Chapter 6 - Chapter 6: Making a Move

Five days later.

At this moment, Uchiha Yato was walking through the streets of the Hidden Leaf.

The reason was simple—he had been kicked out of the mission reception office.

For the past five days, Uchiha Yato had been frantically taking on C-rank and D-rank missions.

What was disgusting were the people handling mission assignments and reception.

A Jonin—a Hidden Leaf Jonin, a proud Uchiha and Hidden Leaf Jonin—competing with a bunch of Genin for missions.

At first, the mission receptionist had tactfully suggested, "Lord Yato, your abilities are outstanding. There's an A-rank mission and a few B-rank missions here—would you like to take a look?"Uchiha Yato said with a choked voice, "I believe my abilities are still lacking. Taking on simpler missions for more training would be more beneficial for me."

"I got slightly injured during a previous A-rank mission, so I'd like to rest and recover first."

As he spoke, he put on the expression of someone heartbroken—half-dead yet clinging to life.

At first, the mission assignment ninja felt rather awkward, worried they might have touched upon a sensitive topic.

What if Yato had some unspeakable difficulties preventing him from taking high-rank missions and had to rely on low-rank ones to make ends meet?

Just thinking about it made the mission assignment ninja wake up in the middle of the night to slap themselves, muttering:

"I'm such a damn disgrace!"

"I'm such a damn disgrace!"

For the next few days, the mission assignment ninja made sure to assign only the simplest tasks to Uchiha Yato.

And Uchiha Yato was more than happy—he loved these effortless, easy missions.

But after three days, the mission assignment ninja gradually realized something was off.

First, Yato never gave his full name—only "Yato."

Previously drowned in guilt, the mission assignment ninja hadn't noticed, but now it clicked.

Hidden Leaf's number one troublemaker—Uchiha Yato.

Second, this guy claimed he was recovering from injuries, yet he was completing 20 C-rank and 30 D-rank missions a day.

You call this a wounded man?!

By the fourth day, Uchiha Yato only received two measly D and C-rank missions.

And by the fifth day, the mission assignment ninja outright told him there were none left.

Left with no choice, Yato had to leave without taking any missions.

His main reasons for taking missions here were:

First, ninjas are human—they need to eat.

Uchiha Yato still needed money, and no one ever complained about having too much. These low-rank missions were basically free cash with no time wasted.

Second, while taking these low-rank missions, Yato encountered key figures from the Hokage's circle—

Kushina Uzumaki and Minato Namikaze, among others. He even ran into the Uchiha Clan's Mikoto—Sasuke's future mother.

Holy hell, that was a goldmine of emotional reactions!

Uchiha Yato immediately transformed into a "mischief-maker."

He would deliberately strike up conversations in front of Kushina and Minato, the lovey-dovey couple, without actually having anything important to discuss.

Kushina's fiery temper would flare up instantly, but since Yato couldn't beat her, he just had to endure the frustration.

Meanwhile, he always found some bizarre excuse to "coincidentally" escort Mikoto home.

Along the way, Yato would intentionally steer the conversation toward topics about Fugaku Uchiha, chatting casually with her.

Poor Mikoto, barely in her teens, would blush furiously, too embarrassed to tell Yato to shut up.

Truth be told, Yato had long noticed these two pairs.

Whether from scenes he'd seen in the Naruto anime or now experiencing them firsthand in this world, whenever he spotted these sweet little couples, he felt it'd be a waste of his transmigration if he didn't tease them a little. However, the good news is that in just five short days, Uchiha Yato successfully collected a full 1,000 points of emotional value!

Just as Uchiha Yato was tallying up his recent gains, he witnessed a brawl breaking out at the street corner.

Two men in casual yukata were fighting.

They went from inside the izakaya to outside, throwing punches without holding back in the slightest.

At that moment, members of the Uchiha Military Police Force arrived to intervene and asked what had caused the fight.

Listening to the two men's explanations from the sidelines, Uchiha Yato's lips curled slightly.

"Danzo, is this your move?"

"No wonder you could never become Hokage—this is child's play."

The incident began when these two were drinking at the izakaya. For some reason, they suddenly became agitated. When their verbal exchange failed to settle things, they resorted to fists.

If that were all there was to it, then Shimura Danzo would simply be an idiot.

The key was that these two men weren't ordinary individuals.

The man in the white yukata with floral patterns was named Sarutobi Tsuruya.

Just from his name, one could tell his background—a member of the current Hokage's clan. By all accounts, some face had to be given to him.

The other man wore a black yukata with minimal adornments, exuding an air of noble elegance. What stood out were his completely pure white eyes.

His name was Hyuga Hiroa, from the Hyuga Clan—one of the Hidden Leaf's two great Eye Technique clans.

Both had influential backgrounds, and neither was willing to back down. Both were equally at fault.

If no favoritism was shown, according to Hidden Leaf regulations, both should be taken to the Military Police Force for "tea," after which their respective clan heads would retrieve them and sign a written pledge.

This method had actually been proposed by Uchiha Yato himself. As a member of the Uchiha Clan, he naturally wanted the Uchiha to thrive, and the idea had even been approved by the then-living Second Hokage.

Favoring the Sarutobi would strain relations between the two great Eye Technique clans. Though the incident involved only two individuals, it would still create some friction.

Favoring the Hyuga would deepen the Hokage faction's resentment toward the Uchiha Clan. Already, since taking charge of the Military Police Force, the Uchiha had found themselves in an awkward position.

This left the unfortunate Uchiha officer in a dilemma.

In a shadowy corner, Aburame Ryoma, who had been secretly observing everything, frowned deeply, a mix of frustration and anger welling up inside him.

He had meticulously planned this for a long time. He had made sure Uchiha Yato wouldn't receive any low-level missions today and had gone to great lengths to find two individuals with significant backgrounds and powerful clan connections, carefully provoking a conflict between them.

In his original plan, as a member of the Uchiha Clan, Uchiha Yato would have no choice but to step in as part of the Military Police Force to handle the dispute.

Yet, to his utter surprise, at this critical moment, a patrolling officer happened to appear, completely disrupting the situation.

Watching his carefully crafted dilemma being ruined by this unexpected interference, how could Aburame Ryoma not feel furious? He gnashed his teeth, glaring at the Military Police Force members who had ruined his plans, silently cursing this sudden turn of events.

At the same time, he hoped Uchiha Yato would also get involved in this predicament. As long as Yato joined, his scheme wouldn't be wasted.

This Military Police officer turned out to be their old acquaintance—Uchiha Ren.

After brief consideration, Uchiha Ren made his decision: take both individuals back to the Military Police Force headquarters and let the captain handle them.

Hearing they were being taken to the Military Police, the two grew visibly nervous.

Though only two or three years had passed, under the influence of Hidden Leaf's F4, public perception of the Military Police had deteriorated significantly.

For ninja clans, it was somewhat bearable, but for civilians or clan members without ninja aptitude, the place might as well be the underworld incarnate.

Those with weak mental fortitude trembled at the mere mention of the Sharingan.

While this seemed a reasonable decision, it risked earning the resentment of both the Hyuga and Sarutobi clans toward the Uchiha.

Watching this unfold, Uchiha Yato could no longer remain seated and stepped forward.

"Ren, is that you?"

"What's all this about?"

Yato's sudden appearance sent waves of panic through all three present.

Uchiha Ren knew full well how dangerous Yato could be, making him particularly alarmed.

The other two had been sternly warned by their elders never to associate with any Uchiha—especially not Uchiha Yato.

The man was practically a walking calamity; storms followed wherever he went.

Yato's next words slightly eased Ren's expression, while the other two looked ready to cry.

Clearly, Yato's formidable reputation among ninja clans had spread far and wide.

"Ren, I'll take over from here."

"If there are issues to resolve, leave them to me. No need for them to question your competence."
