His caution didn't upset Jessica; instead, it made the strong woman feel even more love for him.
"A warrior in battle thinks only of how to split the bastards' heads open." This was what Auriel often said when teaching Jessica.
As the Ancestor of the Barbarians with the most brutal combat history, every word from the War God Auriel carried weight. Because he focused solely on the battle itself, Auriel became the Barbarian War God.
"Luke! If you need a break, go inside! I'll remind you during that time! You can take the corpses of these monsters with you so you don't forget them!"
Jessica shouted loudly, then executed a Leap Attack, landing in front of Luke.
She crushed a Silence's massive head under her foot; the sound was dull, like a wet fart.
"Roar!"
Luke grabbed Jessica and pulled her behind him, activating Ignore Pain.
Although his war cry was hoarse, it was still filled with wild spirit!
"I am a warrior!"
Jessica bypassed Luke's protection, charging forward and smashing into several Silence monsters!
"You are my wife!"
Luke charged with her, his blade severing several necks.
"Then let's kill together, until we die together!"
Jessica shouted with a smile. Even Penwood and the others inside the room could feel the cloying sweetness of the moment.
It felt like someone had squeezed a lemon in their eyes.
Ignorant of the situation outside, they could only gauge the intensity of the battle from the noise. Previously, Luke's roars had sounded exhausted, but now, he was full of vitality again!
The battle continued. During the chaos, Jessica was struck by lightning released by The Silence. Her charred skin cracked open, and blood flowed to the ground, streaming toward Penwood's direction.
"Jessie!"
Luke shouted their nickname for each other. He threw his sturdy body in the way, blocking a chain of lightning from The Silence.
His body was breached as well, wounds pouring blood.
The blood of the two mixed together, flowing toward the control room. It was as if it were being drawn by something.
The control room was beneath Elizabeth Tower (Big Ben), one of the city's most famous landmarks.
But it was also one of the most beautiful spots!
Luke and Jessica's blood circled around Penwood, who was sitting in his chair clutching the detonator, and traced out a pentagram!
"The Bird of Hermes is my name, eating my wings to make me tame."
The crimson blood outlined beautiful, flowery cursive script—it was unmistakably Bernadotte's flamboyant handwriting!
A coffin, which had not rotted despite the passage of eons, slowly broke through the floor, lifting Penwood up.
In his panic, Penwood carefully set the detonator aside, only to be thrown onto the cold floor along with the coffin lid as it was blown open.
A blonde woman wearing a Hellsing uniform sat up, her eyes a deep, glowing crimson!
"Mr. Penwood? Is this the Battle of London? Looks like we're back, Captain!"
Seras Victoria!
A vampire's life is not so easily taken by a mere hundred years!
She had returned to the present through her long, immortal life!
"My dear, I'm glad the first thing you did upon waking was call me, but I'd prefer if you called me 'Husband'."
Bernadotte's frivolous voice drifted out from behind Seras.
But his hair was fully white. Though his face was still handsome, the marks of time were branded upon him. His life had ended long ago; having lost his virginity, he had no chance of becoming a vampire.
But the two of them had achieved longevity together.
Bernadotte was the first life Seras had drained, and to this day, the only one.
Bernadotte, who was on the verge of dying from old age when she drank him, became another life within Seras. He did not revert to his youthful appearance.
But that didn't matter.
What mattered was that love made them eternal!
"Then let's fight. I imagine you can't wait to see Integra. You spent years wondering if she'd change that icy expression when she saw us again."
Bernadotte returned inside Seras's body, though his voice still resonated.
"Then let's go, darling!"
Seras's voice was cheerful, completely ignoring the onlookers who were dumbfounded by their sudden resurrection.
"How are you here? Weren't you sent to another place by Integra?"
Penwood stammered, appearing exceptionally cowardly due to the sudden events.
"Mr. Penwood, I'll explain slowly after the battle. Right now, fighting is more important. Our comrades are still struggling!"
Seras finally stood up, stepping out of the ornate coffin.
Her once-white stockings had turned blood-red. It seemed the place the Weeping Angels had sent them to wasn't peaceful either.
"Darling! If you smoke inside me one more time, I'm going to beat you up," Seras said casually, though her face wore an expression of bliss.
It was only now that everyone saw Seras's left arm was composed entirely of blood.
This policewoman, who originally had no opinion and looked more human than vampire, finally looked like a warrior.
A zig-zagging streak of bloody light flashed, and Seras appeared in front of Luke and Jessica, using a shield formed of blood to block the lightning released by The Silence.
"Seras, watch those monsters and do not look away!"
Bernadotte sensed the special power of The Silence the moment combat began and immediately warned Seras.
The relationship between him and Seras was completely different from how Alucard handled his River of Death.
Alucard dominated everything with his own will, whereas Bernadotte and Seras were true equals.
Bernadotte could help Seras think and analyze the battlefield, seeing things she might miss.
This was the combat style they had developed during those "past" years, surviving one death match after another.
The Weeping Angels fed on the time energy created when they sent victims back. In their past existence, they had never encountered a being like a vampire, whose lifespan had practically no end. Thus, they mishandled Seras.
Although Seras and Bernadotte couldn't initially escape the house guarded by the Weeping Angels, the Angels' physical attacks were a joke to a vampire.
Fight, flee, be discovered, fight again!
Then fight the beekeepers hypnotized by MODOK. This continued until all the mercenaries died in battle.
Through this repetition, Seras had become a mature warrior!
The understanding and affection between the two grew during those years until the moment Bernadotte nearly died of old age.
"Then, darling, call out your brothers. Their consciousnesses are with you. We need their help."
Seras swung a longsword made of blood, slashing apart the bodies of several Silence monsters.
As she spoke, the dense blood behind her began to take human shapes.
Seras's River of Death. All the distinct consciousnesses within were managed by Bernadotte.
Seras didn't need to change; Bernadotte bore the burden of all these minds.
This was a River of Death unique to Seras; even Alucard couldn't do this.
Furthermore, Alucard was gone. Now, only Dracula existed!
"Fighting again? When does it end?"
The first mercenary to solidify complained loudly, then immediately pulled out a gun and started spraying bullets at The Silence.
"We fight until we all die for Seras. That's your Sister-in-Law! Anyone have a different opinion?"
Bernadotte stood lazily at the very front, smoking a cigarette.
The souls of an elite mercenary squad were far more powerful on the battlefield than the civilians in Alucard's river. And since they retained their consciousness, they could form a complete tactical formation.
"It's always like this! You block our consciousness at the key moments! We don't want a captain like you!"
Another mercenary shouted, only to be punched back by Bernadotte.
"Is the process something you lot are qualified to know about?" Bernadotte retorted grumpily.
Meanwhile, Luke and Jessica, finally freed from the fight, felt a bit strange.
Usually, they were the ones displaying public affection. This time, they were getting a taste of their own medicine. The feeling was... actually kind of magical.
