"Such a shame, to see such a pretty girl wasted and at such a young age."
One of the guards rolled up the whip he had just finished using on Snow as another walked into the chambers. They didn't believe she would do such, but who had the balls to go against alpha Randall? No one.
The punisher quickly handed the whip to his fellow wolf brother, he felt horrible but it was better to feel horrible than be killed by the alpha. They were not too far away from her chamber, Snow was shackled with chains heavier than her weight, her pale skin was cut open from the lashes she received, her eyes were swollen and closing, she was slowly succumbing but she could still hear conversations. And she was listening to what the men were talking about.
"But she said it was someone else. And if it were truly someone else, how did they get in?" their voices were fading.
"I don't know, but the alpha has made up his mind. Tomorrow is the last day, if she insists she didn't do it, she will be set ablaze in front of everyone."
Her breath hitched so hard and tears were forced out of her eyes. In reaction, she shut them too hard, causing herself pain. Anytime she closed her eyes, all she saw was Lyana's lifeless body and the person that killed her. The cloak, the axe, the scar on his arm, the way he meant to kill her too.
More tears were forced out of her eyes with blood shooting out of her nose, "my Luna, I am sorry i couldnt save you…" those were her last words before her vision began to play tricks on her. Light reflecting and dimming in her eyes, she was slowly slipping into unconsciousness. She could only imagine how scared Lyana must have been to be so gruesomely killed.
"Snow… Snow…" she noticed the softness of the voice, no one had a voice as soft as her Luna. She let out a weak gasp, fighting to keep the light in her eyes, raising her gaze ever so slowly, she could see her Luna approach her with mournful eyes, "run Snow…run…this is not your home any more…"
"Run to… where?" if she was seeing Lyana, it meant death was upon her. She nodded slightly, if she were to die this way, it would be better than being set ablaze in front of everyone.
She looked around her, her wounded and dirty body barely clothed, coated with her own blood.
"Run Snow…run…" the words came out as a soft song and soon Lyana retreated into the darkness, no matter how many times she blinked, her Luna walked away from her until she vanished. As she vanished, she let out another short breath, her vision only half as good.
Hasty feet made their way to her view and a guard was in front of her with a tray of what looked like food, "I was instructed to give you this…your last meal…" he opened the large rusted metal door that kept her away from freedom and undid her chains. Moving back a bit just to watch her stare at it, the food looked miserable, unfitting for a last meal for someone who used to be mildly important, "eat it or it will be taken away."
Her eyes met his for a moment before she dug her patterned hand into the food and brought it to her mouth in a fistful. Her eyes never left his.
"Hey come here! I need your help with something!" another omega called him and without a second glance, he left her to enjoy whatever the food was. And just like that, she heard Lyana telling her again, to run.
Swallowing whatever she could to get the strength she needed, seeing the metal door slightly open in front of her, no chains bound her. With the strength of a broken heart, she rose to her shaky feet, almost falling over, implanting her weak hands into the wall for support. Snow was so weak, she couldn't lift her feet, she had to drag them. And she did. Until she passed the metal door.
She inhaled a sharp breath, unable to stand straight, hunched and moving, "run…run…" a soft song continued to play in her subconscious. She didn't know where to go, but her feet were moving, no one had noticed she had escaped yet and she did her best to evade any of the omegas from seeing her.
Just as one neared, her heart froze, instinctively she pressed herself into a corner and a shocking breath was knocked out of her as she flipped onto the ground. But on the other side. And when the omega passed, there was no one pressed to the corner.
"Wha-" she trailed off, a secret passage? She dragged herself to her feet and continued to move. It was pitch black, not a single essence of light but she used her sense of smell to guide her. She could smell…moss. And wherever the scent was stronger, she followed.
Snow had only walked for a few minutes when she heard an uproar in the place she was once held hostage. They were looking for her. The fear of them catching her prompted her to move faster, almost tripping on what could have been stone or a dead body, she didn't know but she moved, tears making her eyes close for a hot minute to let them flow.
What felt like forever, she finally emerged on the other side of the passage and it opened into a dense vegetation, overflowing with moss. On the other side, was the packhouse she grew up in.
She looked back once and took off as fast as she could. Where was she going? She did not know.
As she wandered in the vegetation, she heard footsteps, had they found her? Before she could turn to go to the other side she was surrounded by rough looking men, from their scents, they were omegas but not from her pack.
"Mercy! Mercy!" broken words from a broken heart as she raised her feeble hands in the air, she begged them not to kill her, she knew she had trespassed but maybe it was the sorrow in her eyes that made them listen to her for a moment longer, "Luna…mercy! Luna! Mercy!"
The wolves looked at each other for a moment and then back at her. With a simple nod, they surrounded her and moved.
Three years had passed since Snow escaped into the Redclaw pack and the day she was brought to the Luna, she was given mercy and taken in as a servant to help maintain the packhouse, to which she did with the whole of her heart. As she spent time in the pack, she realized that it was the only pack she had seen with one alpha and three Lunas. And they all happened to be the mates of the alpha!
Although to say anything about it would be to want your mouth sealed shut with a padlock. She didn't move with the other workers, whenever she was done with her part of work, she would spend time in the garden, growing beautiful flowers that many had not seen before.
But whenever she did work, there was a little girl who always troubled her, fascinated by her, she had never seen a girl with white hair before. She always felt the irresistible urge to touch it, wondering if it would melt like a Snowflake.
Liora was the alpha's adopted daughter, he had taken her after her parents had died in battle and he loved the girl very much. And Liora loved Snow the most. But today, she was nowhere to be seen.
Which was unusual.
Listening to her instincts, she left the floor she was scrubbing and went looking for the little naughty princess. But by the time she had searched the most familiar places and she was still nowhere to be seen, she began to ask. People began to notice.
Snow quickly went to the garden, Liora would always admire the flowers she grew, but alas, she was not there either. Her feet carried her further, suddenly halting, she bent to see the girl's blue ribbon that was used to hold her hair in place. Fear gripped her again when she saw another ribbon not far in front of her. And it led to the outskirts of the packhouse.
Then a scream echoed throughout the air.
Without a second thought, Snow ran, and as she got closer to the sound of distress, the vegetation became wilder. A horrible sight befell her eyes as she saw a wild wolf about to pounce on the child and devour her, the foot of the young girl under a broken branch.
"Daddy! Help!" profusely crying, she didn't want to get eaten.
Against all better judgement, Snow put herself between the wild wolf and the girl, earning a very big gash from her left shoulder all the way down to her torso. The force of the hit knocked her aside, but it was enough to distract the wolf and turn its attention to her.
"Ms. Snow!" The child's scream prompted her to open her eyes and the next thing she felt was a searing pain as the wolf sank its teeth into her thigh, so deep she felt it in her bone. The wild wolf believed it was better to eat an adult than a child, more meat, so he proceeded to drag her away.
Snow in abject pain, losing blood from her wounds, looked for anything that might help and reached for a discarded piece of rusted metal and hit the wolf on the head with it. It only angered it more and forced it to bite her hand out of retaliation.
Snow was getting weaker from the jabs of pain and the loss of blood. But to her saving, she saw omegas of the Redclaw swing into action and attack the wolf, forcing it off her, the branch was pulled off of Liora and Snow was picked, her body gone limp and her eyes closing. The omega that carried her, wished she was still breathing by the time she got to the healer.
But the only thing Snow saw as her vision was fading was Lyana. She still dreamt of her even after all the years had passed. Tears spilled from her crystal blue eyes.
Everyone hoped she would survive. She wanted to die.
