Chapter 63: Going to Montenegro
William returned to the Hilton Hotel around noon. He sat down in the living room to a large meal, noticing that his appetite had grown recently. He was now eating enough for three ordinary people.
Watching William eat so heartily, Alexander felt a twinge of envy. She couldn't afford to let herself go like that. The life of a model wasn't easy.
After lunch, William and Alexander took an afternoon nap. Around 2 o'clock, they headed out to go shopping.
It was late February in Miami, and the daytime temperature hovered around 20 degrees Celsius. It was neither cold nor hot, perfect weather for a light coat.
William accompanied Alexander as she visited Miami's luxury shops. They browsed Chanel, Dior, and Louis Vuitton from the afternoon until 7 o'clock in the evening. By the end, William's arms were laden with shopping bags.
Passing a coffee shop, William quickly ushered Alexander inside. Even with his physical fitness, which was several times that of an ordinary person, he couldn't keep up. Women were truly relentless when it came to shopping.
Alexander snuggled into William's arms in their booth. She explained that in the past, she never had the money to buy everything she wanted. Today, she had finally fulfilled her dream of a crazy shopping spree.
Seeing the tired look on William's face, Alexander felt a little embarrassed. She gave him an apologetic look and acted cute to win his forgiveness. She had spent £40,000 in just a few hours, something she would never have dared to do before. Her entire life's savings might not have even amounted to that much.
Alexander felt she had made a wise choice. William was considerate and handsome.
But for William, this amount of money was insignificant. It was like someone with £10,000 spending £4 on their girlfriend. The value was so small in comparison that one wouldn't even think twice about spending it.
After their break, William called the hotel and arranged for a car to take all their purchases back to their room. He had a late-night flight to Montenegro, so he planned to spend the rest of the evening with Alexander, visiting a couple more shops before heading to the airport around 10 p.m.
When they got back to the hotel, Alexander collapsed onto the sofa, unable to move. *So much for women never getting tired of shopping,* William thought wryly. He hadn't expected her to be this exhausted.
William sat beside Alexander, massaging her shoulders and legs. "Did you have a good time today, dear?"
"Mmm, oh, William, you're so good to me. I love you to death," she murmured. "Today, I finally fulfilled a wish I've had for years. Thank you, my dear. Here's your reward... a kiss."
After more than an hour of passionate activity, they finally rested.
William held the sweaty Alexander close, inhaling the scent of her hair. "Dear," he said, "after your show tomorrow, do you have any other commitments?"
Sprawled on the sofa, Alexander replied softly, "No, dear. I haven't received any invitations from the clothing brands yet. I don't know if anyone will book me for this spring show. It's depressing how few runway jobs there are." She snuggled coquettishly against him.
Her actions stirred William's desire once more.
William rolled over. "My dear, how about one more round? I have to go to the airport at three in the morning for my flight to Montenegro. After your show tomorrow, I won't see you for two or three days."
Later that night, after their exertions, William glanced at the time. "Alright, dear, I have to go catch my plane now," he said softly. "In three days, fly to Switzerland. We'll go skiing."
"Mmm, okay," Alexander whispered back from the sofa, her strength completely gone.
"Then I'm off," William said.
"Okay, you go," she said playfully. "I'm glad you won't be around for a few days, or you'd wear me out completely."
William laughed. "Then take care of yourself. I'll be waiting for you in Switzerland. Book your ticket and send me the details, and I'll meet you at the airport."
"Okay, dear. Be careful on your trip," Alexander said. She gave William a kiss and, after he left, fell fast asleep.
William took a private jet to Montenegro. Even so, the journey was long. The small plane had to make refueling stops in Iceland and Vienna, stretching the total flight time to thirteen hours.
After getting off the plane and exiting the airport, William saw James Bond approaching to meet him, accompanied by a beautiful woman with dark hair.
William and Bond shook hands and exchanged greetings. Bond then made the introduction: "William, this is Miss Vesper Lynd, an accountant from the Treasury. Vesper, this is Mr. William Devinshire."
"Good afternoon, Miss Lynd," William said as they shook hands.
"Good afternoon, Mr. Devinshire," Vesper replied.
With the introductions made, Bond said, "William, let's head to the hotel first."
The three of them left the airport and got into an old Rolls-Royce taxi.
Bond handed a document folder to William. William opened it and found two passports and a sheet of paper. His new identity was Alinton Bill, a professional gambler, and he and Miss Lynd were to pose as lovers.
William saw a problem. "Bond, I'm something of a celebrity now. Do you really think people will believe these documents?" He then turned to Vesper. "And Miss Lynd, if we're supposed to be lovers, does that mean we'll be living together? I certainly don't mind." William looked at the beautiful woman before him with a smile.
"No, Mr. Devinshire," Vesper said coolly. "I'm a Catholic. For the sake of my reputation and my future marriage, I think we should get an extra room."
"I hate when religious barriers get in the way," William said with a smirk. "It prevents us from having... more pleasant exchanges."
Vesper replied, slightly flustered, "Religion is a safety precaution. You don't mind, do you, Mr. Devinshire?"
"No, don't worry. You're not my type," William said, turning to look out the car window.
"Because I'm the smart type? Does that leave you feeling unfulfilled?" Vesper retorted.
"I'm not interested in women who already have boyfriends or husbands." William already knew she had a boyfriend; he could tell by the necklace she was wearing.
It was an Algerian love knot, a symbol of endless love, which was enough to extinguish any interest William might have had. It was immoral to steal another man's girlfriend. Besides, although she wore makeup, he could still see the freckles on her face, which made him even less interested.
William turned back to Bond. "Why did the Treasury send an accountant? What does this have to do with them?"
"Hahaha, I think it's better you don't know," Bond said, looking at Vesper with a grin. "If you knew the reason, you'd probably go crazy."
"It's to prevent you from evading taxes again, Mr. Devinshire," Vesper interjected. "We understand you have a criminal record in that regard."
Hearing this, William cursed inwardly. *When did I ever evade taxes? You're slandering me. Watch your words, beauty, or I'll sue you.*
*Tax evasion, my ass. If they had any real evidence, they would have arrested me long ago.*
