"Jesus.." Nicole cursed under his breath. Without much of a second thought, Nicole sped up excessively, jumping from 60 mph to 90 mph, losing the two, not for long, though. Axelle and Waylen, who were still in the van, were napping.. when they woke up due to the suddenness of the situation..
Waylen jolted up from his seat, his hair disheveled due to his previous unconscious state. Axelle, the more composed one sat up, waking up from her slumber aswell.
"What the heck is going on?" Waylen spoke, his voice deep with sleep.
"they found us.." I spoke.
"Who found us?" Axelle asked, calmly now sitting up properly.
"...Nathan. And all the information you have to know is that they are to run away from."
Axelle and Waylen looked reasonably suspicious, but did nothing other than sit in their seats silently. Christian got up, walking to the driver's seat, and I could hear him asking to drive.
Oh brother.
Nicole was hesitant, but managed to carefully switch with him without the speed decreasing. Don't even ask me how they did that. Christian was still speeding, everyone holding onto something as he did. He was definitely going over 120 mph now. He may have the most valid driver's license out of the four of us, but I know for a fact no one here trusts him to go over 30 mph on any vehicle. Although, he drove, and surprisingly well. I turned my head back, just to check, seeing Nathan and Emily were catching up.
"This is bad, what do we do?!" Ruby spoke.
"Hold on, why are we running again? There's.. 6 of us and only two of them. Couldn't we easily outnumber them?" Axelle asked curiously.
"No, but it's extremely bad news if they even know where we are. I wanna stay as far away from them as possible." spoke Ruby.
"Could you guys care to explain? I get it, you saved us. But that never means you are good people. What's the reasoning behind all of this?" Waylen finally snapped, in a slightly irritated tone.
Everyone except Christian who was driving turned to Waylen, then I sighed.
"We aren't the bad guys. We aren't the ones abducting survivors, then experimenting on them, are we?" After I commented that, both Axelle and Waylens' eyes went wide. They kept silent, before talking with a slightly shook voice.
"Wait— what the hell did you say?" Waylen said, in a tone slightly afraid. Axelle on the other hand, stayed silent, eyes still wide.
"...That's insane!" Waylen added, crossing his arms.
"Exactly. it is, and they've caught one of us before, but.. thankfully he's safe. or so, I hope." Nicole stated.. slight worry in his tone.
"..Are they… like.. right in the head? no, right?" Axelle asked.
"Obviously not, there's no way I'd believe that. best bet they're most likely all morons."
Waylen replied to Axelle, and we could definitely all agree with that.
"have we lost them..?" I asked Christian, and he snapped back angrily.
"Check yourself," he said, annoyed. I raised an eyebrow. I didn't even do anything, yet this guy is mad.
"Why are you mad this time? I haven't even done anything.. yet." I replied, and he sighed deeply, I could hear the annoyance.
"no, we haven't lost them. They're still at our tail." Christian spoke with an irritated tone. I scoffed, but didn't say anything more. I sighed, looking back, and sure as hell they were there behind us. I sighed, leaning back in my seat. I could feel Christian speeding up, again.
"Are you sure we should be going this fast, Chris?" Nicole asked, leaning on the back of Christians seat.
"Well, unless you wanna get caught, yes." he replied to Nicole, in exchange to which Nicole gave a deep sigh.
Waylen was still sitting in his seat, shaking his leg vigorously. Meanwhile, Axelle had her arms crossed, and eyes closed, calmly. I guess she didn't really seem to care about this situation. But, really, if you knew what had happened between Nicole and them, the only thing you'd want to do after seeing them is run away.
Ruby seemed to be quite on edge, looking out, and back for Nathan and Emily. Christian still driving, so I didn't bother looking at him. Nicole looked tense, reasonably, still trying to calm himself a bit.
and honestly? I could see the fear on his face. I guess he must have had trauma from all of that stuff before, and I guess it's inevitable, really. I glanced back at Christian, noticing his tense expression. and genuinely.. I haven't seen that expression on his face for a long, long while.
which takes me back to middle school. Why? well for starters, middle school was definitely one hell of a year. But also most importantly, that's when I met Ruby and Nicole. and least importantly, Christian. and not in a good way.. well to be fair? nothing has ever been good between us. from the second we met.
I had unconsciously closed my eyes, and… before I realized it, I was back to when he and I met.
Well, good question. How and when exactly did we meet? Well, isn't that a question for.. not today. …fine. It started during mid term exams, in middle school.
we were.. in the same class. and I hadn't noticed him before, because he was just the smug type of annoying kinda person. I usually just stuck with another friend, Vanessa at the time. not a close friend, but enough to get me through the day. well.. During the week of the exams, I noticed I'm constantly looking over to me… more specifically? my paper. He was copying. I didn't say anything, but each time gave him a glare so he'd look away. After exams, he came up to me asking ME why I didn't let him copy off of MY paper. mind you, he was ASKING. I gave him a scoff, telling him politely to f off if he wasn't going to ask reasonable questions.
"oh? but isn't that a reasonable question? i'm ASKING why you didn't let me copy off your paper." he replied to my comment, leaning forward, with both of his hands in his pockets. I rolled my eyes.
"Oh seriously? you're asking a question, yes.. but not reasonable. you clearly don't get the concept of a real logical question, do you?" I replied to him as I was slightly irritated.
I could see him grit his teeth, but kept his cool. He raised his eyebrow, then finally slammed his fist onto the desk. "Seriously, you should just let me copy off your papers before it becomes a problem, alright?"
I stifled a laugh at that. let him copy?? no way. "pfft.. let you copy, before it becomes a 'problem'? I think the only problem here is that you don't study and need to copy me. It's pathetic." I replied.
he sighed very audibly. That's around the time when the bell rang, and I was packing my things. He stood there silently in irritation at my reply and looked like he was going to snap. but thankfully, one of his friends called out to him and dragged him along to the cafeteria. I let out a sigh, grateful he was gone.
He has been a pain since the moment we met.
