Chapter 9 - Mao

Unlike their Kitsunese counterparts the Maoanese are more reclusive. They generally stay within their country's territory. They are one of the smaller races, standing at 4 1⁄2 to 5 feet. They have small rounder cat ears along with thin cat-like tails. Their hair and fur colors tend to be black, brown and orange. With mostly brown eyes. They have a slender frame and generally weigh between 100 to 145 pounds and will live up to 80 years. The Mao tend to stick more to themselves in their villages.

Like the Kitsunese, the Maoanese highly value their traditions and ornate buildings, but instead of elaborate festivals they will write down their history and share stories to their descendants. Most Maos can weave a grand story from nothing. Their larger cities tend to be prosperous and full of libraries. Even some of the lower class citizens will be wearing silk cloth, though if they are not living in those cities, they tend to live in poverty. The Maoanese territory is a terrible place for farmland and usually can not provide enough food to earn a living, let alone survive on. Due to this the villages rely on fishing and hunting.

Maoanese names stay very traditional and consist of three part names, as example: Zao Mei Zen.
