Chapter 32 - Chapter 32: Upper Moon Two

The sky full of black peach blossoms fluttered down and dissipated like smoke. On the battered arena, only pure ice remained, with crystal-clear, beautiful ice lotuses blooming everywhere. The Infinity Castle returned to silence once more.

All the demons who had witnessed this battle remained silent.

"Her strength was passable," Kokushibo commented faintly in his mind, his expression unchanging.

Akaza frowned tightly, seriously considering the feasibility of challenging Doma for his position. This guy is indeed not weak, and his abilities are somewhat of a counter to mine. Now that he's eaten Enyo, he'll only become stronger. It won't be an easy fight for now. Mmm, I'll go back and train harder! As for Enyo? He didn't care at all. Just because he was unwilling to challenge her didn't mean he didn't dislike the woman.

"Eeeeek—so scary!" Hantengu hugged his head, trembling from start to finish.

"What an astonishing battle! Ah, I have inspiration again!" Gyokko swayed his body, his mind filled with his art.

"Sigh, he didn't die," Nakime lowered her head over her biwa, feeling a little regretful, but also strangely relieved. She had been pestered for decades; if Doma were suddenly gone, it would actually feel a bit strange. Huh? Why would I even think that? Shouldn't Doma's death be a cause for great celebration? For a moment, Nakime froze, feeling as if her world had collapsed.

Muzan, on the other hand, looked at Doma, who was crying with emotion on the stage, and frowned. Has this guy developed feelings? He certainly disliked Doma's lack of emotion, because without emotion there was no fear or reverence, and he couldn't read situations, always acting inappropriately. But if Doma suddenly developed emotions, he felt it might not be a good thing either, and he would likely become even more uncontrollable.

Thinking this, Muzan began to probe Doma's thoughts. He rarely read Doma's thoughts because the ideas in this guy's head were too abstract and disjointed; he was afraid of being contaminated. But upon connecting, Muzan sensed Doma's heart was once again as calm as still water.

"I knew it. This guy is still acting." Muzan looked at Doma's tear-streaked face and expressionlessly kicked him out of the mental link.

On the stage, Doma sat in the lotus on the shoulder of the Sleeping Lotus Bodhisattva, looking at the now pure and flawless block of ice in the Bodhisattva's hand, unable to stop his tears. The emotion from before had already faded. He wiped the frozen tears from his face. The characters engraved in his rainbow eyes had quietly changed to "Upper Moon Two."

"That was so moving, Lady Enyo!"

"Such a tenacious and unyielding life force is simply miraculous!"

"But Lady Enyo died just like that..." Doma covered his face and wept sadly. "If Lady Enyo hadn't been so tenacious, I wouldn't have eaten you..."

"To die because of the very instinct to survive... it's so absurd."

"I'm so sad, sob, sob, sob—"

He retracted the vast expanse of ice, bowed to Muzan, and watched as he coldly disappeared behind the wooden door. Doma showed a dejected expression, then leaped onto the wooden platform where Akaza was in a few bounds. Doma felt he needed Lord Akaza's comfort.

"Lord Akaza~ I'm so sad!" he cried, rushing towards him with open arms.

Akaza dodged to the side in disgust, the corners of his mouth pulled down in a "don't you come near me" expression.

"How can you be so cold and heartless, Lord Akaza~" Doma, having missed his target, turned around and said with teary eyes, his expression full of accusation.

"Biwa woman, send me back!" Akaza didn't want to see this guy for another second.

Twang—

The sound of the biwa rang out, and Akaza's figure vanished in an instant.

"Eh? He left already?" Doma tilted his head and wiped away his tears. Oh my, Lord Akaza is still so shy. I just don't know what to do with him~

"But it's okay. I'll go find Lord Akaza to play in a couple of days," Doma said with a radiant smile. "Ah, right, I should also deepen our bond through telepathic messages~" He cupped his cheeks, feeling that the days to come would be very exciting and interesting.

The sound of the biwa continued, and the Upper Moons left one after another. Before leaving, Gyokko waved his small hands at Doma with great enthusiasm. "Congratulations, Lord Doma! To celebrate, I will gift you my next work."

"I believe Lord Doma will surely love it!" After saying this, he eagerly went off to create his art.

"Eh? Wait a minute!" Doma reached out his hand, watching helplessly as Gyokko disappeared before his eyes. "Sigh—Lord Gyokko's enthusiasm is really quite troublesome~" he muttered to himself, then looked up at Nakime with a smile. "Miss Nakime, in the future, it's probably best not to randomly transport Lord Gyokko to my home." He showed a dejected expression. "Otherwise, it will be a real headache for me."

"I understand," Nakime was curious, but she didn't ask.

Doma nodded in satisfaction, then closed his fan and tapped his chin in thought. "I feel like this might easily hurt a friend's feelings."

"Ah! In the future, I'll go visit Lord Gyokko instead. That way, I won't have to always see his works, right? And it won't hinder our bonding..."

"The best of both worlds! I'm so clever!" He clapped his hands and shook his head happily.

Casually pushing the matter to the back of his mind, Doma looked at Nakime with sparkling eyes.

Nakime: Please stay away from me!

"Miss Nakime~ A craftsman I found a few days ago made a violin for me," Doma said with a smile. "Would you like to try a new instrument?"

Nakime shook her head and hugged her beloved biwa tightly.

"Oh my, Miss Nakime, you shouldn't always be so old-fashioned. Trying new things will make you feel younger! Just like me!"

Like you? That's truly terrifying, Nakime thought to herself.

Doma, on his own accord, took out his violin. Immediately, the sound of sawing wood echoed through the Infinity Castle. "Huh? It's a bit difficult the first time." Doma scratched his head and enthusiastically continued to saw away with the bow. The terrible noise reverberated around, like a long and mournful howl.

Nakime silently raised her hands to cover her ears and curled into a ball. Ah, as expected, my brain must have been broken before. Why didn't this guy just die today? Can someone please take him away!

"What an exhilarating night! Miss Nakime~ I'll come find you to play again next time." After playing with great interest for a while, Doma waved his violin bow at Nakime with a smile.

Nakime showed an expression of great relief, her right hand trembling slightly as she picked up the plectrum and joyfully sent Doma away.

"Oh my, it seems Miss Nakime is very happy. She's so happy her hands are shaking." Sitting in his room at the temple, Doma still had an innocent smile on his face. "As expected, Miss Nakime loves music the most. I should talk to her more often in the future, otherwise she'll feel very lonely, right?"

"I can't help it. I'm just such a gentle person, always thinking of others." Doma nodded in confirmation and leisurely walked into the courtyard. He looked down at the Founder's robes on his body, then looked up at the moon, which had not changed in decades. "Mmm, I hope Lady Enyo can be reborn."

"Ah, that's not right! She's in hell now, isn't she?" he covered his lips with his hand and smiled embarrassedly. "How depressing." Doma muttered in a low voice, then turned his head to look at a corner, his eyes suddenly lighting up. With a speed invisible to the naked eye, he pounced and accurately caught a cricket hiding in the grass.
