Penny's POV
Dad's words land heavy over the table.
"Since we're being honest tonight," he says, his gaze moving between all of us, "there's something your mother and I need to share."
The candlelight flickers quietly, filling the silence. Andrew's still holding my hand under the table, his thumb gently caressing my skin.
Mom looks at Dad, for once they seem like two people figuring out how to leap together.
Nick tilts his head. "You two are… scaring me. And not in the usual 'Dad's going to grill Andrew on sports trivia' kind of way."
Jessie leans forward. "Yeah, spill it before Nick's imagination gets out of control. He's already picturing secret identities."
Savannah lifts her glass, chiming in. "Or that they're starting a band. Please say it's not that."
Mom starts laughing. "No bands, and no secrets like that. It's about us."
