Chapter 472 - Chapter 472

"??"

Saitama had originally thought that when Miss Ann Darrow said something had happened, she just meant the giant ship had reached the waters near Sumatra Island and bumped into some reefs in the sea.

But when he saw a few dark shapes flickering in the darkness, he immediately sensed something was wrong.

"This is…"

Saitama was taken aback. "Creatures that are almost invisible at night, only occasionally showing white teeth… what are these things?"

When Saitama opened the cabin door, he saw that the interior of the ship was already crawling with them.

Natives.

The local natives.

In the plot of "King Kong," these were the islanders who lived around the waters of Sumatra, offering sacrifices to their god.

Heaven help them—how had these natives ended up here at a time like this?

Saitama didn't waste a single breath. He immediately had Ann Darrow and Vivian, the two beauties, stay inside the cabin to help out, while he himself sprinted toward the deck.

A lone figure flashed past the natives, weaving through them. Wherever that figure passed, not a single native could remain standing.

Since Saitama understood that these islanders were indeed human, he made sure only to knock them out, not to hurt them.

One.

Two.

Three.

By the time Saitama had finished taking down all of the suddenly attacking local natives, he realized their numbers were far greater than he'd imagined.

The entire deck was piled high with these sun-darkened islanders, all knocked unconscious.

"I don't know why they chose to attack us, but their timing is really something," Saitama muttered.

He glanced at the sailors braving the storm, scrambling up the masts and fighting to secure the sails, and couldn't help but sigh. "Good thing I got out here fast. Otherwise these sailors would probably have been beaten to death by the natives."

After dealing with the islanders, Saitama told everyone to tie them up for now and wait until morning to question them.

Since everyone on board already knew Saitama was a hero, they all followed his instructions without objection.

The next day, when the sun rose, Saitama gathered everyone around the natives and asked: "Why did you attack us?"

He was honestly curious.

How had these natives managed to pick such a perfect time to strike?

And in the original plot, didn't the islanders only appear after Carl and his film crew had already gone ashore?

The natives stared blankly at him, and when they heard Saitama's question, they didn't answer.

Saitama asked again: "You. And you. Why did you attack us?"

One of the natives showed a row of white teeth and replied, "Jili gua la…"

Everyone else: "???"

Saitama: "I'll ask you one more time—why did you attack us?"

Native number two: "@¥@¥@¥..."

Everyone: "…"

Listening to them talk, Saitama felt a headache coming on. If it weren't for the system inside him, he wouldn't have been able to understand a single word these natives were saying.

What native number one meant was this:

"Uh… we saw light over here, so we figured there was something, so we came to grab it and take a look."

Native number two said:

"We were looking for food to offer to our mountain god."

Only then did Saitama understand that these people had come purely from the instinct honed by living along the coast for generations.

Their instinct for hunting food was strong enough that they could use primitive tools to attack a passing giant ship.

As Saitama continued questioning them, the natives kept revealing more, and bit by bit, they let slip that there was a mountain god on their small island—in other words, King Kong.

All right then.

So he really had been overthinking it.

That was what Saitama thought.

He had been wondering if this sudden native raid meant the storyline was mutating somehow.

Just then, in front of everyone, Saitama spoke a string of that same jumbled native language.

The natives immediately looked at him with expressions full of prayer and worship.

That really stunned the tourists.

Not only had Saitama defeated the Transformers that had invaded Earth, he was now also filming a Hollywood blockbuster, and he could even speak this strange, twisted language.

He really was…

A superhuman.

Under everyone's gaze, Saitama jumped off the ship.

The natives, eyes closed, leapt after him.

Some of the tourists, wanting to see up close what exactly Saitama was going to do, also jumped in after them.

Very soon, this "jumping into the sea" behavior turned into a full-blown trend.

Vivian and Ann Darrow jumped too.

However, the captain of the ship had a special concern for the two of them, so instead of letting them leap straight into the water, he had them jump onto a small boat, following the main group forward.

At this point, director Carl urged Vivian, "Mrs. Vivian, hurry and follow them!"

"Why?" Vivian asked.

A question mark appeared on Ann Darrow's face as well.

She was puzzled. Wasn't this the exact shooting location Carl had talked about before? Why was he suddenly saying he didn't want them to go any farther?

Carl bowed his head to Vivian.

"Mrs. Vivian, thank you—both you and your husband—for taking care of us in this industry. But I really can't bear the guilt in my heart anymore."

Then Carl told Vivian and Ann Darrow everything he had secretly found out.

Of course, on this little boat was also the captain who had steered the cruise ship off its original course.

"Please call your husband, Saitama, and tell him not to go any farther," Carl pleaded. "If I'm not mistaken, this area is very dangerous."

But in Vivian's eyes, there was only trust.

"Saitama is the hero who saved the world," Vivian said. "I believe he can handle whatever's going on around here."

Hearing the same story, however, only deepened Ann Darrow's confusion.

Then she suddenly jolted, raised her hand, and slapped the director across the face.

"Hmph! So getting here and fulfilling my dream of becoming an actress was just a lie! And to think I took the script so seriously!"

Carl choked on his words. All he wanted now was for Vivian to hurry and contact Saitama.

Carl had big ambitions, but he wasn't a bad person.

You could see that clearly from the original "King Kong." If he'd truly wanted people dead, why would he have gone back with the others to rescue the female lead?

Even though that rescue eventually led to King Kong climbing the skyscraper and swatting down the fighter planes from the U.S. Air Force.

Vivian's emotions stirred, and she decided it was still best to call Saitama.

It wasn't that she was worried Saitama might be in danger. After seeing him save the world, she had already become his number one fan.

She just wanted to remind him.

To be careful.

That was all.

But when Vivian got Saitama on the phone, he simply said that he already knew and she didn't need to worry.

Vivian's lips curved into a small smile. Of course—the man who saved the world was someone you could rely on.

However, Saitama's next sentence piqued her curiosity all over again.

"Tell director Carl to shoulder his camera and gear," Saitama said. "Then have him walk in front of me."
