Chapter 67 - A Hidden Edge In The Arena

The clash of blades rang one last time. Kareth's grip on his showed signs of slipping.

I shifted my weight, the earth itself lending me strength. My strike slid past his guard, the flat of my blade slamming against his ribs with a crack that sent him sprawling.

"Hmmph!" Was the sound he made as the air was slapped out of him.

He hit the ground hard, his weapon clattering away.

I stood over him, my blade pressed lightly against his chest, the edge whispering a promise of humiliation rather than death.

His eyes were wide, disbelieving, his chest heaving as if he couldn't comprehend that someone who hadn't even changed into Inner Circle robes had beaten him.

The courtyard that had been roused and rowdy just now fell almost completely silent.

It was mostly silent, save for the ragged rasp of his breath. Then a low murmur spread through the gathered members.

I lowered my blade slowly. "Do you yield?"
