Chapter 93 - CHAPTER 93 (S4)

CHAPTER 93 (S4)

"Don't give me that crap." she hissed, narrowing her eyes. That's about when she heard Waylen call out to her.

"Periwinkle, hurry up!!" she huffed.

"You're all grown.. and have all these friends," Lorrell paused, looking over at her, Ty still watching beside his wife. "I couldn't be more proud."

"Tch.." Perry was torn between leaving and hearing them out. But they had, from what they knew, started the apocalypse purposefully. What rational and sensible thing could they possibly have to say? She turned around, fists clenched so tight her knuckles went white, almost drawing blood from her palms.

Now confirming Lorrell and Ty were her biological parents was kind of disorienting. Why? Because up to present time, she'd never expect a mentally unstable person to have given birth to her. Ty didn't stop it either, so he was no better. Before they could physically stop her, she sprinted over to the van, never looking back for a second. Only adding to the fear she felt in the moment.

"Took ya long enough.." Waylen mumbled, still holding the door open for her. He got in afterwards, as Nicole started driving. He sped through the streets, surprisingly smooth. He avoided any zombies scattered on the ground, making sure the GPS was properly placed on the window. Perry was damn well sweating like she ran a marathon, hair sticking to her face. It was humid in general, right? Christian was beside her, and tossed her an electrical fan. He seemed sweaty himself, but didn't say anything. He just averted his gaze completely, staring a hole through the window instead.

Whatever, best not start anything, right?

The ride back was filled with silence and occasional chatter here and there. Perry was spaced out almost the entire time— the entire time being around 20 minutes. She couldn't wrap her head over all of it. Who even were Lorrell and Ty? Not her parents. She wasn't like them, she wasn't. That's what she had convinced herself over the past few weeks. But she had no proof of that other than the fact she was actually sane. And now.. they were trying to find a cure? As if they could. Even though they'd gotten this far, they weren't scientists that could come up with one. There could be the solution right in front of them, and for all Perry knew, they wouldn't get it. She had too many doubts to voice. So instead she just had to distract herself. At least until they actually could do something.

As fast as they got to the station, they arrived back at the house. The organization had already been waiting for them inside. The group basically fell onto the couches and whatnot, Maverick slamming the Maroon file they thought they had left behind on the table.

"..You took it?" Axelle asked, stupidly, peeking open one eye, and taking a look. She was hunched over the dining table, fan on high above her.

"I don't know what you guys were thinking just dropping it and about to leave." He muttered, sitting next to Ivy. Alice walked over and opened it, reading through the first page. There was a lot of writing.

"...What's in there?" Nicole asked, reaching out, gesturing for it. Alice shrugged nonchalantly, throwing it behind her.

"Dunno. Some stuff about the cure or whatever." She mumbled, walking over to the fridge— then proceeded to grab a tub of ice cream, like that was her biggest problem. An aching sweet tooth. Damian sighed, rubbing his temples.

"Since when does being dyslexic mean you don't give two flying damns about a lethal apocalypse?" He scowled, crossing his arms. Alice shrugged, again. That only made Damian's head hurt further. "Whatever.. maybe I'll feed you to the horde and see how you like that." he muttered under his breath, glowering at her sidelong. She had a spoon in one hand, an ice cream tub in the other.

"So this whole thing is.. their doing? They're scientists or something?" Nicole started, reading through the file. Rexine leaned over his shoulder, Eli over his second shoulder, because he had two. Two shoulders, to clarify.

"Uh, seems so? They looked like they knew what they were doing." Rexine mumbled. "Which makes it worse, if anything."

"Huh.. This couple really seems bonkers.." Eli spoke, more as a statement rather than any kind of observation.

The organization and.. everyone else, they all sat around the coffee table trying to figure it out. The cure, or at least any leads on how to make it, or what they'd need. From the looks of it, they weren't succeeding much. The only people that were actually trying and listening— Perry, Nicole, Christian, Axelle, Darren, Nathan, Damian, Ivy and Millie. Alice and Maverick were sharing their second tub of ice cream now, sitting on the same sofa watching a stupid, sappy movie. Waylen and Dave were bored out of their minds, so they started playing Uno with their own twists and rules. Dave claiming he could stack the same coloured cards no matter the number, Waylen looking at the deck and picking out every 4 plus there was. Emily and Rexine talking over cookies they had made prior, something about dyed hair colours, and which looked best on who. So really, the serious people who were ACTUALLY trying to end this curse of an apocalypse were having a rather hard time. In the files, there wasn't a specific address that the leads were at, but a stupid lot number. So they had to run around like headless chickens before Lorrell and Ty found their address, trying to take the file back. Because, it was obviously a lot more important than they had initially assumed. Of course they'd want to gatekeep any hints leading to solving the cure.

"Guys, we actually got to figure this thing out. Maybe we could search the lot number on google?" Nicole suggested, throwing the file onto the table with a soft thud.

"..No." Darren finally spoke up. "That wouldn't work. It'd give you multiple countries worth of addresses, or none at all." He sighed, standing up and walking over to the dining table.

"We can, however, use an illegal website for it."
