Chapter 26 - Chapter 26: The Beast, The Summoned, and The Growing Hoard

The morning sun cast long shadows across the Myrosh castle walls, but within Maegor's solar, the glow of the System interface was brighter. He had just completed the critical phase of consolidating his base, and the rewards, particularly the promise of a Legendary Card, beckoned. But first, the new Uncommon and Common cards.

He touched the first of the two Uncommon cards.

[ Game of Chance Result: Uncommon Item Acquired! ]

Reward: Companion Beast (Uncommon)

Description: A large, intelligent Direwolf, bonded to the Host. Exceptional senses, strength, and loyalty. Provides scouting, tracking, and combat assistance. Fully grown.

Maegor's eyebrows shot up. A Direwolf. A creature of the North, of the Starks. An ironic, yet potent, addition. He felt a stir of power, a connection to a loyal, fierce beast, even before it manifested. It was a silent, powerful guardian, a symbol of primal strength. He knew it would appear when needed, a loyal beast now tied to his service.

He tapped the second Uncommon card.

[ Game of Chance Result: Epic Item Acquired! ]

Reward: Recruitable Units (Summoned) - Epic

Description: Summons a contingent of highly skilled and loyal warriors directly to your location. These units are bound to the System and possess innate loyalty.

Unit Type: 50 Valyrian SwordsmenSkill Level: VeteranEquipment: Valyrian Steel Short Swords, light scale armor.Special Trait:Aura of Discipline (Minor): Presence subtly boosts morale and combat discipline in nearby friendly units.

Maegor's eyes widened, a genuine thrill coursing through him. Fifty Valyrian Swordsmen! Veteran skill, Valyrian steel, and an Aura of Discipline. This was not merely a good card; this was a game-changer. This was an elite, disciplined fighting force, magically summoned and oath-bound to him, ready to be immediately deployed. This was the kind of strength he needed to counter the more unruly Dothraki. This was a force that would earn the "Commander's Presence" ability from his next quest with terrifying efficiency. He suppressed a triumphant smile.

Now for the five Common cards. Less exciting, but still potentially useful.

First Common card:

[ Game of Chance Result: Common Ability Acquired! ]

Reward: Basic Diplomacy (Common)

Description: Improved understanding of negotiation tactics and social etiquette. Useful for establishing peaceful relations.

Maegor grunted. Basic Diplomacy. Convenient, given his next quest's objectives.

Second Common card:

[ Game of Chance Result: Common Ability Acquired! ]

Reward: Basic Fortification (Common)

Description: Fundamental knowledge of castle defense, siege warfare, and basic engineering principles for strengthening strongholds.

Another practical ability. Reinforcing Myrosh Castle, building better defenses for the Dothraki settlements – this would be useful.

Third Common card:

[ Game of Chance Result: Common Item Acquired! ]

Reward: Gold Dragons (Common)

Description: A small cache of standard coinage. Contains 125 Gold Dragons.

More gold. Always welcome.

Fourth Common card:

[ Game of Chance Result: Uncommon Item Acquired! ]

Reward: Longsword (Uncommon)

Description: A masterfully crafted longsword, with a perfectly balanced blade and a comfortable grip. Exceptionally sharp and durable.

An Uncommon longsword! Better than the common one he had received previously. A valuable weapon for one of his Royal Guard, or even himself if he preferred a different style.

Fifth and final Common card:

[ Game of Chance Result: Uncommon Item Acquired! ]

Reward: Gold Dragons (Uncommon)

Description: A substantial cache of standard coinage. Contains 500 Gold Dragons.

Another Uncommon! And a significant amount of gold. Maegor's initial disappointment at the "common" designation had been premature. This was a very productive set of draws.

He closed the System interface, the mental images of the summoned Valyrian Swordsmen already forming. He could feel their presence, waiting for his command, disciplined and deadly.

This changed his plans for securing Myrosh's borders. The Intelligence Report (Uncommon) he had received previously was now even more vital. He had identified the surrounding independent villages and minor settlements, and the remaining bandit threats. Now, he had the means to deal with them, swiftly and decisively.

His approach would be a combination of his new Basic Diplomacy and the terrifying, undeniable strength he now commanded. He would offer terms first, peace and prosperity under his protection, ensuring the safety of their trade and the stability of their lives. But if they resisted, if they clung to old loyalties or harbored hostile intentions, he would unleash a calculated, terrifying show of force. The Dothraki would ride, Balerion would fly, and his elite Valyrian Swordsmen would strike.

He called for Ser Barristan and Ser Kaeto. There was much to discuss. The "Commander's Presence" ability was beckoning, as was the Legendary Game of Chance Card, awaiting his strategic completion of the "Secure Myrosh's Borders and Influence" quest. Myrosh was about to feel the full weight of the Dragon's iron fist, tempered by a cunning mind. The transition from Settler King to outright conqueror of the region was about to begin
