Chapter 8 - Trial Begins!

Aside from his FFF-rank skill Gluttony, Shin possessed another ability—Eyes of God.

He wasn't sure of the reason it appeared on his status panel, but he suspected it had something to do with his ability to see other people's panels.

Driven by curiosity, he opened his panel again and tapped on the [Eyes of God] skill.

Instantly, the skill's description appeared before his eyes.

[Eyes of God]: It's an extremely powerful ability that allows the user to see what others cannot—including status panels.

[Level:] ???

'Hiss!' Shin drew in a sharp breath. 'So, Eyes of God really is the cause of all this…'

He had suspected it from the beginning, but seeing the truth confirmed with his own eyes was a different matter entirely.

After a moment, he managed to pull himself together, but a gnawing sense of unease remained inside.

'Don't tell me… Goddess Quinella didn't notice?' he thought.

If she had, she would have already questioned him—maybe even done something beyond his imagination. It wasn't that he was prejudiced against her, but his instincts warned him.

"Do you have any questions?" Quinella asked, her tone flat as she looked at them.

They all shook their heads, prompting a nod of satisfaction from her.

"Then let's begin the trial."

With that, she brought her palms together. A few seconds later, a white magic circle formed above their heads.

Under their shocked gazes, the bodies shattered into fragments of light and shot up into the sky.

The smile on Quinella's face gradually faded, replaced by a cold, mocking expression.

"I want to see which of them is worthy of entering Solira's world," she murmured with a soft chuckle. "As for the losers… hehehe… let them enjoy their time in the Heavenly Palace. I'm sure they'll love it…"

...

Inside a lonely, desolate limestone cave, a streak of white light suddenly appeared. It slowly expanded before taking the shape of a teenager—Shin.

His floating body dropped without warning, landing hard on the uneven ground.

"Ouch!" he groaned, rubbing his sore back.

But he didn't have time to dwell on the pain—the stunning sight before him caught him completely off guard.

"Where… is this? A limestone cave?" He muttered in awe, swallowing hard.

Stretching out before him was a vast cave of bluish-black limestone.

It was enormous. While he couldn't measure it precisely, he guessed the ceiling reached at least ten meters high, and the area spanned several hundred meters across.

Passages extended in all directions—left, right, behind, and ahead—each one shrouded in darkness, hiding whatever lay beyond.

The stalactites and stalagmites lining the cave ceiling sparkled under the light that reflected through small crevices in the stone. They were undeniably beautiful—but massive. Standing beneath them, Shin felt tiny.

If even one of those stalactites fell, he would be crushed into nothing more than a pile of flesh.

Once he calmed himself, Shin turned his attention to his status panel.

[Status]

Name: Shin Arthur

Age: 16 years old

Race: Human

Status: Alive

Level: 1 (0/100)

Class: –

Talents: STR (C), INT (B), VIT (C), AGI (E), LCK (B)

Skills: Gluttony (FFF) 0/100, Eyes of God (Unknown)

[Description:] He was a weak young man thrown into a strange world. The loss of his younger sister left him depressed and drained of the will to live. Objective: To save his sister.

As he scanned through its contents, something odd caught his eye.

"Hmm? What's this? Progress? Why is there a progress bar on my Gluttony skill?" he muttered, stunned.

Curious, he tapped on the skill, and its description appeared before him.

[Gluttony]: A skill once wielded by an ancient god. It allows the user to absorb the life essence of other living beings and make it his own.

[Status]: The rank can be increased by absorbing skills from other creatures and converting them into points. However, only skills of equal or lower rank can be used as points.

[Progress]: 0/100 (FFF)

"This skill can be upgraded? Damn… is this real?" Shin gulped in disbelief.

Still, after everything he had experienced so far, his mind had grown stronger. He didn't let the shock consume him for long.

"This is good news. At least I won't be stuck being labeled as the only one with an FFF-ranked skill," he muttered with a wry smile.

To be honest, he felt deeply ashamed of having an FFF-rank skill. No matter how tough he tried to act in front of his friends, he couldn't fully hide the discomfort and inferiority that gnawed at him.

Fortunately, that anxiety faded the moment he realized his skills could actually improve.

Snapping out of his thoughts, he glanced around the cave again, hesitation creeping into his mind.

"So… what should I do now?"

He recalled that Quinella had mentioned an entity called the Administrator—someone who would explain the four main missions, along with any side quests.

But so far, there was no sign of that figure. Just as he was beginning to feel lost in confusion, a notification panel suddenly appeared before him.

Startled, he flinched—but quickly calmed down and began reading its contents.

["Hello, everyone! Let me introduce myself. I'm Sylvia—the Administrator Quinella mentioned. Nice to meet you all!

Alright, enough with the pleasantries. Here's how it works: the four main missions are the requirements for ten of you to qualify for Solira's world. The side missions, on the other hand, are optional but offer various rewards—skills, level points, and more. You're free to ignore them if you want, but they're worth considering.

That's all for now. The first main mission will be revealed in the next twenty-four hours. In the meantime, you may begin with the side missions that will be assigned. Good luck!"]

As soon as Shin finished reading, the panel vanished—only to be replaced by another.

[Main Mission]: 23:59 (Countdown)

[Side Mission]: Eliminate two nearby Crystal Wolf monsters.

Reward: 10 Level Points

Penalty for Failure: None

Shin's brows furrowed slightly as he eyed his surroundings with caution.

"Two Crystal Wolf monsters? Don't tell me there are monsters all over this place and I didn't even notice?"

Just as the thought crossed his mind, two soul-shaking roars echoed in the distance.

ROAR!

Shin: "…"
