"If all of this never happened in the novel, yet it is happening anyway… then what else is happening that wasn't happening in the book?" Nasa complained suspiciously.
Then Nasa saw two dark figures blended into the shadows, talking. He reclined quietly, letting the darkness swallow him while his eyes adjusted to the shapes moving ahead.
When his eyes adjusted, he realized it was Ivy Whitmore and Alex Crystal, the protagonists.
He slowed his breathing and pressed his ear to the roof's edge, listening to what they were saying.
"You're… stunning, Ivy," Alex said softly, a warm smile tugging at his lips.
"T-Thanks, Alex," Ivy replied, her face blooming with color.
"So…. how was dinner? Nasa wasn't bothering you again, was he?" Alex inquired.
"Oddly enough, no. He hasn't approached me once since awakening from that long sleep," Ivy replied.
"Seriously? So we can love freely. without him interfering?" Alex asked, his face shining with joy.
"No… he's probably planning something. He never gives up. He likes me too much," Ivy replied, suspicion lacing her voice.
Who does she think she is? Nasa thought, his anger boiling.
"And he changed," Ivy said.
"Like… how?" Alex asked, curiosity in his voice.
"He cut his hair… the part that covered his eyes. And his golden eyes are brighter than ever," Ivy replied.
"He has golden eyes?" Alex asked, eyes widening in surprise.
"Yes… and he's no longer thin," Ivy continued.
"So… he's fat?" Alex raised an eyebrow.
"No," Ivy sighed. "He's not fat or thin, just… average."
Normal? Bitch, I'm handsome, Nasa thought, a smug yet irritated look on his face.
"Soo… who looks better? me or Nasa?" Alex asked, turning his head, cheeks burning with embarrassment.
"It's… you, of course," Ivy murmured, as if testing the truth of her own words.
"Really, Ivy?" Alex asked, a wide smile spreading across his face.
"Yes… Really," Ivy whispered softly.
Without another word, Alex pulled her into a tight embrace, holding her close.
𝘈𝘨𝘩… 𝘐𝘵'𝘴 𝘥𝘪𝘴𝘨𝘶𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘸𝘢𝘵𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘴𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘣𝘦 𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘭𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘺-𝘥𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘺 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘪𝘵'𝘴 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘺𝘰𝘶, Nasa thought, a pang of disappointment and jealousy twisting in his chest.
Nasa got up and walked away, not caring to see more of this 'couple action' that hurt his ego.
Back in his room, Nasa filled the tub and sank into the ice-cold water. A shiver ran down his spine, but the chill cleared his mind. When he finally stepped out, he slipped into a soft shirt and loose pants.
Then he stood by the window, staring at the bright moon and listening to the night sing with every sound it made.
"Life here is great," Nasa muttered, flopping onto his bed with a satisfied sigh.
The next morning, Nasa woke to sunlight streaming across his face and the cheerful chorus of birds outside his window.
Nasa wiped his eyes as he woke, stretching lazily. Dust particles twinkled in the morning sunlight, and cobwebs hung in the corners of the ceiling. The room had clearly been left alone for a while.
He frowned, scanning the mess. No maids. Not that it was surprising. Ever since the novel's Nasa, had yelled and hit them constantly, the staff had gradually stopped coming to his room altogether.
Nasa smirked, leaning back against the messy sheets. "Well… who could blame them?" he muttered, getting up from his bed.
He got ready for the day and decided to visit the library today in order to study about this world and its history. He hadn't done so before, as he had been busy studying sword arts.
After arriving, he opened the door, grabbed a stack of books, and began reading. Among them was one with the ridiculous title 'Basic History for Dumbasses' which, out of equal parts curiosity and annoyance, Nasa decided to start with.
The Five Continents of the World:
1. Nova – Kingdoms built on trade and ambition.
2. Lumora – Dense, magical forests brimming with ancient wisdom.
3. Rocknor – Mountainous lands rich in mines and home to master craftsmen.
4. Noxmir (Demons) – Volcanic realms ruled by unforgiving, honor-bound clans.
5. Hailburn – A scorched and frozen wasteland, unclaimed and devoid of inhabitants.
All four continents coexist through trade and necessity, except for the demons, who remain everyone's greatest enemy after the brutal Blood Freedom War. Some demons survived the war, but their numbers remain unknown.
"Hah… I see… and Hailburn's like Antarctica, but with fire and ice," Nasa said, nodding.
"And what's Blood Freedom War…? Oh well, I'll read about that another time," Nasa said, shrugging his shoulders.
The ones that gave us powers:
Before we, or anything else, existed, there were six Overgods. These Overgods shaped the universe, creating gods, angels, and, in some cases, demons.
The reason why humans and other creatures possess mana, or can wield swords and powers, is thanks to the Overgod of Dragons.
Among the six, the Overgod of Dragons is the mightiest, surpassing even the others in strength and influence.
Each Overgod has their own assistant, called a Monarch.
1. Monarch of Fire – the chosen hand of the Fire Overgod.
2. Monarch of Water – the chosen hand of the Water Overgod.
3. Monarch of Earth – the favored hand of the Earth Overgod.
4. Monarch of Air – the chosen hand of the Air Overgod.
5. Monarch of Lightning – the chosen hand of the Lightning Overgod.
6. Monarch of Dragons – the chosen hand of the Dragon Overgod.
Like the Dragon Overgod, the Dragon Monarch is also stronger than the other Monarchs.
But don't underestimate the Overgods just because their name sounds similar to 'gods' That doesn't mean they're weak, their strength far surpasses that of any god. They are, after all, literally the creators of the gods themselves.
They are the Absolute, the Creators, the Listener, and more. They go by many, many names, but no living being knows their true title, except the gods themselves. We mortals simply call them the Overgods.
"Hmm, I see… God, Monarch, Overgod… this world has its own history, its own lore… but how is this world a novel?" Nasa said, scratching his head.
Then he let out a slow sigh, but determination soon burned in his golden eyes. A faint grin tugged at his lips as he murmured, "No matter what this world is… I'll become the strongest."
