"It's a good idea but before we can implement it we need to test something. I'll send you some system coins. If my idea works then you should be able to use them to contact me rather than wait for me to contact you." I said before mentally sending fifty of the coins from my inventory to him.
He looked at the shiny rainbow coins in interest when they arrived and with a nod I closed the contact to wait. If this didn't work I might lose out on a hundred coins but would learn a very valuable piece of information that would offset the price.-
Honestly I wanted to slap myself for not thinking of this sooner as it would make things so much easier. Naturally any good merchant had a list of clients and providers that could contact them if they had a pressing need for something so it would make sense that giving enough coins to my contacts would let them contact me of their own initiative, in theory at least. Nothing happened for several minutes however causing me to almost give up hope before the world greyed out and a screen appeared in front of me with Whitebeard on it.-
I breathed a sigh of relief "What took so long?" I asked curiously.
"Had trouble figuring out how to get it to work. Need to use your full name to do it, annoying." he said honestly.
"Ah right that ones on me. Should have explained that before hanging up. Now I'll send over a thousand coins which will let you contact me at will twenty times. I think every three days is a decent time frame for our trades. Remember to keep an eye on the World government once we start because they will definitely try and find out how you are doing it. See you then." I said before ending the call once I sent over the coins.
It was a good chunk of my current total amount of coins but it was going to be paid off and more in time. I had no intention of doing the same with Rockwell though as while the dinosaurs and maybe even plants were valuable their value was not even slightly comparable to devil fruits and the one piece physique. Also Rockwell was for the most part just a normal human with no special powers or anything else that would allow him to create profit so easily like Whitebeard.-
An unfair comparison I know but that was just the way things are. With that matter done I relaxed and began working on my observation haki again. I was fairly certain that Madam Pomphrey figured out that I was the source of the uncomfortable sensation of being watched from all angles after she returned to the wing and walked right into my outstretched haki. Still she swatted my haki back with that pesky spell of hers that gave me a headache.-
She also didn't say anything about my haki when she came to change my bandages and have me down that foul liquid again. What she did say was that she was surprised at how quickly the injuries were recovering. Already the cracks in my skin were starting to seal on my hands and whatever was going on with my eye also apparently showed signs of repair but my sight in that eye didn't grow any better than a faint glow when exposed to light. A pity but I already resigned myself to seeking a replacement should such an opportunity present itself. -
In theory I could go the route of Moody who has an alchemically created false eye with a few nifty features but even in the books the guy was described as having a freaky look due to that eye so I think I'll pass. Shortly after I woke up again from my no doubt potion induced slumber I got my first Professor visit with my quiz. Naturally it was my own head of house himself, Flitwick. It was amusing how he paused midstep into my haki before continuing like he hadn't noticed it at all.-
"Good afternoon Alex, I hope your recovery is going well. Today I want to go over the basics of spell work with you. Please try your best." the small man said cheerfully.
I chose to ignore that and recite the entire years textbook verbatim while giving the Gobstruck professor an amused smirk. When I was about a quarter through the textbook he stopped me.
"I must admit when you said you mastered the theoretical aspects of this years textbooks we were doubtful but I am truly convinced now. It'd astounding really. In all my years I've never once seen a student with the entire years course already fully memorized before they even begin." he said with a disappointed sigh.
"You sound like you are flattering me but yet look disappointed. Why?" I asked genuinely confused.
"Ah I apologize. It's just a shame that this happened to you is all. I would have loved nothing more than to discover your prodigious mind in the classroom in a more natural way. Instead here we are, you relegated to that bed before classes even started and thus forced to reveal it all at once. I can't help but be slightly bitter about the lost excitement this would normally have given me." he said honestly.
"Well if it helps at all I didn't exactly plan to be here either. Right bloody annoying to be frank." I said with a shrug.
"I can imagine. Still I think I'll award ten points to Ravenclaw for your fluent recital of the textbook. Exceptional students deserve rewards after all. I must admit however you've put me in a bit of a pickle. You see I was going to slowly quiz you as I would normally teach the course but clearly in your case that is unnecessary. I also can't test your practical's given the condition your hands are in. I am at a loss how to proceed." He said with a bothered expression.
"Why not pick out a book for me to read at the first year level but not covered in the textbook and quiz me on that instead? I read and memorize quickly so I'll need a new book every week assuming the other professors do the same but that will work no?" I suggested both for his benefit and my own.
