leaping back and grabbing his cane. He launched a swift strike, but the giant blocked it with his elbow. Thomas jumped high and came down like a spear, using his cane, but the man stepped back and caught the weapon, swinging it aside. Thomas clung to his cane and kicked the man square in the face, sending him crashing into the wall.
But Thomas softened his fall with a nimble flip and landed back on his feet.
Man: "No wonder my brother lost to you."
Thomas: "Your brother was weak. And you… you're just a little stronger than him."
The giant roared in anger.
Man: "Steel Body Spell!"
His skin turned to solid steel, and he charged at Thomas, smashing through a wall with a punch.
Just then, Galdin returned with food.
Vilda: "I saw a huge guy walk into the café, then he left with Thomas. They went behind it!"
Galdin: "What?! Let's go!"
Thomas was struggling now, dodging the giant's relentless blows. He looked exhausted. When the brothers arrived, the giant landed a heavy hit that sent Thomas crashing into a wall.
Vilda: "Why isn't he using his cane like before?"
The giant sneered.
Man: "Maybe my brother was sick or something. Either way—you're dead!"
He leapt into the air, yelling:
Man: "Crushing Blow Spell!"
At that moment, Galdin noticed Thomas's lips moving.
Thomas (muttering): "Damn it… I just need two more minutes!"
Something sparked in Galdin's heart. He knew Thomas would die if he didn't act. Suddenly, electric sparks burst from his eyes. His veins glowed blue, and his hands surged with crackling energy. He sprinted like a bolt of lightning toward the giant, yelling:
Galdin: "Shashouki Lightning Magic!"
BOOM!
The giant collapsed, convulsing violently from the electric shock. His steel body had only made it worse.
Galdin stared at his hands in disbelief, then passed out on the ground.
Thomas: "What the…? Where did you get that power?"
Galdin: "I… I don't know what happened to me!"
Thomas: "What? How can you not know?"
Galdin laughed weakly, unable to explain.
Thomas: "Damn it. Now I owe you both. Fine—I'll help you."
Galdin and Vilda lit up with joy and thanked him from the bottom of their hearts. But suddenly, the giant stood again, furious.
Man: "How dare you attack me like that?! I'll rip your eyes out!"
Galdin froze in terror, but Thomas stepped in. He tossed his cane high into the air.
Thomas: "Cane Transformation Spell – Second Form!"
The cane morphed into a massive iron hammer, which Thomas used to strike the man's head, knocking him out cold.
Afterward, Thomas urged them to leave quickly. They went to a luxurious restaurant and had a full meal—courtesy of Thomas.
Vilda: "Why didn't you use your cane from the start?"
Thomas: "My cane has conditions. I can't use it again until thirty minutes have passed. I used it twenty minutes ago. Galdin bought me the time I needed."
Galdin: "No, no! You're super strong! Hahaha."
Thomas (thinking): You're stronger than me… You just don't know how to use that strength yet.
Then he said aloud:
Thomas: "You two want official Wizard Cards, right?"
Galdin and Vilda: "Yes!"
Thomas: "There are three steps. First, we go to the library to get your identification documents. Then we visit a registrar. Finally, we go to the Grand Council."
He added:
Thomas: "You're lucky to have me with you. I'll try to get those cards issued without any problems."
Galdin and Vilda were overjoyed and thanked him from the depths of their hearts.
And so, episode five concludes with Thomas finally convinced to help them…
But what awaits them in episode six?
