Chapter 27 - Chapter 27: Unohana's Favorability

Chapter 27: Unohana's Favorability

Retsu Unohana, originally named Yachiru Unohana, was the Soul Society's greatest villain a thousand years ago, before being defeated by the Captain-Commander and brought under his command.

She is the founder of the Eleventh Division and its philosophy, and the first Shinigami to hold the title of "Kenpachi."

The meaning of the title "Kenpachi" is the strongest swordsman among the Shinigami!

Yachiru, on the other hand, means mastering all sword styles in the world.

Standing with Captain Unohana, Shin-kun could only feel her gentleness, grace, and magnanimity; as for the so-called "black-bellied" nature, he hadn't perceived it yet.

Shin-kun didn't think Retsu Unohana was someone who had forgotten her true self. Her Koten mastery was extremely high, but Shin-kun didn't quite believe that she was interested in him because her Zanpakuto was a Healing Arts System type.

After seeing the favorability given by the system, he completely disbelieved it even more.

After becoming the Student Council President, Shin-kun also had the authority to view his relevant files, and the record of his swordsmanship achievements stated "Exceptional Talent"!

Perhaps what Retsu Unohana said earlier was merely out of her duty as a Captain.

There were many people gathered around the platform, and upon seeing Renji win, they couldn't help but cheer.

Many of the surrounding Shinigami even applauded.

Abarai Renji let out a long breath, then proactively stepped forward to help the senior student up, politely asking, "Are you alright?"

However, he felt a bit smug inside.

Although his Kido was a bit weaker, he was still very strong in other aspects!

The senior student didn't say much. He didn't even take the consolation gift and turned to leave directly, ignoring the shouts reminding him that he had forgotten his gift.

Losing to a first-year junior was too embarrassing to spread around; he shouldn't have gone on stage just now!

At this moment, the students from First-Year Class A also urged the gathered crowd, "Is anyone else coming up? There's a mysterious grand prize waiting for the fated one!"

The crowd gathered below exchanged glances. The defeat of that senior student dispelled the thoughts of many of them.

And although the Shinigami stationed there were confident of victory, it was impossible for them to lower themselves to bully a student.

"What grand prize?"

A voice suddenly rang out, instantly drawing everyone's attention.

Since Unohana appeared here, she had long attracted the attention of countless people, and the one who spoke and asked was Shin-kun, whom the students also knew.

The Student Council President, though a student, was already considered "high-ranking" within the Spiritual Arts Academy.

The student who had just spoken on stage looked at Retsu Unohana beside Shin-kun, swallowed, and said, "This, it can only be revealed if someone wins."

Shin-kun stepped forward and lightly leaped onto the platform.

"May I give it a try?"

Abarai Renji had a deep impression of Shin-kun. Although the two hadn't formally met, he often heard about him from Rukia. Whenever Rukia talked about Student Council matters, besides Hinamori, it was always this President.

Things like, "The President is a very good person," "I want to aim to be like the President," and so on...

Renji initially didn't feel anything towards this Student Council President, but as Rukia always praised him in front of Renji, it made Renji involuntarily feel some hostility towards him.

Perhaps Renji himself hadn't even noticed this hostility.

At this moment, seeing Shin-kun, his heart couldn't help but stir.

Defeat him!

The opponent was a famous genius within the Spiritual Arts Academy, and so many people were watching, even a Captain was observing the match!

Although he had just gone through a spar, he couldn't help but feel his blood boil at this moment.

Abarai Renji threw the wooden sword in his hand towards Shin-kun.

"Of course, you can."

"Do you want to rest a bit?" Shin-kun kindly reminded him.

"No need!"

Abarai Renji walked directly to the other side of the platform, holding the sword with both hands and striking a stance.

"Please enlighten me!"

Shin-kun weighed the wooden sword in his hand, then unhurriedly looked at Abarai Renji opposite him.

Renji held his breath and concentrated, fully prepared. He looked at Shin-kun, who was composed on the opposite side, and didn't feel any pressure; it was as if Shin-kun was full of openings.

He suddenly let out a low shout, holding the sword with both hands and fiercely attacking Shin-kun.

He had heard many times about the strength of this Student Council President, but he had to experience it himself to truly know.

Renji's wooden sword thrust directly at Shin-kun's chest. Shin-kun raised his sword at a speed Renji could clearly see, seemingly to block. Renji, however, was agile, suddenly changing his move from a thrust to a horizontal slash, swinging a semicircle in front of him.

"Clang!"

A crisp striking sound rang out on the platform. Renji suddenly felt a sharp pain in the back of his sword-holding hand. The wooden sword flew out of his grasp, and when he regained his senses, his throat was firmly pressed by the wooden sword in Shin-kun's hand, unable to move.

Renji's pupils widened slightly. He saw it, he completely saw Shin-kun's sword strike, and even every movement of how he disarmed his wooden sword, he saw it clearly and distinctly.

But he just couldn't react, only feeling terror when recalling it at this moment.

Just one move!

He was defeated so cleanly and decisively.

Shin-kun slowly withdrew his sword, then a smile suddenly appeared on his face: "Thank you for the match."

Only then did the surprised exclamations around the platform belatedly ring out. They had been watching the battle closely throughout and had also clearly seen Shin-kun's movements; his sword strike wasn't fast, but it struck a vital point in just one blow.

"So, so fast..." Kotetsu Yune didn't expect the match to be decided so quickly. She thought Shin-kun could win, but she didn't expect Renji, who was so impressive on stage just now, to lose so decisively.

Retsu Unohana's beautiful eyes shifted, and the corners of her mouth curved into a faint smile.

"Shin-kun is truly amazing," Kotetsu Yune exclaimed.

"He is far more formidable than you think," Retsu Unohana said, a rare comment from her.

"Eh?"

Retsu Unohana unhurriedly explained, "He is stronger than that red-haired student in all aspects, but he didn't take advantage of his physical prowess; he purely won with swordsmanship. That single move..."

It was a distillation of his own swordsmanship!

This child, so young...

After returning the wooden sword, Shin-kun was about to turn and step off the platform.

"Please wait a moment." Renji suddenly spoke, his expression a little agitated: "Can we do it again!"

He wasn't a sore loser; after all, the opponent was his senior and a well-known genius student, so losing to Shin-kun was not embarrassing.

That sword strike just now directly hit his weakness, which made Renji realize his shortcomings in swordsmanship more clearly than ever before. Therefore, he wanted to spar with Shin-kun again.

He could sense that sparring with Shin-kun would definitely be beneficial for his own improvement!

Shin-kun chuckled softly, "If you didn't discover anything just now, doing it again a few more times would be the same."

At this moment, the students from First-Year Class A also came forward: "Congratulations on your victory, Senior! We have prepared..."

"No need. You should save your gifts for the next fated person."

Renji looked at Shin-kun's back, secretly making a decision in his heart.

Next year! He must join the Student Council next year!

Shin-kun stepped off the platform, ignoring the gazes of those around him, and came close to Unohana.

"Captain Unohana, I won."

"Not bad. Then let's continue walking."

Although Retsu Unohana still had a smile on her face, her reaction was somewhat subdued, with only a brief "Not bad" as a compliment.
