Chapter 17 - Rejected!

Chapter 16

It has now been a week since Max's encounter with Camila and when he found the cash gift from her.

And since that day, he managed to change his wardrobe, renovate the small house to be a little liveable.

He had also stocked the place up with food, and now he was no longer starving or looking tattered.

Yes, he could have taken part of the money to go rent an apartment in the better parts of town but he refused.

His reasoning was that, the slums was quite peaceful. It was far away from prying eyes in the bustling hub of town. He was able to clear his head here and live peacefully without being troubled.

After all these were done, Max decided to take a hold of his life more since the money given to him by Camila was only remaining five thousand.

So today, Max was ready to go for a job interview. He had searched the whole house and found the previous owner's CV.

Though an eighteen years old and couldn't attend college, the previous owner did manage to have some good results from high school.

While also doing some odd jobs to help make life liveable. And it was the CV Max is about to use for the interview.

Dressed in a sharp black suit and pants. He had also taken the form of Damian, his blue hair neatly combed back, his suit straightened to perfection as he glanced at his reflection in the small mirror in the room.

"Looking sharp." Max grinned as he grabbed his file and walked out of the house.

And now, he was on the streets looking at the kids running around happily like they usually did.

He smiled and kept his pace while occasionally glancing at his watch that displayed the time.

"8:00"

"Interview starts at nine." Max muttered as he picked up his pace and soon enough, he was in an alleyway that led to another neighbourhood with houses joined together.

He was about to step forward when he suddenly felt something as his eyes glowed a tinge yellow and then in a flash, he immediately sidestep just in time.

SPLASH!

A bucket of water was emptied on the ground where he stood a moment before. Glancing up, he could see a woman who looked disheveled and slightly unkempt like the others in living in the slum.

Her black eyes widened in shock as she stared at the handsome young man in front of her.

She wasn't actually shocked because of how handsome the man looked, it was for the fact that she almost ruined his seemingly good outfit with a bucket of water.

"I'm so sorry." The woman pleaded as she quickly walked down the small stairs and stood directly in front of Max who raised an eyebrow at her.

'Right! This was the woman that drenched me the first time I woke up here after being transmigrated. I had sensed the water coming already today, I was unable to avoid it that day because of how occupied my mind was.' Max thought with a sigh and then smiled at the woman.

"It's fine, I'm good." Max said and then turned to leave while the woman stared at his back as he was now quite far away.

"Why does he seem familiar?" The woman thought as she was unable to recognise the new face.

And that was because the person she had drenched the other time, was Max. This fellow is Damian so she is unable to recognise him.

"That was close. If I hadn't sensed it instantly, I would have gotten late for the interview. I really hope I get this job." Max muttered as he finally passed another alleyway again and now was in the busy parts of town.

He hailed down a cab, gave it the address to the company he was headed and soon enough, he was on the way.

A few minutes later, he arrived at the company. Paid the driver, then he walked into the building with a confident smile and gait.

'Even though this place looks quite new and different from where I came from, it still has similarities with it. And I'm confident that even with how young this body is, my brain and experience from working at the Silverwing enterprise would land me this job.' Max thought as he now sat at the reception hall with a few more applicants as they awaited when they would be called in.

"Lucas Jane!"

An attendant called out and a female seated across of Max stood up and went into an office where the interview was supposed to take place.

A few minutes later, she was back out with a disappointed sigh on her face as the attendant came out again and glanced at the sheet in her hands.

"Damian!"

"Right here." Max called out as he stood up and walked into the office along with the attendant.

Walking inside, Max could see the not so big office which had a few things in it.

A huge table which a single male sat behind on a swirling chair with a deep frown on his face as he stared at Max.

'Tch! Not worth my time. His handsome face would cause a lot of trouble for the company espe…' the man thought as he tilted his head to stare at his attendant who could barely keep her eyes off of Damian.

"Sorry, I can't give you this job." The man muttered without even allowing Max to sit down talk more of handing the CV over.

"What?" Max exclaimed in shock as he stared at the man with his mouth agape.

"I didn't stutter now, did I? You can't be given this job. Next!" The man called out.

"Bu…but you haven't taken a look at my credentials yet." Max tried to plead his case but the man shook his head.

"I don't need to take a look at it before I trust my gut instincts. You seem like trouble. So I'm sorry, you can't be given the job. Now kindly take your leave."

'Huh? The fuck is this?! How can he just conclude that I look like trouble? What kind of injustice is th…'

"How many males are outside?" The man asked his assistant.

"About five of them." The attendant replied.

"And the females?" The man asked again.

"About seven."

"Great. Send all the males away and leave the females for the interview." The man said and the assistant nodded before leaving.

'Oh! I see what's going on here. This man is a god damn pervert!'

"I thought I said you should leave just now." The man roared as he glared at Max.

"You could have just put it in your flier that you were looking for women instead of stressing me out you pervert!" Max roared as he grabbed his file and walked out the office in anger.
