Chapter 11 - A good deed.

The blade almost reached the neck of the first victim, but his partner managed to react and deflect my knife thrust.

"Huh, so you're not just another thug?"

However, his attempt was still futile. I used my free hand as a blade, enveloping it in Storm Magic, and pierced the chest of the "rescued" man, ignoring his armor.

"Kha!" — but to my surprise, he didn't just die. He grabbed me and shouted:

"Kill him!" — and then his comrades appeared from all four sides. They moved in sync and quite quickly; if I were human, I wouldn't even have noticed their appearance.

I just smiled broadly. And just as their blades were about to reach me, I used Veil of Chaos.

They were surprised to find themselves piercing a purple figure whose features were shrouded in darkness. Meanwhile, I, still with the same smile, exploded the doppelgänger, and they were enveloped in the flames of chaos.

"Initially, I wanted to kill you all with this blade, like ordinary thugs. But I see you're not ordinary thugs." — my smile turned into a grin, and my small blade was enveloped in Storm Magic.

"Be careful! He's a caster!" — one of them shouted, and horned shield-bearers began to intercept me, while behind their backs appeared people in black robes, in whose hands began to appear…

"Magic? Oh ho, this battle will be much more interesting."

Both ordinary fireballs and boulders of rock flew at me. Sometimes right under my feet, the ground changed its structure and tried to pierce me. Sometimes bloody clumps of energy began to fly in my direction.

"Blood magic? No, it's something else; I don't sense any of my kin among you." — I said thoughtfully, cutting one of these clumps of magic with my sword. With my other hand, I punched the blade of an enemy who suddenly appeared from the side, thereby destroying him. Still looking thoughtfully at the enemy magic user, I grabbed the blade more comfortably and plunged it into the neck of the would-be assassin.

As soon as my blade plunged into his neck, I was surprised to see crossbow bolts, one of which was from the side of the one I had killed. In addition, I clearly felt a change in the soil, indicating another attack from underground.

"Phantom Aegis." — and a blue translucent barrier enveloped me.

This time I decided to use Phantom Aegis; in the previous battle, it was useless due to the colossal strength of the opponent, but against them…

More than eight crossbow bolts hit my barrier, and stone spikes appeared exactly in a circle from under the ground, enclosing me in a kind of prison, and a hail of spells fell on me again.

"Don't approach him! Attack from a distance!"

I pointed the hand holding the blade directly towards the spellcasters, with the blade facing them, and said with a smile:

"Death Knight."

A green pentagram flared up behind their backs, from which emerged a massive three-meter figure with a huge scythe.

A sweeping blow killed half of the spellcasters. The Reaper was about to swing for a second blow, but right before his attack, one of the shield-bearers stopped him, and two men with two-handed swords appeared on either side of the Reaper, who pierced him synchronously.

While they were dealing with the Reaper, the remaining spellcasters continued to attack me.

They were clearly experts in their field; everyone knew their place.

"It's like I'm fighting the Inquisition. Their discipline was just as ironclad," — I muttered, grabbing Serdolica and throwing her with all my might at the ranks of the spellcasters.

"Serdolica! I choose you!" — with my throw, I hit the head of one of the spellcasters, thus giving Serdolica a soft landing. Landing on the face of the spellcaster, right into their dense ranks, she immediately released spikes from her body, thereby killing two more.

I was tired of watching the Death Knight battle, so I used Blood Veil and slipped out of my "prison."

"He got out! Damn!" — one of the crossbowmen said as I appeared right in front of his face with a mad grin and the severed head of his comrade, then plunged my blade right into his chin.

"Surprise!"

Immediately after, I pull out the blade and kick the body of the fallen enemy towards the next one.

Dodging a hail of blows from the two horned ones.

"What an attack! You strike almost simultaneously, covering each other's gaps! If someone of your level were in your place, you would have won!" — I shouted to them with a laugh, parrying their attacks and trying to counterattack, but every time my blade almost reached one of them, the second one always deflected my strike.

Their blades were strange. Even considering that I had a rather mediocre blade in my hands, it was still enveloped in Storm Magic, it should have at least damaged their blade. Though perhaps I had simply grown out of fighting with daggers? How long had it been since I last fought with them? Three years?

The pace of the battle began to escalate they had clearly exceeded their limits both in speed and strength, and due to our battle's tempo, everything around was destroyed.

Out of the corner of my eye, I noticed that Serdolica and the Reaper had already finished. I break the distance between us.

"This was a good fight, but it's time to end it." — I began to be enveloped in Storm Magic. A second passed, and there were two charred bodies in front of me.

They didn't even have time to understand what had killed them; the only thing they heard was:

"Lightning Tendrils."

The attack was so fast that they didn't see how six golden clumps of lightning struck them.
