Chapter 8 - Recognition

Dr. Martinez remained on his knees before Marcus, his weathered hands trembling with reverence and awe. The elderly physician's eyes shone with the fervor of a man who had witnessed something beyond mortal comprehension.

"Master, please accept me as your humble student," Dr. Martinez pleaded, his voice cracking with emotion. "I have practiced medicine for forty years, but what you just performed transcends everything I thought possible in the healing arts."

Valentina stared at the respected doctor in confusion. "Dr. Martinez, what are you doing? Get up! Papa still hasn't woken up yet."

"Miss Romano, you don't understand," Martinez said without taking his eyes off Marcus. "This young master has just performed the legendary 'Soul Resurrection Needle' technique—a method so rare and powerful that ancient texts claim it was gifted directly by the gods to bring people back from the very gates of death."

"The Soul Resurrection what?" Valentina's voice dripped with skepticism.

"It's a technique that requires perfect mastery of eighty-one celestial acupuncture points," Martinez explained, his voice filled with wonder. "The energy expenditure alone should have killed a normal person. Only someone blessed with divine power could survive channeling that much healing energy."

Even learned mortals recognize divine techniques when they witness them, Marcus thought, pleased by the doctor's understanding.

As if summoned by their conversation, Alessandro's eyes fluttered open. His breathing was deep and steady, color had returned to his face, and he looked more vibrant than he had in decades.

"Papa!" Valentina rushed toward her father, relief flooding her features.

"Wait," Marcus commanded, his voice carrying supernatural authority that froze Valentina mid-step. "Don't disturb him yet."

With a casual wave of his hand, Marcus channeled divine energy through his fingertips. All eighty-one silver needles rose from Alessandro's body simultaneously, floating through the air like obedient servants before settling gently into Dr. Martinez's leather pouch.

Valentina gasped, her eyes wide with terror and amazement. "How... how did you do that? The needles moved by themselves!"

"Impossible," Dr. Martinez whispered, staring at the floating needles. "Telekinetic control over metal objects... this is beyond human capability."

Now they begin to understand, Marcus thought with divine satisfaction. Mortals need dramatic displays to recognize true power.

"I feel..." Alessandro sat up slowly, marveling at his own body. "I feel better than I have in twenty years. The constant pain is completely gone. How is this possible?"

"Your father was dying," Marcus explained calmly. "The Soul Resurrection Needle brought him back from death's doorway."

Alessandro's eyes filled with tears of gratitude. "Mr. Kane, you've saved my life twice now. The Romano family owes you a debt that can never be repaid."

"Your gratitude is sufficient," Marcus replied with godly humility. "I simply did what was necessary."

"But Papa," Valentina interrupted, her scientific mind struggling to accept what she'd witnessed, "how could someone so young master such advanced techniques? It doesn't make sense."

Dr. Martinez looked at her with pity. "Miss Romano, some individuals are blessed with gifts that transcend normal human limitations. This young master is clearly one such extraordinary person."

Marcus studied Alessandro with his divine sight, perceiving the threads of mortal fate that still surrounded the businessman. "However, I must warn you, Mr. Romano. This treatment was only temporary. Without proper ongoing care, you will die within three months."

The color drained from Alessandro's face. "Three months? But I feel completely healed!"

"The Soul Resurrection Needle restored your immediate health, but the underlying condition remains. Your body requires specific treatments that conventional medicine cannot provide."

"Please," Alessandro fell to his knees beside Dr. Martinez. "I'll give you everything I own—my companies, my properties, my entire fortune. Just save my life."

"I don't need your money," Marcus said with divine composure. "But I do require certain rare herbs for your treatment. Additionally, I need specific items to help my mother regain her sight."

"Anything!" Alessandro exclaimed. "Name it!"

"Valentina, take notes," Alessandro commanded his daughter, who hurriedly pulled out her phone.

"For your treatment, I need Dragon's Blood resin, thousand-year ginseng root, and Phoenix tears mushroom," Marcus began. "These herbs must be harvested under specific lunar conditions and preserved using ancient methods."

"Consider it done," Alessandro said immediately. "What else?"

"For my mother's condition, I require two extremely rare artifacts," Marcus continued, his expression growing serious. "First, a spiritually infused calligraphy brush that has been blessed by ancient masters and used to write sacred texts."

"A blessed calligraphy brush," Valentina repeated, typing rapidly. "Got it."

"Second, a cinnabar prayer bead carved from thousand-year-old sacred wood and sanctified through decades of divine rituals."

Dr. Martinez's eyes widened. "Master, such artifacts are legendary. They're mentioned in ancient texts as tools used by immortal sages."

They exist, Marcus thought, but finding them will test even the Romano family's resources.

"Mr. Romano," Marcus said carefully, "I must warn you that these items are extremely rare. They may not even exist in the mortal world anymore. Only gods and enlightened masters would recognize their true value."

"I don't care if they're hidden in the depths of hell itself," Alessandro declared fiercely. "I'll find them. The Romano Empire has connections across every continent. If these artifacts exist, we'll locate them."

"Papa's right," Valentina added, her earlier skepticism replaced by determination. "Our family has spent generations collecting rare antiquities. If anyone can find mystical artifacts, it's us."

Dr. Martinez bowed again. "Master, please allow me to assist in this search. My medical contacts include collectors of ancient healing instruments. Perhaps they can help locate these divine tools."

"Very well," Marcus nodded approvingly. "But understand—the brush and prayer bead are not mere antiques. They contain actual spiritual power. Many collectors possess fakes without realizing it."

"How will we know if they're genuine?" Alessandro asked.

Marcus smiled with the confidence of a deity. "Bring them to me. Divine artifacts respond to those who understand their true nature."

The God of War recognizes sacred relics, he thought. Just as Elder Chen's ring recognized me.

"We'll start immediately," Alessandro promised, strength returning to his voice. "Every resource of the Romano Empire is at your disposal, Master Kane."

"Then we have an agreement," Marcus said, rising from his kneeling position. "Find these items, and I will ensure both your life and my mother's sight are restored."
