"Oh man, thank you, man, I don't care what the News says about you, you're cool!"
I smiled and waved at the guy, watching him as he entered a large building for his job interview. A few minutes earlier, he had been running around like a headless chicken, frantically rushing somewhere as he bumped into people and nearly got hit by a car before I stepped in. According to him, he has a job interview in about five minutes, but it's about a kilometre away. So, I grabbed him and dropped him off in front of the building. Once he disappeared from my sight, my smile dropped.
Not because of the guy, he seemed cool. It's just that after my grand debut a couple of days ago, all I've been doing is doing small stuff to help people. Not that I mind, in fact, it was surprisingly pretty fulfilling, the current thing stressing me out...
"Look, it's that vigilante..."
"Don't get too close, Mark, he could be dangerous!"
"Hey, did you get that outfit from the dollar store?!"
"Someone call the police!"
People are pointing at me like I'm some sort of zoo animal, pulling out their phones and recording me. Or trying to get in contact with the police. Despite my good deeds in the past couple of days, the people are divided in their opinion of me. Some look at me as a hero, while a lot find me a vigilante alien monster from outer space to subjugate the human race. It doesn't help the fact that whenever a reporter tries to interview me, I often run away or just laugh nervously.
So, yeah, some people think I'm an alien that is pretending to be a hero only to stab them in the back later. Either way, the West is divided on their opinion of me and the other countries on the other side of the world don't believe I even exist. Canada and America put a bounty on me, like an actual bounty. 50 MILLION DOLLARS for my capture or evidence of my identity beneath my goggles. So yeah, the entire West is gunning for me.
In fact a couple hours ago some muscular dude, along with the rest of his buddies, tackled me when I was trying to give a young boy his balloon back after it had flown away. It failed miserably, of course. But I'd best get away now before someone gets the bright idea to try to shoot me. It may not be America, but Canada has some people with guns. I jumped and flew to the sky, and I stayed in the air just watching for anyone who needed help.
As for Gavin...
"Ha! Got him! Get sniped lil bro!"
I cringed, you know, sometimes I forgot that at the end of the line was an old military veteran. Hearing those words come out of his mouth made my stomach churn like no other.
"If you're going to play your games while I'm on patrol, can you mute yourself?"
"Oh, right!"
Then silence. I huffed, rolling my eyes. Sure, there aren't any big crimes happening in Toronto right now, but would it kill him to put away the keyboard when I'm trying to help out people? I crossed my arms and shut my eyes, allowing my Mind's Eye to scan my surroundings. But everything seems all in order, nothing for Red justice to do. I quickly got bored before pulling out my phone, and I dug it out of my pocket.
Yes, praise the lord, this suit has pockets. After all, people in my generation would lose their minds if they didn't use their phone in 0.5 seconds. I decided to scroll around my device, but even that got boring quickly. Seeing the city all well and safe, I could just go back home or something. While I could zoom to another country's city, Gavin told me to practice in Toronto, which is close by, before I started to bother other countries.
Before I could fly away, my SEE goggles suddenly had an alert message, apparently, there was a robbery just ten kilometres from here. I couldn't wipe the grin forming on my mouth.
"Gavin, it's time..."
"..."
"Gavin?"
"..."
Just like that, my smile dropped, and I narrowed my eyes.
"If you don't answer right now, I'm going to do something that would make any future Red Justice merch-"
"Alright, alright, don't do anything rash!"
Well, that was quick. I didn't even finish what I was about to say. Whatever, now that I've got his attention, I can finally get on with it. Finally, I could use my fist to solve a problem! With that, I flew across the location of the bank being robbed. When I got there, I was surprised to see multiple police cars flipped over; in fact, one of them was stuck to a building.
What happened here? I shook my head and went to one of the officers, taking cover behind a lamp post.
"Excuse me-"
"Gah!" The police officer jumped and pointed their pistol at me, firing multiple times before the gun clicked empty.
He opened his eyes to look at me, giving me a deadpan expression. I raised my hand to his face and dropped the bullets that I had caught in my hand. The bullets clicked on the ground as the officer went pale.
"You know that would've been very bad if it were someone else," I said.
"R-Red Justice! Hands up and surrender!" He demands.
I sighed. Well, that was pointless. I sped away from the frightened officer and entered the building. Thankfully, it seems nobody is inside the building except for a couple of knocked-out civilians. I quickly grabbed whoever was left inside and sped out, and placed the unconscious people near a hospital. After repeating this a few times, everyone is evacuated, including all injured cops on the scene. Maybe they'll think twice before trying to shoot in the face. I returned to the building using my Mind's Eye.
In the lower floor, there seemed to be only people running across the hall to enter the vault. I was about to rush towards the criminal, but Gavin stopped me.
"Wait for a second, if it's just one person, we might be dealing with a supernatural threat."
"Really?" I said, in shock.
"The way police cars are flipped like that, the fact their confident enough not to use any hostages, and only one person is robbing this place. This person must have powers like you."
Gavin clicks his tongue. "We haven't even dealt with normal robbers, but you have to deal with a super one now?"
"Can't be helped. Any advice?"
"Be careful and end this fight fast, we have no clue the enemy's abilities just yet!" I nodded before speeding to catch the criminal.
It didn't take long for me to zoom past them, crossing my arms and giving them a grin. Before my grin falters slightly. The criminal was wearing a green raincoat and black gloves. They were also wearing a ski mask, only showing their blue eyes. Whoever this is, they seemed familiar.
Okay, time to handle this jerk, but first, say something witty.
"C-come here, often?"
The robber blinked, their face scrunched up underneath the mask in confusion. Drat! I stuttered.
"Wow, is that the best you got?" Gavin asked.
I wanted to tell him to shut up, but that would lead to even more confusion, and I'd look crazy talking to myself. So I ignored Gavin, clearing my throat and returning to my lips to a cocky smirk.
"Okay, pal, you might as well give up."
My words suddenly snapped them out of their confusion. Their familiar blue orbs radiating with anger. No, anger was too much of a tame word to use; it was rage and utter hatred towards me. I could feel their loathing like some kind of aura, I was honestly surprised by how much anger their showing.
"You..." They hissed.
"Me?"
Suddenly, her blue eyes begin to glow. Wait a second, I've seen this before. Those bright blue eyes...Emily?
"Kid, look out!"
Before I had the chance to react, my body unwillingly shot up and hit the ceiling, hard. Causing large cracks and pieces of debris to drop. I wasn't too hurt, in fact my brain was too busy recalibrating, by the fact that this person is most definitely Emily Shinichi. Those bright blue eyes, that height and even her voice confirmed her identity. I snapped out of my shock stupor to dodge a barrage of fallen debris aimed at me, I floated in the air looking at her with my jaw dropped. Blue eyes glared at me with such ferocity, I didn't realize I was floating backwards a little.
"What are you doing!? You've got to fight back!"
I gulped. Fight her? Yes, I knew very well that as soon as I went out in the field, I would most likely fight her one day. I didn't expect it would be this soon! She looks ready to fight, but I, on the other hand, didn't.
