Chapter 287 - Chapter 287

"Baldy!"

Rocket and Groot shouted excitedly. Since leaving Xandar, they had lost contact with Saitama. To meet him here, at this moment, was a shock.

Saitama had already spotted them. His body turned into a streak of lightning, shooting into Quill's damaged ship and landing on the deck.

"Long time no see, everyone," Saitama greeted.

"We're in a bit of trouble. If you could lend a hand, it'd be perfect," Quill admitted awkwardly. His ship was half-destroyed, under constant pursuit from the Sovereign. It wouldn't last much longer.

"I am Groot~~"

Groot grunted. Thanks to Saitama last time, he hadn't died, so there was no Baby Groot this time—still the big old tree.

"Their firepower's fierce," Gamora said. She had already witnessed Saitama crush Ronan's fleet. Against the Sovereign, she had no doubt he could do the same.

"Alright, I'll go talk to them. Tell them to stop chasing you," Saitama said casually, before leaping out of the ship.

He landed on the lead fighter and tapped gently on the canopy glass.

"Hey, hello. You're remotely piloted, right? Can I talk to your leader?"

But the Sovereign didn't respond. Their only orders were to kill Quill's team. Nothing else mattered.

"…Not listening, huh?" Saitama sighed. "Guess I'll have to use my fists instead."

He placed his palm on the fighter's glass and pushed lightly. The craft spiraled out of control, its engine coughing smoke, before smashing through ten other fighters in a blazing chain reaction.

Boom—!

The explosion lit up the void like fireworks.

Now, every Sovereign ship redirected its aim to Saitama.

"Fire!!"

Negotiation? Impossible. The proud Sovereign would never stoop so low.

A storm of energy beams swallowed Saitama whole, before the fleet turned back toward Quill.

"…So unreasonable."

The blasts faded, and Saitama's figure emerged unscathed. He exhaled slowly, his chest swelling.

"Stooooop—!!"

His shout exploded across the void. Even in the silence of space, the sheer shockwave spread in all directions, smashing into the Sovereign fleet.

One by one, alarms screamed in their cockpits. Engines fried, systems collapsed.

The entire armada froze mid-flight.

In the Sovereign command hall, red warning lights lit up across every control console. A whole fleet disabled—by one bald man.

Only now did the Sovereign realize the true threat wasn't Quill—it was him.

"What's happening?! Why are they all frozen?!"

Ayesha shrieked.

"High Priestess, the engines are destroyed! A massive energy wave just swept through!"

"It was him—the bald one!! What is he?!"

The Sovereign warriors, proud of their flawless genetics, were shaken to the core. They had never lost so utterly.

On the battlefield, Saitama stood calmly in front of the wrecked fleet, as though inviting them to talk.

"Thieves! Criminals!" Ayesha snarled, her golden eyes blazing as she activated a projection.

"Who are you? Why do you block my fleet?"

"Me? Saitama. Just a hero for fun. Why are you chasing Quill?"

"They stole our batteries! They insulted the Sovereign! Such vermin must die!!"

Saitama: "…"

What a stubborn woman.

He scratched his head. He wasn't good with words. Honestly, just for a few batteries? Maybe valuable, sure, but worth all this? Clearly, it was more about Ayesha's pride.

"Let's just call it even, okay? You've chased them long enough. Their ship's almost wrecked. That should be enough."

"Even? Heh. Who do you think you are? I am the High Priestess of the Sovereign! No one dares speak to me like this! Saitama, from now on you are my sworn enemy! Put him on our highest bounty list!! Kill him!!"

Damaged though the ships were, many weapons still worked. They fired all at once.

Saitama sighed.

"So unreasonable."

He raised his fist.

Normal Punch.

After all, these were just drones. No pilots inside.

Boom—!!

A single sweeping punch unleashed a vast fan-shaped shockwave.

Every last Sovereign fighter disintegrated into fragments, explosions rippling across the stars.

In the Sovereign control hall, every screen flashed red. Their entire fleet—gone in one move.

Ayesha froze, her face rigid in disbelief.

Out in space, Quill and Rocket erupted in cheers.

"Yes! We're alive!! Those uptight Sovereign idiots thought they were hot stuff—but they didn't know about Saitama!!"

"格鲁特~~" Groot nodded.

Gamora and Drax could only stare.

"So strong… Saitama can survive in space without a suit. And that punch… it was like a galactic wave…" Quill's eyes shone in awe. Compared to him, he felt like nothing more than an ordinary guy with decent reflexes.

"Quick, get him aboard! We're almost at the jump point!" Gamora urged.

Saitama turned, floating back toward them.

But just then—

Before the jump point, a strange white vessel appeared. Shaped like a massive egg, it drifted slowly toward them…
