I shut the door behind me and stand there so she can't run away.
'You young lady are going to explain yourself'
she dosent say anything so I step forward and lower my voice 'why did you run off?
She looks down so I carry on
'why did you run off yesterday?' no answer.
'Fine, when you ran into me did you not think to apologise? Do you know how rude that was?
I catch a mumbled 'sorry'
'sorry is not good enough now! You disobeyed me yesterday and yet again today! You're going on report!
Her face goes pale 'wh wh what..?'
'You heard me' I retort.
I point to the chair by my desk, she understands and takes a seat. I can't help but watch her hips.
I walk over, sit in my chair, grab the report card then face her, her face is still pale and her green eyes look a bit dull but I carry on. She needs to be punished for her insolence.
'you will work right here for the rest of the day, I will allow you to step out for break and lunch but if you are not back here on time you'll be here again tomorrow, do you understand?'
She scrunches her face and pouts but nods. I get her to carry on with the work she was doing from her last class.
My class comes in 30 minutes later, I teach ven diagrams to this year group this week. I keep an eye on Abby while I stroll up and down the classroom. She will not be leaving until I say so. Her hairs draped over her face while she writes in her workbook, I can see she works hard so it's confusing to see her outbursts of defiance. After quizzing the class the bell rings for break.
'Abby, break, remember be back on time' she nods, grabs her bag and scurries out my room. I watch her leave.
A few minutes later Mr smith comes in with a coffee in his hand.
'how's Abby doing' he asks.
I stare at him for a moment before speaking
'I've put her on report'
'I see' he murmurs, looking skeptical.
'She's working in here today unless she's late back then I'll extend her time' I explain.
'what! Why?' He questions, my jaw ticks at this. He has no right questioning my decisions.
'she ran off two days in a row, she disobeyed instructions, you may tolerate that but I certainly don't'
He nods, then leaves.
I grab my wallet from my office then head for the lunch hall. 'Mr Sinclair' Mr halt calls. 'Hmm' I murmur. 'Thankyou for accepting the job on such short notice' he says with a broad smile on his face shaking my hand.
