Chapter 4 - The Broken Moon

Glad you're enjoying the story! Here's

Three days later.

Russ stood at the edge of the spaceport, staring up at the fractured satellite that hung in the sky like a broken crown.

The Broken Moon.

Once a barren lunar outpost, now a restricted zone sealed off after Quinn Talen's final battle—where it was said he fought the last of the Ancients and vanished into the Void. No one knew what remained up there.

Now, according to the Legacy System, it was Russ's next stop.

> [Objective: Initiate First Memory.]

[Requirement: Travel to the Broken Moon.]

[Warning: System interference detected. Unknown hostiles present.]

"Fantastic," Russ muttered. "Haunted moon. Possible death. Great vacation spot."

Minny stood beside him, arms crossed. She was back in full gear—black tactical armor laced with silver, twin daggers strapped to her back. "We're not going up there alone. I called in help."

"I don't need babysitters."

"No," she said, narrowing her eyes. "You need allies. You barely survived your last fight."

As if on cue, two figures approached across the tarmac. One was a tall, broad-shouldered guy with blue streaks in his hair and a permanent smirk. The other was a short girl with tech goggles and a mechanical spider crawling on her shoulder.

"Meet Kai and Vee," Minny said. "C-Class mercs. System specialists. Loyal. And most importantly… not morons."

Kai grinned. "Heard you're the heir to a cosmic god. That true, or just good marketing?"

Russ raised an eyebrow. "You always this annoying?"

"Only on Thursdays."

Vee didn't speak. She just scanned Russ with her goggles and muttered, "Blood resonance levels off the charts. Void echo confirmed. This one's radioactive."

"Cool," Russ said. "Glad I'm everyone's science experiment."

---

An hour later, the shuttle broke through Earth's atmosphere, and the Broken Moon loomed closer. Its surface was scarred, torn by past wars. Craters glowed faintly with residual energy—remnants of Quinn's battle.

> [Approaching Target Zone: "The Hollow."]

[Legacy Data Signature Detected.]

The shuttle touched down near a jagged canyon that split the moon's surface like a scar. Russ stepped out, boots crunching on silver dust. Gravity was light. Air was thin. The whole place hummed with ancient power.

Then he heard it.

A whisper—no, a pulse—from deep below.

> [Legacy Trigger Identified: Bloodline Match Confirmed.]

[Memory Shard: Unsealing…]

The ground trembled. A pillar of obsidian stone erupted from the canyon, spiraling upward like a tower.

Kai whistled. "That's new."

Russ stepped forward, drawn by an invisible thread. The pillar pulsed with violet energy, the same hue as his bloodline glyph. As he touched it, cold flooded his body.

And then—reality shattered.

---

In an instant, Russ stood in another place. Not the Broken Moon—but a battlefield.

Flames raged around him. The sky bled shadows. And in the distance, stood a lone figure cloaked in black, eyes glowing crimson.

Quinn Talen.

Russ gasped. "Dad?"

But this wasn't his Quinn. This was a younger, more brutal version—wielding a blade of pure shadow, cleaving through enemies that looked like eldritch gods.

> [First Memory Sequence: Initiated.]

[Observer Mode Only – Combat Locked.]

Russ watched, frozen, as Quinn roared and unleashed a wave of power that tore the sky open.

But then, behind Quinn, something stirred.

A greater presence. One even he hadn't noticed.

A figure cloaked in stars.

And it turned to look directly at Russ.

"You are not ready."

Suddenly, the memory collapsed—flashes of war, screams, whispers of names that should not exist.

Russ collapsed on the moon's surface, gasping.

Minny knelt beside him. "What happened?!"

He looked at her, pale and shaken.

"There's something worse than what Dad fought. And it remembers me."
