Great yokai serve as teachers at the school. Student yokai learn various magics to develop their innate powers. By mastering one of the four elements—Water, Fire, Earth, or Air—a yokai earns the rank of a 2nd-class wizard. However, mastering just one element usually takes more than ten years.
Furthermore, great yokai hold the 10th-class rank in a single element, granting them tremendous power. Since a great yokai's abilities flow only through their bloodline, no ordinary yokai can become a great yokai no matter how hard they try.
