Race: Human

True Race: Origin of Xentari

Talent: Swords

Abilities: ?

It was already dark and there wasn't much to see. The only source of light was the bright moon in the sky.

Amon was sitting on a fallen tree, looking at the system interface in front of his face.

"Xentari race, huh?"

He noticed that his true race was different, but he didn't pay much attention to it. It wasn't even his original body. What mattered more was that his stomach had been growling since earlier, and he still couldn't find food anywhere in this forest.

"Sigh... I should've just asked those two earlier how to get out of here."

He looked up at the moon while talking to himself. He also noticed it was slightly larger than the one in his original world.

"Swish."

While staring at the moon, he suddenly heard something move in the tall grass beside him. He stood up and slowly walked toward the sound.

When he got close, he saw a fat, slightly large animal with white fur and red eyes.

"A rabbit? I got lucky, huh? Haha!"

His eyes lit up and his face filled with joy. Finally, he had something to eat.

He jumped at the rabbit to catch it, but just as he did, the rabbit jumped too and kicked him in the face with its small feet before running away.

Amon was left sitting on the ground, watching the rabbit bounce away. A footprint was visible on his cheek.

"You kicked me and ran away? You really think I'll just let you go?"

He stood up and chased after the rabbit, his face showing anger. At the same time, a dangerous and intense killing aura started to leak from his body.

The rabbit felt the murderous intent coming from behind. It looked back and saw Amon chasing it. The rabbit started running even faster.

Amon saw that the rabbit was speeding up, and he began to lose confidence. It was too dark to see clearly, and the path was hard to follow.

[NEW ABILITY UNLOCKED. DO YOU WANT TO USE IT?]

[YES or NO]

Just as Amon was about to give up, the system screen showed up. A happy expression returned to his face.

"Are you seriously asking that? Of course, yes."

[NEW ABILITY UNLOCKED]

[ABILITY NAME: SOUL EATER]

[SOUL EATER: CONSUMES THE SOULS OF BEINGS. ABSORBED SOULS INCREASE THE HOST'S STRENGTH. THE STRONGER THE SOUL, THE BIGGER THE BOOST. THIS ABILITY ALSO IMPROVES BODY STRENGTH, SPEED, NIGHT VISION, AND SENSE OF SURROUNDINGS.]

As soon as he accepted the ability, Amon eyes closed for a moment. Ancient words and knowledge flooded his mind. When he opened his eyes, the area around him looked brighter. He saw the rabbit clearly running ahead.

"So this is what having power feels like, huh? Hehe."

He started running again. While he chased the rabbit, he noticed his body felt lighter and faster than before.

Not long after, he managed to catch up to the rabbit. He grabbed it with one hand. The rabbit kicked wildly in all directions, but it couldn't escape from Amon grip.

"You thought you could get away after kicking me in the face?"

Amon smiled. It was a terrifying smile, the kind that would scare even other beasts.

A moment later, dark gray smoke came out from the rabbit's eyes and mouth. It entered Amon's hand as the rabbit shook violently, then stopped moving.

"not fun at all."

An hour passed.

Amon sat again on the fallen tree. He was roasting the rabbit meat over a fire.

"Good thing I learned how to start a fire with just stones."

He looked at the roasting meat, but he didn't feel hungry anymore. Thanks to Soul Eater, it was like he already ate. Still, he decided to cook it so it wouldn't rot. He could eat it tomorrow.

The smell of the cooked rabbit traveled through the wind, attracting a large monster in the forest. It began following the scent toward Amon.

When Amon finished cooking, he climbed up into a thick tree branch to sleep. He didn't even know how he managed to climb so high. He just jumped. He placed the rabbit meat beside him to stop any animals from stealing it while he slept.

"Tomorrow is my second day in this world."

"I wonder how Flora's doing..."

He whispered to the wind, talking to himself, staring at the bright moon. His smooth and handsome face reflected the moonlight, his hair blowing with the breeze. He started to close his eyes.

But just before he could fall asleep, he felt something coming.

He stood up and looked around. Nothing.

He sighed in relief.

Then suddenly, a sharp sensation passed by his head like a blade.

He immediately jumped down from the tree.

He looked up at the branch and saw a massive monster. It had two lion heads, black wings, sharp fangs, and red eyes.

"What kind of monster is that?"

The creature didn't even bother with Amon on the ground. It walked straight to the rabbit meat and ate it with its huge mouth.

Amon could only watch as the food he worked hard to catch was eaten. His face showed regret. That was supposed to be his meal for tomorrow.

[A NEW TASK HAS ARRIVED]

"A task?"

As soon as Amon saw the system, his eyes turned serious. The happiness disappeared, replaced by a cold, emotionless look.

[OPTION 1: KILL REXURNOK AND DEVOUR ITS SOUL TO GAIN ITS POWER

REWARD: ANCIENT BLACK ROBE THAT CAN BLOCK FULL ATTACKS FROM A RANK 4 AWAKENER]

[OPTION 2: RUN AWAY AND HIDE SOMEWHERE SAFE

REWARD: YELLOW ROBE THAT CAN BLOCK FULL ATTACKS FROM A RANK 2 AWAKENER]

"Run away? It ate my food and you expect me to run? Don't make me laugh."

Amon picked Option 1. A black robe appeared in mid-air. It looked scary because of its darkness. Amon removed his dirty clothes, grabbed the robe, and wore it.

He looked up at the tree with a serious expression, then jumped back up. He still didn't know how he could jump so high.

He saw Rexurnok's back and quickly approached. He used his physical strength to throw a punch at its head, but Rexurnok sensed the killing intent and turned just in time to block it with its massive hand.

"Boom!!"

The punch was strong enough to push Rexurnok off the tree. It crashed down, but it quickly stood up again.

"RROOAARR!!"

Rexurnok screamed loudly, Amon's face remained cold and expressionless. He jumped back down and rushed in again.

Rexurnok attacked first, firing sharp black projectiles from its wings. Amon dodged all of them easily and got close. He tried to punch Rexurnok's head again, but the monster raised its sharp claws toward his face.

Amon quickly moved to the side.

Is this monster copying me? he thought. He was targeting the monster's head, and now the monster was going for his.

He kept dodging Rexurnok's deadly attacks. He rolled on the ground, avoiding the strikes. Because of the monster's huge size, he couldn't get close enough to land a proper hit, even though he trusted his own strength. A sneak attack was his only option.

"If only I had something I could use...".

[THE SYSTEM DETECTED THAT THE HOST IS IN DANGER]

[SYSTEM WILL PROVIDE SUPPORT]

[HOST HAS RECEIVED: XENTARI DEMONIC SWORD]

As Amon dodged, the system appeared again. He smiled slightly despite his serious face. He stepped back to put distance between him and the monster.

A black and red sword suddenly appeared in the air, releasing an evil and dangerous aura. Amon grabbed it, and as soon as he held it, the aura burst out even stronger. It released waves of black and red energy.

[XENTARI DEMONIC SWORD REJECTS ITS MASTER]

[XENTARI DEMONIC SWORD REJECTS ITS MASTER]

The words kept flashing in front of Amon.

He grabbed the sword with both hands.

"You don't want to recognize me as your master?"

He held the sword tighter and refused to let go. Blood started pouring from his eyes and mouth.

[WARNING]

[WARNING]

The system kept flashing alerts, but Amon didn't stop.

[THE XENTARI DEMONIC SWORD IS RELEASING A MASSIVE DEMONIC AURA. TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE AREA, THE SYSTEM WILL PLACE A BARRIER]

"Boom!!"

A huge explosion happened in the forest. In just one instant, Rexurnok was turned to ash.

Green Valley Town

Inside a restaurant, people were eating and drinking. Men and women sat at tables, some were drunk, others were still coming in. In one corner, five people sat quietly. Their faces were hidden by hats, and swords rested near their seats.

Suddenly, their glasses shook. Water spilled everywhere. The ground began to shake.

The customers panicked. Some screamed. Others ran outside. Chairs fell over.

But the five people in the corner didn't move at all.

After a while, the shaking stopped. The restaurant was now empty, except for those five.

"Did you figure out where that came from?" one of them asked. His voice was rough and low. A man.

"No. Something is blocking my Astral Insight. I can't trace it," the one beside him answered. Her voice was soft. A woman.

The man nodded slightly. The other three stood up without saying a word, picked up their swords, and left the restaurant.
