Chapter 9 - The Anger Boiling Within

Furious footsteps can be heard in the hallway of the university. Every student is stepping away from her path. She whose eyes are narrowing, brows furrowing, and fists clenching.

"She's the class president who's obsessed with that guy, right?"

"Like that guy is not even rich or popular. I can't believe she will stoop down to that guy's level."

Those words put her to a halt. She turns her head around. The woman's eyes widen as her hair gets yanked by Nelly.

"What did you say?!"

Her eyes turn aside, and her other hand moves quickly; grabbing the back of the other woman's polo shirt who's running away

"You bitches! You don't even know him."

Nelly's hands tremble. "Yet you speak like you know how kind he is!"

She drags them closer to her and throws them away. Both women hit against the row of locker rooms, they end up losing consciousness.

Nelly is panting, and she slides her hand inside the pocket of her skirt. She brings out a black towel.

"I still remember that day when no one was there to be with me."

She puts the towel closer to her chest. She closes her eyes and rests her back on the wall behind her.

"You are my savior from the sadness that once took over me."

In her mind, she sees her savior's smile. She smiles widely and sniffs the towel.

Sitting on a chair with ropes tied around his body, Nicholas is facing Ella who's sitting on a chair in front of him.

"Alright, I'll tell you."

Ella opens her lip to speak but Tanya speaks, "He's here!"

"Who?" Ella glanced at Tanya.

The lock of the doors splits in half, and the chains fall on the ground. Ella looks over her shoulders, and her eyes narrow.

She clenches her fists. "You're here, Juan the leader of the red bat gang whose name is stinky as fuck."

A tall bulky man with red hair fixed in a mohawk steps inside the warehouse. He puts his bat over his shoulder and smiles slyly.

"Ella Aguas! Our paths have crossed once again!"

Ella stands up and kicks her chair, sending it flying towards the wall, and it falls apart.

She bends her neck from side to side, cracking her neck. "I was supposed to use him for my other plans but I heard you have a crush on Nelly, and wanted her to be yours."

She looks at Nicholas, and steps aside, pointing her finger at him.

"He is the one that she wants. He is the only hindrance in your way of having her."

Nicholas blinks, and yells, "NO! That's not true–!"

Tanya slaps the back of his head. "Shut up."

Nicholas flinches and looks straight at Ella. She maintains her tough gaze on Juan while waiting for his words.

Juan smiles and taps his foot repeatedly against the floor. He laughs and swings his bat.

"Then, what do you want?"

Ella hums, and wraps her forearms around her chest. "What I want is that you let go of that 'place' that I want you to let go."

Juan smiles before laughing. The group of men behind him burst into laughter, but behind them, a young woman had her eyes fixated on Juan and Ella.

"Hey! I am not just some stuff that you can offer like that!" Nicholas shouted, wriggling against the rope around his body.

Ella chuckles and turns around to face him. Her eyes mimic a smile as she smiles a little.

"You are nothing. You couldn't even compare to anyone in the class," Ella stared down at him, "always scoring 29 in exams, that proves you're just a student who always passes because of being pitied."

Ella's eyes narrow. "So shut that mouth, you worthless lame trash."

Nicholas' eyes grow wide. He looks down and clenches his teeth but he closes his lips, and he starts to drown in his sadness.

"She's right," he spoke in his mind.

"I am nothing. Throughout my entire years of studying, I achieved nothing. I remember those times when my professors always inquired about my parents."

He continues to speak in his mind. "But I remembered, I have no one; no friends, and no family."

"Now, I realized… I wouldn't be thrown in front of an orphanage if my parents wanted me in their lives."

Screams and grunts fill the air. Ella's eyes widen at the sight of Nelly being surrounded by unconscious men while she's holding a wrench.

Blood is falling from the wrench. Blood is visible on her white shirt, and even on her skirt and shoes.

Juan's eyes are widening, and he steps backward in Ella's direction.

Ella's gaze on Nelly is serious and unwavering, her gaze on her indicates that she isn't someone to be easily intimidated.

"Let him go." Nelly raised her bloodied wrench at Ella.

"Why would I? He's not yours to begin with." Ella remained standing there while staring at Nelly.

Her eyes narrow, and her fists are trembling while they're closed. She cracks her neck, and she runs at her full speed.

"I said… GIVE HIM TO ME!"

Juan's eyes grow wide as his bat slips from his sweating hand. Ella runs past him and closes her hands.

"Bring it on, class president!" Ella roared while thrusting her hand.

Nelly lowers her head, and Ella's fist flies past her. With only facing Ella's chest, Nelly swings her wrench, striking Ella's abdomen.

Ella is pushed back by the impact but she remains standing. She spits on the floor as Nelly sways her wrench, back and forth.

"Are you willing to save that lame-ass boy?"

Nelly's veins appear on her forehead and fists. "That 'lame-ass boy' is much more valuable than anything that I have!"

Nelly clenches her teeth and speaks in her mind. "I am going to save him!"

While the fight is unfolding, Nicholas sees a shadow near his shoes. He turns his head up and meets the eyes of Juan staring deep into his eyes.

"Sup, lamey?!" Juan swung his bat towards his face.
