Chapter 10 - Chapter 10: Spirit Beast Soul

Chapter 10: Spirit Beast Soul

After delivering the external soul bones he had collected, Di Tian pulled the Three-Eyed Golden Lion aside.

"You didn't do anything rash to the venerable one, did you?" Di Tian asked nervously.

As the Golden Dragon King, the venerable one would naturally sense the Rui Beast's golden dragon bloodline and the Star Dou fate energy she carried. He surely wouldn't harbor any ill will toward her.

But the worry was—this Rui Beast was too impulsive!

The venerable one currently had a human body and no soul beast aura. Who knew if the Rui Beast had misunderstood and assumed Lin Yun was a regular human?

Thankfully, her answer brought Di Tian a deep sigh of relief.

"No, I just got back," the Three-Eyed Golden Lion said, shaking her head with a childish tone. "Di Tian, I missed you guys. Let's go find Aunt Bi Ji and play!"

Her aloof nature only applied to humans. Toward Di Tian, who raised her like a father and friend, the Three-Eyed Golden Lion was extremely affectionate.

The same went for Bi Ji.

"No rush. Let's first see if the venerable one has any further instructions. If not, I'll take you to find Aunt Bi Ji," Di Tian said, ruffling her golden head before turning his gaze back to Lin Yun.

At that moment, Lin Yun was staring intently at the five external soul bones before him, deep in thought.

The five pieces included: the right palm bone of a ten-thousand-year Dark Gold Dreadclaw Bear, the Eight Spider Lances from a ten-thousand-year Man-Faced Demon Spider, the wings of a hundred-thousand-year Blue Shadow Divine Eagle, the tail of an unknown soul beast, and a multicolored, diamond-shaped crystal resembling a gemstone.

Of course, the Star Dou Forest possessed more than just these five external soul bones. But these five were the highest in both quality and age.

Among them, the Blue Shadow Divine Eagle's wings stood out as the best.

Lin Yun was familiar with this soul beast—it was a king of wind and a dominator of the skies. When it spread its wings, its speed could outmatch nearly any soul beast of the same tier.

In the Sea God Pavilion, Elder Song—mother of Xian Lin'er—possessed this martial soul. Even at Rank 97, her flight speed could nearly rival an Ultimate Douluo, assuming they didn't use spatial power.

That alone spoke volumes of its strength.

The moment Lin Yun laid eyes on that Blue Shadow Divine Eagle bone, he was tempted. While the Golden Dragon King did have wings, his transformation process resembled the partial dragonization of the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon.

Given his current soul power level, he couldn't withstand full-body dragonification. He could only manage partial transformation—specifically, a portion of his right arm.

Being able to manifest dragon wings would likely take until he reached Soul King or even Soul Emperor.

At that rate, who knew how long it would take?

But with this Blue Shadow Divine Eagle soul bone, he could bypass the growth phase and gain the ability to fly instantly—at full speed no less.

A hundred-thousand-year external soul bone!

As for the one from the Man-Faced Demon Spider—the same as Tang San's—he immediately tossed it aside. Lin Yun really didn't understand why Di Tian had brought such an unsettling soul bone.

The ten-thousand-year Dark Gold Dreadclaw Bear's right palm bone also caught his attention.

His Golden Dragon Claw already had terrifying destructive power. If combined with the rending ability of the Dreadclaw, he could probably slap someone to death with a flick of his hand.

That left the tail bone and the diamond-shaped crystal...

"What's this?" Lin Yun asked curiously, picking up the fingernail-sized crystal and glancing at Di Tian.

He truly hadn't expected this thing to be a soul bone.

"Replying to the venerable one, that is from a deceased clansman of the Yao Ling race. It is a spiritual-type external soul bone," Di Tian explained.

The Yao Ling—ranked last among the Ten Great Ferocious Beasts—was also the most mysterious. No one knew what its abilities were. No one even knew what its true form looked like. All they had was a name: Yao Ling.

Just hearing that name piqued Lin Yun's curiosity.

As a transmigrator familiar with the plot, there were few things left that could truly intrigue him—but Yao Ling was an exception.

This damn thing never showed up throughout the entire Peerless Tang Sect arc. It only made a brief appearance during the Legend of the Dragon King period, asserted its existence for a moment, and then vanished again.

Its abilities and race were never clearly described in the entire Douluo Dalu storyline. There were only vague hints suggesting its powers were similar to the Ten Thousand Demon King—both possessed spiritual attributes.

"Tell me more about the Yao Ling race. I'm pretty curious," Lin Yun said with interest.

"That guy…" Di Tian's tone turned a bit complicated at the mention.

"The race is called the Time-Space Yao Ling. It also descended to the Douluo Continent after the God Realm war, and originally wasn't a native species. Its inherent attributes were time-space and spirit."

"But for some reason, after arriving here, the Yao Ling's powers were suppressed—or perhaps its bloodline was weakened. Its combat capabilities, once centered on its time-space abilities, were reduced to the point of uselessness."

"The whole Yao Ling clan was affected. Stripped of most of their combat strength, they now reside in an alternate dimension the clan carved out together. Even I rarely see them."

As he finished speaking, Di Tian used soul power to form an image of the Yao Ling's true form based on his memories.

Well…

It looked like a floating, oversized eyeball. Perfectly round, no limbs or features, glowing faintly with a mysterious dark blue light.

Give it some tentacles and it would look exactly like the Evil-Eyed Tyrant Lord.

"This thing is the Yao Ling?" Lin Yun was stunned.

"Yes, that's it," Di Tian nodded, then shook his head with regret. "It used to be a powerful race. Now, all it can do is escape using spatial force and rely on spiritual control."

Lin Yun turned his attention back to the diamond-shaped crystal in his hand.

So this external soul bone from the Yao Ling likely fused at the center of the brow, just like the pupil-type soul bone the Evil-Eyed Tyrant Lord dropped in the original story?

And its abilities were now probably limited to spatial evasion and spiritual control. Honestly though, Lin Yun could really use powers like those right now.

In the future, when he grew strong, of course he wouldn't need them—his fists would be enough to crush everything.

But at this stage, he hadn't grown up yet. The more techniques he had at his disposal, the better.

With a thoughtful nod, Lin Yun made his decision.

Good. He would take this external soul bone.
