Chapter 1 - Abandoned at the wedding day

ENDLESS NIGHTS 1

Alessia

At the wedding

One guest remarked, "That girl is absolutely awful!" Another responded, "I know! Can you believe she's been deceiving everyone by claiming she's engaged to billionaire Ethan? Just look at her! How could someone as handsome, charming, and wealthy as Ethan consider marrying someone like her, who seems to trade her body for money? If it's true that billionaire Ethan is set to marry her today, it must mean she managed to charm him into covering her expenses." I stood there with flowers and a ring in my hands, while some people laughed and others whispered about how I didn't deserve Ethan's affection.

Eventually, the priest approached me and leaned in to whisper, "Ma'am, where is your fiancé? Where is Mr. Ethan? We've been waiting for nearly an hour. He should have arrived by now." Taking a deep breath, I replied, "Father, you're aware that Ethan is a businessman, aren't you? He may be caught up with work. Let's wait for him; I assure you he'll arrive in under 30 minutes." The priest nodded in response to my words.

"What the hell is she talking about with the Priest? Maybe she's convincing the Priest to sleep with her again?"

"Where is the groom?" As I was standing, all I could hear were people's voices, everyone was saying what they wanted, some were even criticizing me. Deep down I knew Ethan was going to show up, there was no way he was going to abandon me, especially on our wedding day!

I was patiently waiting for Ethan, but he didn't come. Time kept passing, and I started to feel worried. I looked at my watch and checked the door, but Ethan was nowhere to be seen. I felt so disappointed and confused. 'Where could he be?' But he had forgotten about the wedding, right? As the minutes ticked by, I realized Ethan wasn't coming. I was left to pick up the pieces of my heart. I grabbed my wedding dress and walked towards where the priest was standing, and when I arrived, I said.

"Can I please have your phone, I need to call him before my heart breaks too much." I whispered. He handed me his phone! Thank goodness, I knew the number. I dialed his number and called him, he picked it right away

📱... Ethan where are you. Everyone is waiting. We are getting married today remember?" I said.

"You're just a fool for waiting for me. I'm married, and my wife comes first. You're nothing but a side thing to me. I've used you for my own pleasure, and now it's time to throw you away. You're left with nothing but tears and broken dreams. Get used to being alone, because I'm done with you Alessia. Find someone else to waste their time on, because I'm not interested in you anymore." Ethan whispered, no wait that wasn't him maybe!

"Ethan? Eth...." It was too late; the call had already been terminated. I felt a wave of weakness overcome me, leading me to withdraw my hand from my ear, causing the phone to tumble to the ground. Perhaps I was merely imagining this situation. The man I had fallen for—the individual I loved for five long years—had entered into matrimony? Has he never genuinely cared for me? Was his intention to exploit my affections? Was I truly the most unappealing woman in existence? Did my appearance fail to meet his standards? Or was this merely a reflection of my own despair, prompting him to seek companionship elsewhere? Oh, Lord, You were aware that he never truly loved me; why did You not intervene before he caused my heart to shatter? A fierce heat enveloped me, prompting me to remove my veil and cast it aside. The flowers I held in my hands were discarded as well. I yearned to scream; I longed to weep fervently, yet it felt as though the gaze of everyone in the room was fixed upon me.

"Nah, I've had enough of that humiliation; I'm done. I could still hear Ethan's words echoing in my mind, and it felt like my heart was breaking a little more with every thought, tears just streaming down my face. I grabbed my wedding dress with both hands and bolted outside. 'Hey, miss, where are you off to? Is the wedding off?' the priest yelled after me. But I didn't stop; I kept running and hit the main road where cars were zooming by, all heading home."

Hey there! I'm Alessia Williams, and I'm 22. Let me share my time travel tale with you. I was born in Zimbabwe and grew up in a little place called Gweru. I lived with my Aunt Gini, who's actually my dad's sister. Her full name is Virginia, but we just call her Gini. I lost both my parents when I was really young—my mom had a heart attack, and then my dad passed away from cancer. It kinda runs in the family because even Aunt Gini had her own battle with cancer, which was tough since I was left in her care. When my parents died, Gini stepped up to be my guardian. She took care of my schooling and made sure I was eating right.

When I was in Form 1, she got married and had a baby girl, Mandy, who's now ten. It was just the three of us living together. Unfortunately, Gini and her husband split while Mandy was still pretty little. So, it was just us—my little family. At first, Gini would work, but I suggested she stop because her health was getting worse. I ended up taking care of Mandy, making sure she went to school and had food, just like Aunt Gini used to do for me.

Time went by, and when I turned 18, I ran into Ethan and totally fell for him. He was 26 and a young billionaire. I really thought he'd help out my family, Mandy and Aunt Gini, but that was a mistake. Ethan could be sweet sometimes, but he always said he'd handle the bills after we got married. He had his odd moments; some things he said just didn't make sense. But because I was in love, I just went along with it! If I had known how things would turn out, I wouldn't have let myself grin at him when we first met.

"Back to my crazy day, I was running while holding onto my wedding dress when a car pulled up next to me. The driver leaned out and said, 'Whoa, is the bride running away? Wow, you're stunning! Need a ride?' I grabbed a stone and tossed it at his window, yelling, 'I can't stand men! I HATE YOU! ALL MEN ARE LIARS... He ditched me on my wedding day! Just drive away, you idiot!' I know, I probably wasn't thinking straight at the moment. While I was sprinting, I briefly thought about stopping by the bar on the side of the road, sitting on a stool, and just crying my eyes out. I knew once I got home, Aunty Gini wouldn't let me cry; she always hated it when I did. She'd say, 'I didn't raise a crybaby.' By the way, Aunty Gini skipped the wedding because Ethan told them he'd get them a ride. That's why they were still home.

When I finally reached the bar, I plopped down on a bench outside. While I was there, trying not to let the tears fall, an older guy walked up with a magazine in his hands and said, 'Hey, beautiful. What are you drinking? Champagne? Whiskey? Or...' I interrupted him and said, 'He left me. Told me to get used to being alone. He never really loved me.' 'What?' the guy responded. I stood up, grabbed his shirt, and yelled, 'I said he ditched me! He didn't love me; he was just using me. And get this, he's married!' 'Uh, are you okay, miss?' he asked, and I let go of him, realizing I was being way too aggressive. I quickly said, 'Sorry about that. I'm just really hurt.' He was cool about it, 'No worries. I can't believe that jerk left someone as beautiful as you out here. I was just trying to ask what kind of beer or wine you like.' 'I just need water, please,' I told him. He set the magazine down, and I picked it up to read while I waited. I was surprised to see Ethan Greenwood and some girl in the magazine. 'Mr. Ethan and Mrs. Siena has won an...' Just as I was getting to the juicy part, another car pulled up. I stared at it, curious about who was driving it. The guy inside looked normal, dressed simply. I thought, 'Yep, that's more my style; he looks good but isn't flashy. Those rich types just end up breaking your heart.'

'Here's your water. I'm Jayson, the magazine owner. And you are?' he said. 'So, you're rich and famous too? Great, just what I need. I can't stand people like you. I'm nobody. Just take your water and leave me alone. No flirting with rich guys anymore, especially old ones like you, Jayson.'

To be continued."
