Chapter 8 - Plans

~ Third Person Pov... ~

'Never in a million years would I have thought we'd have a biology class on Planet Vegeta…' Kairo internalized, now watching as the instructor scrawl some basic diagrams of Saiyan musculature across the holo-board...

Starting with glowing lines traced out tendons, bone density, and muscle fibers in meticulous detail, but the other students didn't seem particularly impressed or interested in it. Most actually leaned back in their seats, arms crossed, either half-listening or outright ignoring the lecture. Some had even began sleeping...

The instructor, being a relatively young looking female Saiyan with some light scars running along her jaw, tapped the diagram with a stylus looking device;

"This is why our bodies recover faster than most races. The damage we take forces adaptation. Adaptation breeds strength. And that, young warriors, is why none of you should ever fear injury." Her eyes quickly scanned the room sharply: "Fear dying before you can make use of it instead."

'The lessons aren't so bad... It feels like any other school in this regard.' Kairo thought.

[I agree... It seems the Saiyans are much more aware of how they work in this reality.]

'I guess they kind of do... Actually, this is a biology class...'

However, Kairo now had his own set of ideas...

He then raised his arm...

The teacher seeing him, smiled: "Go ahead."

"I'm curious about something ma'am... Since you've been studying creatures all this time on this planet. Are you aware of any that might have stamina or longevity that stands out to you?"

The teacher looked thoughtfully at Kairo as he asked, answering;

"Yes. I do... Many in fact. But the one that stands out the most, are the Kalis... However, before I continue, may I know your name?" She then asked.

"It's Kairo ma'am." He answered.

The teacher's eyes widened: "...You're Kaina's child?" She asked once again.

Kairo nodded: "Yes... She's my mother."

However, upon hearing that, the teacher gave a slight, yet pitying look to the boy. Of course, it didn't go unnoticed by Kairo...

"Alright... now for your question." She turned around and tapped the holo-board, and the image shifted to a long, sinewy creature with a sleek body, ridged scales, and deep crimson eyes, continuing;

"The Kalislive in the upper highlands of the southern part of our planet. They're not amongst the strongest predators, but they hardly ever stop moving. Day and night, they prowl, climb, hunt, mate, and patrol their territory without stopping. Their stamina is frankly, absurd."

The diagram flared with labeled muscle groups: "Their muscle fibers and blood are laced with an unusually high density of something called mitochondria. Think of them like the little engines inside cells that make energy.

And, they have a set of hearts that are terrifyingly efficient, pumping much more than twice as efficiently as any other known creatures on Vegeta. They can run at full speed for. let's just say, eight days straight without collapsing, give or take. No need for food breaks either... Does that answer your question?"

As she finished, a few students laughed at the number, but the teacher's expression didn't change...

Kairo leaned forward slightly, brow furrowing: "Thank you for answering... But, I have another question… If a Saiyan somehow gets 100% of those same traits, all of it. How much more stamina would they have compared to before?"

Her brow rose, saying: "That's an, interesting thought..."

'I may have pushed my luck on that one...' Kairo thought for a moment.

However, she answered: "Well... If an average Saiyan's endurance was let's say one unit, a Kalis would be sitting somewhere around… A hundred-ish units. That's not exaggeration either.."

The teacher paused, almost as if weighing whether to answer. Finally, she then continued: "To give a better example. Theoretically. A Saiyan like that could fight at full strength, non-stop, for days before exhaustion even became a factor. In fact, you'd likely burn out from old age before you ran out of breath." She explained, smiling faintly, before continuing;

"In short, no battle would truly outlast that kind of Saiyan... Chances are, they would likely outlast an entire war, if not any war itself."

Kairo thanked her: "Thank you for answering my questions."

"No problem." She said, now continuing on with her lessons...

Kairo on the other hand, was beaming within himself;

'Nexus, I think you know what I'm about to do next...'

[Of course! Head home and train!]

'...No, dude... We're going to find that thing and get it. Right now, Stamina is one of, if not my biggest concern right now. Whatever comes after, comes after.' Kairo thought.

[Oh, I suppose that works too...]

Kairo sighed to himself: 'I may not have access to insects and other species from earth, but this is Dragon ball. They might have decent alternatives until then. Assuming earth even exists in this universe.]

Eventually, class had finished, leading him to his next class...

'So, I guess this is it.' Kairo thought, reading a neon sign saying - Battle Tactics.

He headed in and stood at attention... However, as he did so, he saw a familiar face;

'Wait a minute... Isn't it that the same old man that offered me lessons?'

The old man, broad-shouldered yet with a lean frame that showed the years hadn't dulled him even a bit, he clapped his hands once. The sound practically snapped across the room like a whip...

"Sit." He ordered.

Every Saiyan child in the class did exactly that, some of course were still wearing smug grins, others just slouching into their seats... Kairo made sure to sit near the back, but still studying the man.

'Yep… that's definitely him. The same old man who offered to teach me the other day,' Kairo thought.

The old man's eyes swept the room like a hawk scanning a battlefield. Then, just for a fraction of a second, his gaze stopped on Kairo. His mouth curved into a sly smile before his expression returned to stone.

"Now." The old man said, planting both hands behind his back: "Tell me... What do you think tactics are? Anyone can answer."

The room stayed quiet for a moment until Aka stood up and answered: "It's when you come up with a plan to beat your enemy, sir."

The old man nodded slowly, then tilted his head: "Not bad for a response..."

He started pacing, boots clicking softly against the floor: "But let me tell you something. Tactics are more than just 'a plan.' Anyone can make a plan. What matters is this..." He jabbed a finger at his temple;

"...Tactics are about using your mind when everyone else is only using their fists. They're about making sure your own squad lives, and theirs doesn't. They're about turning even a weak fighter, into a living nightmare for their enemy."

He paused, glancing across the classroom again, his tone dropping low; "You can have all the power in the world, but without tactics, you're just a brawler waiting to die. A Saiyan who understands mental warfare…" His smile returned, sharp and unsettling;

"That's a Saiyan who survives long enough to become a legend. Whether it be yourself, or through others..."

The old man snapped his fingers, the moment he had, holographic pop-ups appeared in front of all the children.

"Listen well... What you all see in front of you are simulations. Some are through questions for theory, others through psychological situations, and lastly, through combat. I will judge you based on what you all do, say and respond to. Is that clear?"

The entire class had nodded in response...

Kairo on the other hand, he had a strange feeling that these classes were going to be his worst nightmare.
