Then he followed the guy all the way to the apartment building, keeping a quiet distance behind him as the man walked toward the entrance. Luke watched carefully, noticing every move as the guy took out his keys, unlocked the door, and stepped inside.
Without wasting a second, Luke broke into a quick sprint. The door was already starting to close behind the man, so Luke stretched out his foot just in time and caught it, stopping the door from shutting all the way.
Without even thinking twice, he pushed through the doorway and stepped inside.
The guy spun around immediately, clearly confused and surprised by this sudden and unexpected visitor in his home.
Taking advantage of the moment, Luke quickly grabbed the man's right arm and twisted it firmly behind his back.
"Don't shout. I'm doing this for your own good," Luke said in a calm but firm voice, trying hard to stay in control of the situation.
The man's face twisted into a strange expression — a mix of disbelief, irritation, and a little bit of sarcasm.
"You broke into my home, twisted my arm, and now you're telling me it's for my safety? Yeah, right. I believe that bullshit," he snapped back, clearly not trusting Luke's explanation.
Luke smirked slightly, realizing this was going to be a difficult conversation—one that wasn't likely to go smoothly anytime soon. But he decided to stay calm. After all, this was for his own survival, so patience was key.
The reason he had followed this guy was simple: from what Luke remembered in the movie, this guy had some kind of special blood. Yes, special blood. That was exactly why Luke tracked him down.
This blood wasn't just any blood—it was considered a rare and valuable object in this world. Luke's plan was straightforward. He wasn't looking for a fight or to take more than necessary—just enough to extract about 500 milliliters, maybe. It might sound like a lot, but it wouldn't kill Michael.
Luke needed it to offer as a sacrifice to the god in his app to level up.
"Name?" Luke asked, trying to keep his voice steady.
"Michael Corvin," Michael replied, eyeing Luke suspiciously.
"Listen, Michael," Luke said carefully, "I want to talk to you peacefully, really. But you're in danger. Maybe not right now, but soon. That's why I had to come to you like this." He wasn't sure if the plot had already started or was just looming ahead, but it would be better if he could prepare before things got worse.
"You're the only trouble I have," Michael said quietly, voice low but tense.
"No, no," Luke said quickly, "You've got a bigger problem than me. I can't even compare to the guys who'll be after you." He kept his tone calm but firm.
He thought to himself: I mean, Michael's going to be chased by a whole pack of werewolves. He's nothing compared to them. And me? I'm just a level 1 Combat Mage. Luke sighed inwardly.
But at least I'm smart enough to talk first and fight later. Those werewolves? They bite first, ask questions never. So in that sense, I'm a hundred times better off than those guys.
"Believe it or not, you're the target of werewolves," Luke said, his voice serious. It was better to be honest with Michael so he could understand how deep the danger really was.
Michael didn't look convinced. If anything, he looked like he was trying hard not to laugh. To him, Luke must seem crazy—some stranger breaking into his home, twisting his arm, and telling him werewolves were after him. No sane person would believe that.
"I know what you're thinking," Luke said, "That I'm nuts, or maybe worse." He gave a small, knowing smile. It was normal for Michael to react this way. After all, who would believe a stranger barging into your house, grabbing your arm, and rambling about werewolves?
"But believe me, werewolves and vampires both are—"
Luke's words cut off sharply as a crushing grip closed around his throat.
Before he could react, he was yanked off the ground and slammed hard against the wall.
It all happened so fast Luke barely had time to blink.
He looked up, wanting to see who the hell had attacked him so suddenly and in such a disgraceful manner.
