Chapter 2 - [Polar Night Wilderness Survival] Survival Tools

Looking at the rows of Survival Tools, Wang Yu breathed a sigh of relief.

Just as he was about to check the Survival Tools, he suddenly seemed to sense something.

Wang Yu looked at his right hand, but it was too dark to see anything.

However, Wang Yu did feel that the item had also entered the game with him.

That's great.

If that item could also be used in the game, then this Survival Game would be much simpler for him.

Clutching his somewhat excited right hand, Wang Yu looked at the images of the Survival Tools displayed on the light screen.

[fire starter] [Spear] [Hammock] [small hacksaw] [Fishing Rod]

[Glow Stick] [Camping Pot] [Axe] [Sleeping Bag] [Compass]

[tin bucket] [Hammer] [Military Knife] [animal trap] [Water Bottle]

[Fishing Net] [torch] [military shovel] [Crossbow] [Tarp]

[lantern] [Flashlight] [Tent] [Climbing Rope] [First Aid Kit]

...

Wang Yu clicked on the images of the Survival Tools to view their detailed information.

Wang Yu then learned about some characteristics of these Survival Tools.

For example, the [Fishing Rod] came with a pack of bait, the [Hammer] was equipped with a chisel, and the [Crossbow] came with three arrows.

There were three [animal trap]s in total, the [Climbing Rope] was 9 meters long, and other Survival Tools also had their dimensions and accompanying items noted.

Looking at so many Survival Tools, he could only choose 5 items.

Wang Yu knew he had to make a choice quickly; he opened the content of the [[Game Task]] and reread it before starting to choose.

For the first Survival Tool, Wang Yu chose the [fire starter].

[fire starter (100/100)]

[Equipped with a scraper, can be used 100 times.]

There was no hesitation here; this Survival Tool was a must-have, as among all the Survival Tools, only the [fire starter] was an ignition tool.

In wilderness survival, a fire-starting tool is essential.

Wang Yu had some understanding of the fire starter.

The fire starter is made of magnesium alloy; its body does not burn when exposed to fire, it is not afraid of moisture, can be used hundreds of times, and even if it falls into water, it can still be used after drying.

By vertically scraping the surface of the fire starter with a scraper, the falling shavings will rapidly self-ignite in the air, reaching temperatures as high as 3000℃, capable of producing sparks in humid, windy, and various extreme pressure environments.

Therefore, the fire starter is absolutely a divine tool for making fire in the wilderness.

After confirming the selection of the [fire starter], Wang Yu chose the second Survival Tool; he chose the [lantern].

In the pitch-black wilderness, Wang Yu had to choose a lighting tool.

He had several lighting tools to choose from: [Glow Stick], [torch], [lantern], and [Flashlight]; all these tools could provide illumination.

Furthermore, all these tools provided illumination for three hours.

The [Glow Stick] and [torch] came in sets of three, with each lasting one hour.

The kerosene in the [lantern] and the battery power of the [Flashlight] could only last for three hours.

So, in terms of usage time, choosing any of these lighting tools was the same.

He could only choose one lighting tool based on their pros and cons.

Wang Yu directly ruled out the [Glow Stick].

This item could not be switched on or off; once used, it would stay lit until it extinguished after one hour.

Wang Yu did not want something that he could not control the lighting time of.

The [Flashlight] and [torch] both had their advantages.

The [Flashlight] was very convenient to use, could be turned on and off at will, and could illuminate wherever desired.

The advantage of the [torch] was that holding it in the wilderness could deter wild beasts, and if he no longer wanted to use it, he could extinguish it with dirt.

However, Wang Yu still chose the [lantern].

He considered it from a sustainable perspective.

The [Flashlight] and [torch] would be gone after use; the [torch] would burn out, and the [Flashlight] could not be recharged in the wilderness.

The [lantern] was different; as long as fuel could be found, the [lantern] could be used continuously, and it could also be used in harsh outdoor environments like wind and rain.

After considering, Wang Yu chose the [lantern] as his second Survival Tool.

For the third Survival Tool, Wang Yu chose the [animal trap].

After securing light and fire sources, Wang Yu had to consider the issue of survival in the wilderness; what to eat in the desolate wilderness, he needed hunting tools.

Among the available hunting tools, [Fishing Rod], [animal trap], [Fishing Net], and [Crossbow] could all be used for hunting.

Wang Yu directly chose the [animal trap]; its effectiveness in the wilderness was hard to say, largely depending on luck, but he had no other better options.

Fishing with a [Fishing Rod] and [Fishing Net] were both skilled tasks that Wang Yu had no experience with, so he might not know how to use them, and he might not be able to find a river or Lake for fishing in the wilderness; he could not risk choosing these two items.

Of course, the best hunting tool was the [Crossbow].

If it were normal wilderness survival, Wang Yu would definitely choose the [Crossbow], but he was in Polar Night Wilderness Survival, and Polar Night meant not being able to see anything, including prey, rendering the [Crossbow] useless for hunting.

For the third Survival Tool, Wang Yu chose the [animal trap].

For the fourth Survival Tool, Wang Yu chose a [military shovel].

Many practical tools are needed outdoors; the [military shovel] has many uses in the wilderness—it can cut trees, dig soil, and even serve as a weapon for self-defense, so Wang Yu chose a multi-purpose tool like the [military shovel].

Of course, tools like the [Axe], [small hacksaw], [Hammer], and [Military Knife] were all good, and any could be chosen, each having its advantages, but after comprehensive consideration, Wang Yu still chose a military shovel.

For the fifth Survival Tool, Wang Yu considered for a long time.

He should choose something for spending the night, such as a [Hammock], [Sleeping Bag], or [Tent].

Or choose tools for building a Shelter; a [Tarp] was the best item for building a Shelter.

After considering, Wang Yu finally chose the [tin bucket].

His choice was based on the item in his right hand; with that item, building a Shelter should not be too difficult for him.

So, for the fifth Survival Tool, he did not need to consider tools needed for overnight stays and Shelter construction, allowing him to choose another tool.

Wang Yu decided to choose the [tin bucket]; he felt that there were many places in the wilderness where a tin bucket could be useful.

Besides the items Wang Yu chose, other good items like the [First Aid Kit], [Camping Pot], [Compass], and [Water Bottle] had to be given up by Wang Yu.

After selecting five items, Wang Yu clicked confirm.

At this moment, Wang Yu's eyes lit up, and he saw five items on the ground: a [lantern], [fire starter], [animal trap], [military shovel], and [tin bucket].
