It lasted for less than a second.
The section of vine that had wrapped around Saitama's upper body suddenly began to swell and throb with a violent, unnatural force, like a balloon being pumped far past its limit!
The next second—
Pop! Pop-pop-pop!!!
A series of enormous, nerve-jangling detonations rang out along the thick vine trunk, like countless tough airbags all being burst at the same time!
Crash————!!!
Shards of ghostly blue vine, slick with foul-smelling slime, blew apart like fireworks. Mixed with jets of reeking transparent fluid that sprayed out like high-pressure hoses, they shot madly in all directions—up, down, left, right!
It was as if a hundred high-yield explosives had gone off inside it at once.
The entire section of the main vine that had swallowed Saitama, along with its spinning, fanged maw and all the associated vines that had erupted from the ground and twisted around within a radius of more than ten meters, were all forcibly blown to pieces by this series of impossible internal explosions! Chunks of meat and sticky fluid poured down like a torrential storm over the grass, paths, and trees around the bandstand, even splattering all the way to the very edge of Wanda and Vision's force field dozens of meters away!
Swelling. Detonation. Shattering.
No earth-shaking boom, no dazzling energy light—just the purest, most straightforward kind of physical destruction, erupting from the inside out.
The figure that had been swallowed emerged under a rain of viscous blue fluid and shredded vine flesh.
Saitama stood where he had been, still holding his own bag of discounted groceries in one hand, and still gripping the handle of Peter's bag full of lettuce and cabbage flyers with the other. He couldn't avoid it: his whole body had been splashed with foul-smelling, sticky blue vine pulp and juice. The edge of his bright red cape and his cheap white shirt were stained with large, ugly blotches.
On his face was an expression of extreme displeasure and absolute disgust. He frowned, tilting his head slightly as if checking how bad the mess on him was.
"Gross."
He forced the word out between his teeth. His voice wasn't loud, but in the dead silence that followed the vine's explosive destruction, it was crystal clear. Then, like someone who had accidentally stepped in dog poop, he shook his left arm in a deeply disgusted way—yet without any big motion—just a light flick of his sleeve toward the ground.
Boom!!!
An invisible but incredibly violent wall of wind exploded outward from Saitama as the center, like a massive, unseen broom sweeping everything away!
All the vine scraps, blue slime, and juice splashed around him—whether piled on the ground, hanging from branches, or still drifting in midair—were instantly swept up by that gust. They twisted together into a filthy tornado that roared straight toward the distant core of the giant ghostly blue membrane—the Beethoven music pavilion!
Ssssss—————!!!
That terrifying gale, packed with vine fragments tough enough to rival metal shrapnel and mixed with highly corrosive slime, slammed into the huge ghostly blue psychic barrier encasing the bandstand!
The barrier that had been strong enough to withstand Vision's physical phasing and Wanda's chaos energy assaults instantly writhed and rippled like a soap bubble thrown into boiling oil! Countless fine, web-like cracks raced across its surface at a speed that defied imagination!
Inside the core of the light membrane, the ghostly blue psychic mass that had been gestating and swelling suddenly unleashed a shriek so sharp it could pierce eardrums—inhuman, filled with endless chaos and agony! Its energy field went wildly unstable in an instant! All across Brooklyn Park, the intensity of the psychic contamination spiked and crashed in violent waves!
