Chapter 180 - Foes

After reading the information, Barry fell into a brief silence.

His worldview, formed over several decades, instinctively made him believe the information was false.

Yet, his rationality told him that the Universal Union would not deceive him on such grave matters.

"These are the Universal Union's primary enemies?"

Barry intended to obtain more information.

"One of the temporary enemies," Alex said indifferently.

"Star Gods that feed on stellar energy, undying and indestructible physical cosmic deities; Great Devourers that have been dormant for sixty million years, consuming all biomass in their path as they wander from the edge of the universe; Space Droids that can turn a healthy star into a supernova explosion within a thousand years—these are all the Alliance's enemies."

Barry was momentarily speechless, overwhelmed by the sheer volume of information he had just received.

After a while, he slowly opened his mouth.

"As a member of the ICA and the Universal Union, we will naturally do our best to help other members of the Alliance."

If it had been in the past, the more than twenty directors of the ICA would have debated this matter for some time.

But now, Barry, who held significant power, could make the decision alone.

Alex nodded and sent a new Psychic Contract to Barry.

"These are the details of this 'war mission'."

Barry quickly scanned the terms of the Psychic Contract and signed his name without much hesitation.

The remaining six directors followed suit.

From now on, all fleets and troops under the ICA would be dispatched by the Universal Union until the war against the Greenskins ended.

In return, the ICA would receive a large amount of contribution points from the Universal Union, just a little short of achieving the immortality the directors had always dreamed of.

On the bridge of the Ishimura, Marcus was looking at the ICA warships outside the porthole, which were undergoing emergency assembly.

"Honestly, these warships can only serve as disposable fixed fire platforms."

Beside Marcus, Chief Engineer Jacob commented on the design philosophy of the ICA warships.

"Humans in this world have never encountered malicious high-tech civilizations, so their warship design philosophy is very conservative. The only thing worth praising is the antimatter hybrid engine."

"As long as there are enough of them, it's fine."

Marcus shook his head.

"Moreover, the antimatter bombs inside these warships can be considered a great weapon, capable of causing considerable damage to the Greenskins' fleet."

Just as the two were discussing the combat effectiveness of the ICA warships, a signal from Alex appeared on the screen in front of Marcus.

"Ownership of all ICA warships has been transferred to you, totaling 32 vessels."

"Hmm, how's the conventional troop assembly coming along?"

Alex did not immediately answer Marcus's question but stated directly,

"With all due respect, ICA soldiers have never fought a war of this level. Deploying them to the surface of Avarax would only cause chaos in the chain of command."

"It's better to have them than not. I'll have Alexia incorporate all of them into the reserve forces," Marcus said casually.

"Moreover, without the baptism of war, these people will never grow into true veterans."

Since his superior had said so, Alex no longer dwelled on it and submitted a report on all military forces provided by the ICA to Marcus.

Leaving infantry units aside for now.

The ICA was actually not weak in conventional weaponry, especially in exoskeleton armor and aerial forces.

As military equipment, the exoskeleton armor used by the ICA was far more advanced than that used by mining companies like RDA.

At the very least, it wouldn't be pierced by a Na'vi arrow through the glass.

The large-caliber cannons and flamethrowers they used were excellent weapons against Ork infantry.

As for aerial forces, the ICA's regular troops were equipped with a large number of Kestrel gunships to serve as air-to-ground support units.

They also possessed many large aerial gunships that were bigger, had stronger firepower, carried more ammunition, and had better protective performance than RDA's Dragon Assault Ships.

In short, in terms of weapon performance alone, this equipment was sufficient to deal with the Ork forces currently on Avarax.

"Have all ships prepare. I will begin large-scale shuttling in thirty minutes."

Since the ownership of the ICA warships had been transferred to Marcus, he could now use his ability to take them all to other worlds.

"Yes!"

In fact, the ICA directors were also very curious: how could their ships, which did not have faster-than-light engines, reach a distant, unknown battlefield?

Into the Unknown

However, compared to the complacent ICA directors, the soldiers on the ICA warships were much more nervous.

"I heard that this time we're really going to fight aliens, and not the un-civilized natives we've encountered before!"

Although these soldiers had undergone emergency training during the half-month since the ICA joined the Universal Union.

But when it came time for actual war, it was inevitable to feel nervous and even scared.

No one wanted to die in a strange corner of the universe, torn to shreds by an unknown enemy.

"Emergency notification: All crew members, hold on to nearby fixtures. Shuttling will begin in thirty minutes."

Thirty minutes was neither long nor short, but it was enough time for the ICA's fleet and troops to fully assemble.

Finally, to everyone's eager anticipation.

A dazzling white light instantly enveloped all ships in Mars orbit.

When the white light disappeared a few seconds later, the once massive fleet also vanished.

"Spatial technology?"

The ICA board, who had been observing all this, was in an uproar.

All of this clearly exceeded their scientific understanding.

What kind of technology could make so many ships without faster-than-light engines disappear simultaneously?

"I hope some of them come back," Executive Chairman Barry sighed.

After reading the information about the Greenskins, he no longer held much hope for the survival rate of these fleets and troops.

"Star Gods, Great Devourers—" Barry recalled the three names Alex had previously revealed, strengthening his resolve to cling tightly to the Universal Union.

The soldiers on the ICA warships felt only a flash of white light before their senses returned.

Everyone eagerly looked out the windows.

What appeared before them was no longer the familiar Mars, but the yellowish Hive City world, Avarax.

More importantly, behind the warships, an intense space battle they had never witnessed before was still ongoing.

Red alarms blared inside the various ICA warships, signaling the urgency of the current situation.

All soldiers returned to their posts.

Even if fear had already crept into their hearts, rationality still told them that only by holding their ground would they have a greater chance of surviving this war.
