"It's so dark after feeling a hellish pain in my body, but now I feel so light.
It feels like I can float, feel comfortable.
I finally realized what happened — I lost consciousness in the middle of a road.
I open my eyes and saw an unfamiliar looking room. It looks so luxurious. I don't know where I am.
As I get up from the bed, I feel like my body becomes lighter. It feels like if I jump, I can reach 10 ft.
It's not exaggerated; I've never felt better in my whole life.
But first, I need to know where I am.
As I walk toward the door, it suddenly opens, and I saw a maid with red hair with two horns on her head.
I don't know what's going on.
I can already tell that the real thing I did realize is that I'm looking at her with an amazed expression, and she's looking at me with a blush.
Maybe she's just shy.
"Hello, may I know where I am? I'm Cale, and the last thing I remember is losing consciousness in the middle of the road," I said, scratching the back of my head.
The maid just looks at me for a whole 10 seconds, not responding.
"Hello?" I asked again.
"Oh, s-sorry, I just lost in my thoughts," the maid said, her face turning red.
"Let me explain to you; you're in Count Romero's mansion in a city named Meroll. It's under Romero's rule.
While Young Lady Camille was on the carriage on her way to the estate, the coachman saw you in the middle of the road.
Young Lady helped you get into the carriage and brought you here to be treated," the maid said.
"Is that so? I'm feeling better now. How can I express my sincere gratitude to Lady Camille?"
"Oh, I'll inform Young Lady first. Please stay in this room first. If you need anything, you can just tell me.
After I come back, I'll take my leave then."
Turning around, I saw not only she has horns, but she also has a red tail. As she leaves, her elegance is still noticeable.
While waiting, I try to read a book on the small bookshelf side of the room. After reading and waiting for 10 minutes, a knock on the door.
Knock, knock.
"Can I come in?" a beautiful voice said from the other side of the door.
"You may come in. It's not like I own this room," I said.
Opening the door, I saw a beautiful girl with golden blonde silky hair and green gem eyes.
As she enters, she looks at me with a smile.
"Hello, I'm Camille. The maid informed me that you've awakened and because I'm the one who brought you here, you're my responsibility," she said with a smile.
"Oh, thank you very much, Lady Camille, for saving me. If it weren't for you, I don't know what would have happened to me," I said, bowing.
"No need to be thankful; I just did what I thought was right. But can I ask you a question? By just looking at your attire, I can tell that you're not an ordinary guy. Who are you?" she asked.
What excuse should I say? Remembering my bag full of foods and equipment, I can pretend to be a traveling merchant. That's the most believable excuse I can think of.
"My name is Cale, a traveling merchant," I said.
"Oh, that's why you have a strange-looking bag with you. Good timing; we really need a merchant right now. Can I ask for your assistance? You don't need to reply for now. I'm not in a rush. If you're still not feeling well, you can rest first."
"No need; I'm feeling much better. So what do you need my help for, Lady Camille?"
"Right now, a lot of people are sick for an unknown reason. Do you have anything that can help us, Mr. Cale?" Camille asked with a worried expression.
"Can you tell me what the symptoms are? I want to know so I know what medicine I can give them."
"You have medicine, Mr. Cale? Thank goodness."
I don't have medicine right now, but I have stock in my house storage. Most of the important medicine is there. I'm a convenience store owner after all.
But I have to summon the door before I can get them, and I don't know if it's going to work. I need to try it.
If I'm alone for now, let's confirm what symptoms the sick people have.
"Yes, I have a lot of different kinds, but I want to know first what kind of disease is causing people to get sick. Please tell me," I said.
After saying that, I saw a relieved expression on Camille's face.
After that, she started explaining about the sick people's symptoms.
"Um, so you're saying that they have abdomen pain, loss of appetite, vomiting, and other things… LBM or diarrhea comes to my mind first.
LBM or diarrhea — loose, watery, and possibly more frequent bowel movements — is a common problem.
Sometimes, it's the only symptom. At other times, it may be associated with other symptoms, such as nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, or weight loss.
Luckily, diarrhea is usually short-lived, lasting no more than a few days, but if the symptom never goes away, then one of the causes may be not enough clean water.
You need to boil the water to kill some of the bacteria."
After that, I started to explain other methods to prevent people from getting sick.
I'm not a doctor, but this is just basic knowledge.
"Thank you so much, Mr. Cale. I'm really thankful for your help," Camille said, bowing.
"No need to be thankful; you helped me first. But first, I need to get the medicine. Can you leave the room for a minute, Lady Camille? I need to look inside my bag for the medicine that I'm going to give you," I said, making excuses.
"Sure. Once again, thank you, Mr. Cale. I'll take my leave then. I'm just in the room on the left side next to this room. So if you finish doing the things you need to do, you can just call me directly," she said with a bow and exited the door, closing it.
Sigh Being a merchant is the best excuse I can think of. I need to take that responsibility now.
Now that I think about it, I can truly become a merchant here. I can sell the things from my store.
But first, I need to know what their currency is.
For now, I need to try summoning the door. My grandpa said I should just hold the ring and think about the door.
I stand up and start to imagine the door standing in front of me.
Opening my eyes, I saw the golden door standing in front of me. That's so easy.
Walking closer, I enter the door and saw a familiar room; it's grandpa's room.
Processing the things that happened to me, I can't help but be amazed. I really didn't expect that these things were going to happen in my normal, boring life.
But now I'm starting to get excited for this unknown new world.
I should take the medicine first. I grabbed the bag I had seen nearby and hurried toward my stock of medicine.
After filling it with medicine, I made my way to my grandpa's room and entered the golden door.
Stepping through the door, I found myself back in the previous room.
Glancing around, I spotted the bag I had brought with me the first time I came to this world.
Bringing the two bags with me, I walked out of the room and into a large, luxurious hallway filled with expensive paintings and vases.
As I walked forward, I approached the room on the left side and knocked on it.
Knock, knock.
"Lady Camille, it's me, Cale," I called out.
"Oh, Mr. Cale, are you ready?" Camille opened the door and said.
"Yes, please. This is the bag with the medicine. Please, feed the patients first before giving them medicine," I said, gesturing for her to take the bag.
Camille took the bag.
"Roderick!" she called, and an old man wearing a butler's uniform appeared beside her.
"You called, young lady," the butler said, bowing.
"Yes, this guy over here is Merchant Cale. He's the one I brought while on my way. He said he's a merchant and he's here to help us with the sick civilians. He gave us this bag full of medicine," Camille explained.
"I may be rude to ask, but, my lady, can we really trust this young man?" the butler asked.
"I still don't know yet, but I can feel that we can trust him," Camille said.
"But, young lady, that's not enough reason to trust others. I know I'm being rude here, my apologies, but if the health of civilians worsens, the reputation of Count Romero is on the line. Not just that, the citizens' wellbeing as well," the butler said worriedly.
"It's okay, Camille. It's understandable. If you can, I can take the medicine first. After that, you can give it to the people," I said, taking the bag and swallowing the bitter tablet dissolved in my mouth.
My face darkened; I should have taken it with water.
"Sorry about that; the medicine is bitter. Please, if you give it to the patients, drink it with water and boil the water first," I said.
"Is that enough proof for you, Roderick?"
"Yes, my lady. I'll distribute it to the people," the butler said, bowing before leaving with the bag on his side.
"Sorry about that, Mr. Cale. Sir Roderick is not a bad person; he's just thinking of Romero and people's wellbeing," Camille said worriedly.
"It's fine, Lady Camille. It's a natural reaction to the people you just met. Oh, I have something to give you; it's a gift for saving me," I said, taking a chocolate bar from inside my bag and handing it to her.
"What is this?" Camille asked, confused, holding the chocolate in her hands.
"Oh, it's chocolate. It's a sweet dessert where I came from. If you want, I'll show you how to eat it," I said, taking another one, opening it, and taking a bite.
Camille copied me, and after taking a bite, her eyes widened with excitement.
"Oh, my God! What is this? How can I, a daughter of a powerful noble, not know this kind of food exists?" Camille said, while devouring the chocolate.
"It's called Mr. Beast Chocolate; it's one of the most delicious brands," I said, but it felt like she wasn't listening to me because her focus was on her chocolate.
A couple of minutes later, she finally finished the chocolate. She looked at me with shining eyes.
"Do you still have one? I'll buy everything you have!" she said excitedly.
"Yes, I still have it, but I only have three. If you want, I'll just give you two for free, and one is mine, okay?" I said.
"Sure," she said, extending her hand, gesturing for me to put the chocolate in her hand.
With a sigh, I gave her the chocolate.
