Chapter 28: The King of Tricksters is Online
"Xiao Wu, what's wrong?"
Tang San keenly noticed that Xiao Wu was not in the right state at the moment and followed her with concern.
Xiao Wu turned her head, her teeth biting her lip tightly, a hint of sadness and reluctance in the depths of her eyes, her face pale. "Third brother, if one day Xiao Wu disappeared, would you still remember me?"
Tang San, who knew Xiao Wu well, felt a sense of foreboding and tightly grasped Xiao Wu's hand. "What are you talking about! Didn't I tell you I would always protect you?"
Xiao Wu broke free from his hand, tears streaming down her cheeks. She whispered, "Third brother, when that time comes, remember, don't worry about me!"
Tang San's eyes flashed with confusion, wondering what had happened to his usually lively and cheerful sister Xiao Wu.
Elsewhere, Li Tianyi caught up with Bone Douluo and Ning Fengzhi.
The three of them paused. Ning Fengzhi glanced at the Shrek group from a distance, wondering, "What's wrong, Xiaotian? Is there something important we should discuss privately?"
"Sect Master!" Bone Douluo interrupted, his withered face wrinkled with a look of intense joy.
Li Tianyi hesitated for a few seconds, then reached behind his back and pulled a slip of paper from his ring.
"Your Majesty, I think my discovery is the same as yours," Li Tianyi interrupted.
"Oh?" Bone Douluo sized him up and said, "How could you possibly know what I've discovered with your level of cultivation?"
"Uncle Gu, Xiaotian, what are you two talking about?"
Li Tianyi quickly replied, "Sect Master, do you remember the condition you promised me during the sect competition?"
Ning Fengzhi smiled, "Of course I remember that. As long as it's within certain limits, I'll fulfill it for you." "Within certain limits?" Li Tianyi said carefully.
"Sect Master, I've discovered a hundred-thousand-year-old soul beast!" Bone Douluo exclaimed, unable to contain his joy.
Ning Fengzhi's body trembled in surprise, and he asked in astonishment, "A hundred-thousand-year-old soul beast?"
Uncle Gu raised an eyebrow and said, "A transformed soul beast can be hidden from others, but not from the eyes of a Titled Douluo."
Ning Fengzhi's eyes were filled with joy, and he hesitated, "Are you saying that one of those children is a transformed soul beast?"
"Yes! That girl with the scorpion-tail braids."
"Uncle Gu, you're referring to Rongrong's friend?"
After his joy, Ning Fengzhi looked back at the calm Li Tianyi and asked, "Xiaotian, is this the discovery you mentioned?"
"Sect Master, you overestimate this kid. He's not a Titled Douluo, how could he possibly tell?"
Ning Fengzhi raised his hand to stop Bone Douluo, sensing that Li Tianyi had something to say.
Li Tianyi lowered his head, flicked his fingers, and unfolded the note. His lips parted slightly, as if he were mumbling something silently.
Finally, with a long sigh of relief, he looked up at Bone Douluo and Ning Fengzhi solemnly.
"Sect Master Ning, His Majesty Bone Douluo, will you both listen to me and not move this hundred-thousand-year soul beast?"
"Do you even know what a hundred-thousand-year soul beast is? Don't move it? How could that be possible?" Bone Douluo rebuked.
Li Tianyi glared and said fluently, "A hundred-thousand-year soul beast will inevitably produce a red soul ring and soul bone. Not only do these soul skills possess far superior abilities, but the soul bone can also, to a certain extent, facilitate breakthroughs."
"Oh?" Ning Fengzhi didn't rush to retort. A puzzled look crossed his face. "Xiaotian, if you know this so clearly, why are you still trying to stop us?"
Li Tianyi looked at Ning Fengzhi calmly and said, "Sect Master, I know very well that with this soul bone, the strength of either Bone Douluo or Elder Chen will be greatly enhanced."
"I also know what a complete hundred-thousand-year soul beast means to the Seven Treasures Glazed Tile Sect."
"Then you..." Bone Douluo began to speak, but Ning Fengzhi stopped him again.
Li Tianyi clenched the note in his hand, deciding to take a big gamble today.
"Master, do you believe in an afterlife?"
"Afterlife?" Ning Fengzhi was bewildered, confused as to why Li Tianyi was bringing this up.
Li Tianyi's expression was solemn, yet sincere, he said, "To be honest, in my previous life, I was actually a 300,000-year-old ape who died while undergoing a tribulation!"
"What?" Ning Fengzhi and Bone Douluo exclaimed in disbelief.
Li Tianyi ignored their expressions and continued his shocking statement, "I spent 300,000 years cultivating in the Star Dou Great Forest.
Ultimately, I couldn't survive the Ninefold Beast Tribulation and was struck dead by lightning. I never imagined that reincarnation was possible after death."
Bone Douluo's mouth dropped open, and Ning Fengzhi's mouth twitched. Even with their experience, it was hard for them to accept this fact.
If it weren't for Li Tianyi's current demeanor and his usual normal behavior, the two would have considered him insane.
Li Tian saw a good opportunity and pulled out the silver tail coiled around his waist. He looked at Bone Douluo and said, "I have a tail, so do you think I'm a transformed soul beast?"
Ning Fengzhi looked at Bone Douluo inquiringly, but he shook his head blankly.
"You're a reincarnated soul beast, so you don't want us to attack your kind?" Ning Fengzhi asked tentatively, his eyes glazed over.
Li Tian shook his head and said, "There's nothing right or wrong in humans killing soul beasts, or soul beasts attacking humans."
"I don't care about anything else, but when I saw this little girl today, I knew she was an old friend of mine, so I wanted to protect her, even at the cost of revealing my identity."
"Uh!" Ning Fengzhi and Bone Douluo were stunned. Discovering a 100,000-year-old soul beast was nothing. Here, a senior disciple suddenly told them he was the reincarnation of a 300,000-year-old ape!
If anyone else had said this, they would have scoffed and told them to get lost. But Li Tianyi's incredible strength and the weight of his unusual tail proved too strong.
Ning Fengzhi couldn't help but believe it. He questioned, "Then can you tell me about your journey to reincarnation?"
Seeing their eager expressions, Li Tianyi's fingers loosened their grip on the slip of paper. He then recounted a lengthy story to Ning Fengzhi and Bone Douluo with a captivating expression.
It began with the soul-collecting messenger from the underworld, followed by an encounter with Yama King, the journey through the Yellow Springs Road, the crossing of the Naihe Bridge, and finally, the draught of Mengpo soup that led to his reincarnation.
Ning Fengzhi was stunned by the story, unable to believe it. Li Tianyi's description was so vivid that he doubted anyone who hadn't witnessed it firsthand could describe it in such detail.
And to test him, he would ask some tricky questions whenever Li Tianyi spoke, such as what King Yama looked like and the specific environment of the underworld.
However, Li Tianyi answered all the questions fluently, and Ning Fengzhi couldn't help but believe it. If he was really a young man, how could he have such knowledge? How could he come up with such a huge story in just a few minutes?
"That little Tian..."
"No, Senior Ape, does the underworld you mentioned really exist?" Ning Fengzhi was still a little skeptical.
Li Tianyi nodded affirmatively.
"Didn't you say you drank Meng Po soup? Then how do you still have memories of your past life?" Bone Douluo looked at Li Tianyi scrutinizingly.
"Ahem, I might have been too big in my lifetime, and a bowl of soup didn't completely erase my memories. In fact, there are still many things I can't remember now," Li Tianyi explained.
Ning Fengzhi, no ordinary person, slowly accepted this fact. With some reluctance, he asked, "So Senior Ape wants us to let this hundred-thousand-year-old soul beast go?"
Li Tianyi waved his hand and said, "Sect Leader Ning, please don't be polite with me. I've been reincarnated as a human. Speaking from the human world, you can just call me Xiaotian."
After a pause, Li Tianyi added, "Even if you let Xiao Wu go, I won't let you lose money. I remember a few hundred-thousand-year-old soul beasts. I can help you organize a team to hunt them!"
"Seriously?" Bone Douluo asked, his eyes gleaming.
"Seriously!"
Li Tianyi glanced at Ning Fengzhi, who was still hesitating, and said, "Sect Leader Ning, I understand your problem is that the Seven Treasures Glazed Pagoda won't advance."
"Do you have a way to resolve this shackle of my martial soul?" Ning Fengzhi asked in surprise.
Li Tianyi put the note away and stood with his hands behind his back, his face stern and unfathomable.
He sighed softly and said leisurely, "If you sincerely help me, I will let you ascend to the ninth floor of the seventh-story pagoda!"
