Chapter 117 - Chap 117 : Moving toward the gate

The bell was no longer rung after several times, and the night became calm again.

There was no noise outside, which meant the bell was just ringing for no reason.

There was nothing for us to be afraid of, maybe the bell was rung by some pranksters who just wanted to fool around.

Well then, I better sleep, my eyes already feel heavy.

——

For the umpteenth time, I woke up because my body kept being touched. And of course, the culprit must be either Hime or Yuu-chan.

See? It's Yuu-chan after all.

I got up from my lying position, and started to notice that Hime wasn't in the room.

Right now, only Yuu-chan and I were still in this room.

"Yuu-chan, why is it only the two of us here?" I asked.

Usually, Hime would never leave the room unless she was with Yuu-chan.

"Hime… she said she had business with Lyra-san, so she had to leave early in the morning to go to the guild." Yuu-chan answered.

Well, I wasn't too curious about what they wanted to talk about. Oh right, I needed to ask her about that.

"Yuu-chan, did you feel any danger approaching last night?" I asked.

If she did feel something, then that meant the ringing bell last night wasn't just some prank.

"No, not really… why?" Yuu-chan asked back.

"Last night, the bell in the middle of the city rang several times… before it finally stopped. Was it just some prank?" I asked.

Both of them were already asleep at that time, so they shouldn't have heard the sound of the bell.

"Really? Like you said, it's probably just pranksters." Yuu-chan answered while walking toward the door.

I needed breakfast, but I also needed to make my body feel more refreshed.

Yuu-chan said she would go first and follow Hime to the guild. Later I just had to be told to go there too.

I could only agree to her words, because I didn't want to rush there.

——

Ah… this is nice, my body feels refreshed and my stomach also feels full.

This is the kind of morning I always want in my everyday life.

I left the room, not forgetting to lock the window and the door. To avoid people with intentions to steal.

It wasn't rare, cases where unlocked doors or windows caused belongings to disappear.

The inn's receptionist had also warned us to always stay cautious.

——

I was shocked, and felt something strange, when I arrived in front of the guild.

There were so many adventurers with various ranks. Most of them were parties.

And only a small portion of them were solo adventurers.

I felt like nothing special was happening today, so why were they all taking missions at the same time? That's impossible.

I needed to find the two of them first, they surely knew what was actually happening right now.

If it was already this crowded outside, then the inside would be even more packed.

People were squeezing together, but no one complained about feeling hot or being unable to move.

Instead, they seemed even more able to chat with the person next to them.

I tried to pass through the crowd, and luckily there were still some empty spaces I could slip through.

I went to the receptionist desk, because most likely the two of them were there.

Especially since Yuu-chan had said that Hime went early to meet Lyra-san.

Ah, there she is—wait… why is it only Lyra-san? Where are the two of them?

"Lyra-san, did you see Char and Yuu-chan come here?" I asked.

"Ah, the two of them…"

Lyra-san said that Hime and Yuu-chan were called by the guildmaster into his room.

Immediately, I asked where his room was and hurried after them.

Being called by someone like the Guildmaster… what kind of problem is it now?

——

I arrived in front of the door, took a slow breath, then opened it right away.

As expected, inside were Hime and Yuu-chan, along with a big man sitting in front of them.

They all looked at me, surprised by the door suddenly being pushed open.

"What is an intruder doing here?!" the guildmaster shouted.

"P-please calm down, Van-san, he's our friend…" Hime said.

The guildmaster relaxed again, and sat more comfortably.

Yuu-chan also gave me a signal to stand behind their chairs.

Honestly… I felt so embarrassed earlier. Could time rewind so I could knock first?

"So, you already understand the situation?" the guildmaster asked.

"Of course, in short you're asking for our full assistance, right?" Hime asked.

"Correct. Some of the strong parties in this city currently have tasks outside the city, so only a few beginner parties remain, and your party is the one I can rely on the most." he said.

Party? Outside the city? Wait a second, does that mean we're about to face enemies?

And who exactly are these enemies? I've never heard of any group wanting to destroy the largest kingdom in the Velmoria continent.

"Please, give it your best!" The guildmaster slightly bowed to us, before Hime told him to lift his head.

——

The three of us left the guildmaster's room, and I immediately asked what was happening right now.

"What is this all about? The situation is getting messy." I said.

"This morning, some people handled by the guildmaster came to get me and told me to come to the guild as fast as possible." Hime said.

"When I arrived, the situation was already this crowded, then Lyra-san said that I was being called by the guildmaster." she continued.

"So, because many parties are not in the city right now, only our party can be relied on?" I asked.

Hime nodded, meaning my words were correct.

"What exactly is happening? Rampaging monsters?" I asked again.

There must be some kind of enemy that all adventurers had to defeat, for everyone to be gathered like this.

"The guards on duty at the gate said that last night they saw a group of monsters shaped like demons outside the city." Hime said.

"That's why the big bell rang last night, but was soon stopped when those monsters disappeared."

"And this morning, the monsters were seen walking toward the city gate at a very slow pace."

"But the most worrying thing is that their numbers might reach the thousands." she continued.

"Thousands?!" I said, unable to believe such an absurd number.

"That's why the adventurers who are still in the city are ordered to go to the gate and defeat all of those monsters." Hime said again.

Well, I didn't know what those monsters wanted from attacking this city… oh, right—Necvalion is the largest royal city on the continent.

So it makes sense they want to invade Necvalion.

I didn't know whether I could actually help them, but at least I could stand beside them.
